The tea arrived in a proper teapot with cup and saucer and was easily enough for three cups. It was also a lovely blend, not too strong but with a distinct edge to it from your regular English Breakfast. The tea cake was a good size and came with butter which had already been warmed (a wonderful small touch) so was easy to spread. All in all very tasty. I have no doubts that if I lived nearby this would be a regular haunt, but as I'm not I bought a gift voucher for a friend who is and hope she enjoys it as much as I did. Will certainly be going back next time I visit.

The tea itself... they have a reasonable amount of choice and I went for a raspberry/vanilla infusion; let's say I might stick with the traditional english breakfast next time. I had the teacake, wich was very nice, and if you are willing to take my advice then ask for it to come hot and already buttered to the table; this way the teacake absorbs all the butter and changes texture slightly, which is what you want. Butter on the side just isn't the same. The cake selection also looked great and I'm planning to try a few next. They have a cute little garden at the back, it was a bit too cold to sit outside on that day, but if sunny I'd totally go for that spot. :)

In a city where so many bougie middle-class caffs will charge you £8 for breakfast if you give them half a chance, you can get a decent meal in here for less than a fiver. I'll take that any day. 2) The choice. A huge menu with many breakfast and lunch options. It's easy and cheap to sling together a custom breakfast of your own devising. You'll like the milkshakes, especially banana which is the best. 3) The service. Fast, friendly and unobtrusive. 4) The environment. There are always 3 or 3 newspapers lying around for you to enjoy while you eat your breakfast. Sometimes there's a telly showing music videos or Eastenders if it's the Sunday omnibus - but the volume isn't obnoxiously loud and for Easties, it's muted entirely with the subtitles on. There are some weird paintings of the wall of scenes from ancient Egypt which I spent many mornings wondering at. So mystic and mystifying, it was quite special. Generally speaking the inside is large and bright, and you'll never have trouble finding a seat even when it's busy. All told a great little caff and somewhere I enjoyed going more or less every weekend for a period of a few years. Any negatives? Well the toilet is a little poky and grimy but you're in a caff in Forest Gate, not the Ritz or one of the aforementioned bougie caffs such as you might find in more gentrified areas.

Optimizing the amount of sun-soakage, I wait for the next train to Bank at the far west end of the platform. I pensively gaze over the central London horizon conjuring up ideas of what to do and where to eat when I realize the sun flooding my sight sensors. As I gaze down to take a slight relief from the sun, I see what appears to be one of those circular Mongolian huts... what do they call them again? Ah yes, YURTS! Images of a three family nomadic Mongolian tribe taking settlement along the Limehouse DLR station began to fill my mind when I was suddenly disrupted by the fast approaching bright red train to Bank. I entered the train and as the doors closed, like a curious child, I lightly smudged my face on the bacteria infested window in order to get a better look at these yurts as the train headed for Shadwell. "I'll be back"... I thought to myself as the Mongolian settlement quickly was swallowed into the East London horizon.... Sunday morning - again unusually sunny indicating an imminent and appropriate Sunday Funday! Parched for a cup of freshly made coffee, I head over to the Limehouse java-godsend called Husk. But wait... closed?!! How can a hipster cafe be closed on a Sunday?? Where else in Limehouse is it possible get large dosages of quality caffeine? With a lack of caffeine and shattered expectations, my shaking fingers tremble as they look for a close by options. "Limehouse coffee" I searched for. And the result? Yurt Cafe Huh..... To my surprise, these Mongolian settlers I visually discovered just the day before have somehow created a cafe?? What would it be like? Will I be sitting on furs of random animals munching on yak meat? Without further ado, or thought, I crossed the congested river of cars otherwise known as Commercial Road, waded under the Limehouse DLR station and low and behold, a small insignificant sign.... (--- Yurt Cafe Surely this was an act of the coffee gods. As I walk to the settlement grounds, I see a group of brightly coloured anime hair youngsters seated outside around an old rickety wooden table smoking, soaking up the Sunday sun, and drinking what smelled to be amazing coffee. My curiosity (and feet) quickly led me to the main attraction: the yurt! This circular nomadic looking tent surprisingly housed an assortment of mismatched wooden tables, seats cushions, random persian carpets, flowers and an amazing ceiling letting in a thick ray of light so obvious, you could almost hug it like a tree. Without thinking, I ordered a coffee from the cheerful non-mongolian staff along with a slice of carrot cake and another gluttonous unnecessary slice of banana toffee cake. As I inserted my debit card into the machine, I noticed a sign to my right... "Relaxation Room" Hummmm.... After inquiring the smiling Yurt staff, it looks like the room is for anyone who would like quiet time. Whether that be in the form of meditation, yoga, or just sitting and contemplating a range of things from the meaning of life to absolutely nothing. I sat down on some pillows near a small yurt window loving every second of this unusual but welcoming caffeine oasis in the heart of Limehouse. In an almost cafe-barren Limehouse, I am not able to express my level of content that this circular tent exists and that I can walk here each weekend to sip on their wonderfully brewed black java liquid while munching on great snacks and not to forget weekend brunches until 4pm! Mongolian tribe or not, it is with a big smile and happy stomach, that I welcome this fine new addition to the Limehouse neighbourhood!

Let's give a different wetherspoons a go, and compare it to our last, disastrous outing to the wetherspoons at Cannon Street station. Honestly, it couldn't have been further from our horrendous experience at the "Sir John Hawkshaw" last month - Sir John is probably turning in his grave to be associated with them! We visited on Saturday afternoon, and probably the busiest time for any pub 1.30pm - 2.30pm and the lunch rush. It was packed downstairs and upstairs! There must be seating for nearly 40 people upstairs and around 100 plus downstairs. We went upstairs as there was a few obvious free tables and it looked heaving downstairs! We picked out our table without issue, just in time as more people started to come in after us, we sat and decided what to eat. I chose a skinny chicken burger with a thatchers gold cider and Elle had a BBQ burger without a bun (gluten intolerance), chips (fries), onion rings and a ting. I went to the bar and ordered, unfortunately they didn't have the thatchers gold OR ting upstairs so called downstairs for them. I came back to the table, sat and waited.... Our drinks came in about 5 minutes, pretty good. Then it really started getting busy, all the tables around us filling up. A thought of our last experience of wetherspoons flashed across my mind....Will we be waiting an hour for this food? The pub was REALLY busy easily 25-30 people upstairs and 70 downstairs and thought I'd time how long it would take! 13 minutes later our food was there at our table! What a total contrast to our previous wetherspoons visit, excellent service, everything was hot, everything was delicious and well cooked, the staff were polite and the atmosphere was good. They had a pizza and a burger club special menu so spent £13.98 for our food and drinks which is nothing to smiffed at. We WILL be going back... We WILL be recommending the George.... We enjoyed our experience! Well worth a visit if you're on a budget or just want something quick...
