If you are the type of person that appreciates concession stand snackies, a Mexican refresqueria is just that. Snowcones, nachos, Frito pie, Flamin' Hot Cheeto pie, dorito pie, churros, licuados (milk shakes), elote in a cup.... There are a few Tampico Refresquerias in town, but I like that this one is along the Eastwood Park hike and bike trail. It's cash only. And no outdoor or indoor seating. Just grab your snacks and move it along...

What an amazing little gem! Located on Harrisburg Blvd and Stiles Street this spot is always popping and the lines are real, but they go fast. While visiting Houston, the heat is no joke so they recommended to come here for a super pleasant refreshment and boy were they right. It seems like this part of town you may find a lot of Hispanic business which means that they folks inside speak the language. Luckily so do so placing my order was not hard at all. They sell shave ice with a menu of about 30 flavors from fruits to even el picosito ( lime juice and chile) but what a delight and the prices are even better! A 32 oz cup filled with ice and sugar for a total of $2.50! What a deal!!!! Not to mention they fill it so much it spills sometimes :) . They staff is a bit older in age but that is what makes this place even better, it makes you feel like is your mom who is giving you a treat during the heatwave. And just in case you're hungry, they also have cheese corn, hot dogs, chicharrones, nachos churros with cajeta and a few other snacks [we] like to eat. I was a amazed by how a small place can have such a great turnaround. They may not have enough parking space nor tables to seat outside, but boy do they have a line that wraps around the small building yet their service is more that efficient is super quick. Again not sure if the staff has already the practice and the sense of urgency that makes their delivery a STAT order. Amazing. Being a tourist I was more than pleased. And I truly want to come back EVERY day but I gotta give it a try to other parts of the city of Houston. Gracias a todas las señoras que andan en friega ayudando con las ordenes y prohebiendo un gran servicio. Todo delicioso.

Love this refresqueria. I always get a medium watermelon raspa with chamoy, and if I'm hungry, a cheeto pie. Very good and very cheap! Only downside is that none of the waiters speak english so I hope you listened in high school! Also, CASH ONLY!!

Cheap and Delicious. I get a watermelon snow cone md size, which is similar to a large drink McDonalds would have. Amazing fun little place, takes long to order when there's a line. They have over 30 flavors. Please give it a shot

This place was bomb! It's like a snack bar store front with tons of lil tasty goodies!

Wasn't a really fan of this location. The corn seemed to lack cheese, mayo, and chili powder. The line on the weekend is pretty long. The snow cones are good and reasonably priced, I wouldn't return other than this reason.

Corn ( Elote) with a bug inside.

This bug is what I found in my corn today. Disappointed because I really liked this place. After I seen them refill the queso blanco from a Home Depot 5 Gallon bucket with no lid, this is BOUND TO HAPPEN. Won't be returning, it was melted to my cheese.

    Best Elotes!!!

The ladies there have a terrible attitude everytime I go and seem to not want to take my order. The food is not worth the attitude.

Food: 4.5/5 Service: 4/5…read moreAmbiance: 2/5 Overall: 4.2 My group got the fresh fruit shaved ice with strawberry ice cream and coconut pudding. The shaved ice itself was really nice and fluffy, with the condensed milk topping being VERY sweet yet not overpowering. The fruit toppings we got, for the most part, were good. The pineapple and cantaloupe were both okay, though I think they both could've been fresher, but the strawberry and mango were both really good and complemented the shaved ice. I also really enjoyed the strawberry ice cream on top. I was a bit skeptical at first, but it added another dimension to the dish. The coconut pudding, though, was quite disappointing, not tasting like much and overall just feeling like a random and unnecessary addition to the otherwise really good dessert. The ambiance here was the main issue. It is a little bit barebones and not very decorated, but that didn't bother me. What did though was the piercing high pitched noise of the electronics, which made it really hard for me to focus, and the flashing lights, which just made me feel really disoriented. Still, this place is a hidden gem in the Dun Huang Plaza compared to everything else around it, and is definitely worth a try!

All the hotdogs on the menu are $8 each except the French Dip $9 and the Carolina $10. When making it a combo (add FF and a drink) add $7 more. My total was $23 for 2 hotdogs, a drink and a FF. The NYC had onions and sauerkraut, the Local had blended queso w/ground beef. The Philly has peppers, onions and provolone, and the Chicago had veggies. All the dogs tasted good cuz they're Nathan's, the bread used was fresh, FF were tasty, the wieners could be hotter (temperature wise) upon serving. And there could be more ground beef in the queso on the Local dog. The sodas have the good ice...soft airy crunchy. The menu offers other items, chicken tenders, sliders, grilled cheese, frito pie, salads, deviled eggs, fried cheese curds, fried pickles, etc They have several beer choices, frose', wine and frozen margaritas (made with wine) Connected to restaurant is their snow cone place. But the unexpected highlight? The French fries--they were some of the best I've ever had! Definitely worth the stop, and we're glad we made the short detour before heading home.

Side note you'll need a code to use their restroom. I ordered the split cup of Strawberry Almond Cheesecake and Dulce de Horchata. I felt that the portion could've been slightly more generous than below the rim of the cup, but I suppose the price is reasonable. I guess it's hit or miss like at Marble Slab. The cheesecake flavor was okay not overpowering, which I would've preferred more than the almond and strawberry. I think I wasn't impressed with it because the server scooped more of the graham crust than ice cream. I'm pretty sure that's another reason I didn't particularly care for their cheesecake. The horchata was nice with hints of cinnamon and with the split cup made it taste even better.
