The theater video, audio and seating is a 5 star review. However, to enjoy a theater you have to have a guaranteed seat. It is a nice feature to pick my assigned seat before arriving. However, someone was sitting in my seat, in a packed theater and refused to move, unless I get a manager involved. The problem I have is the manager did not ask the person to leave the theater, after all that drama. Just asked the person to go to their original seat, which was front row, terrible seating, relative to my middle of theater seating. If a manager does not enforce assigned rules strictly, particularly for when a person refuses to get up, the manager is welcoming this to happen again. I am worried about this happening again. And I should not have to feel that way when going to a theater I went to enjoy myself, paid a lot of money, and had to deal with that stress. read more

The name says it's in new River Valley, which I suppose is broadly true. When I looked it up online, I had thought it might be closer to the river in Radford or something like that, but it is in a shopping center on the outskirts of Blacksburg at the end of one of the greenway trails. I found something depressing about walking into a theater and seeing kiosks where people used to work. Having bought my ticket I went to a theater that was not IMAX, but with special format. The reclining chairs were a good perk and there was plenty of space. The movie going experience was largely uneventful and was a better experience than I've had in Roanoke. If you want really top class theater experience, you'll have to probably drive to a bigger city. read more

I say this as a big Regal supporter! I've been subscribed to Unlimited and absolutely love it. It's a great value, and I think the Regal experience is very comfortable and unintrusive. That being said, it has some annoying problems that sometimes hold me back from strongly recommending it--and they feel like issues that could be easily fixed. Mainly, the volume in some of the theaters (especially when you're watching a horror movie, but I understand not wanting to be too loud and disrupt other movies) and the blurry screen on the RPX format. The sound is genuinely fantastic, and the vibrating seats are incredibly immersive without being too distracting, but the screen is so out of focus that it can almost ruin the experience entirely--which is a shame for their most premium theater format. Most movie theater projectors have easily adjustable focus features and I feel this could be a quick fix. Im going to be watching the new Avatar soon in this format, and I hope the issue is fixed! first of all, the staff is wonderful and the service as well. i watched the wicked premiere and the music was at the lowest possible volume, so it was really hard to hear what was happening unfortunately :( also, i wouldn't have chosen 4d if i realized that's what my friend got the tickets for, but even for 4d i feel the "screens" on the other 2 walls were super dark and instead of being immersive, they felt like a distraction. l don't know if this is what 4d is supposed to be like or if it's the theater itself but it definitely took away from the experience. hope they turn it up next time, and i'll get regular screening tickets! read more

I've probably caught a dozen or more shows with travel to Western VA often for my son's swim. It's the nicest in the Christiansburg/Blacksburg area. The most recent my son in town for a swim meet. We saw an animated action movie and got tickets online. The showing was on a Friday so it was busy. The lobby was clean. Our first interaction with staff was getting popcorn. Young staff got the job done and the counter was clean too! Yeah you will pay too much as per usual. The theater had comfortable seating and it was cleaned before the show. Best of all the sound was superb. Since the house was almost full it made for a more enjoyable experience since it was an action comedy. This is a great choice, well really your only choice but it's good place to catch a flick. read more

We were in town visiting my parents for the holiday, and wanted to catch a movie with the kids. This was the closest theater to their new place -- and it's MUCH better than the other options in Blacksburg! It's small, but clean and the staff was incredibly friendly. My mom even lost her keys and they were able to find them for her. Prices are reasonable for theaters these days. The sound quality was good without being overly loud like many places. They have the nice reclining seats as well. Overall a good experience! I'll go back when I'm in the area. read more

Worst run Regal I have ever visited. No dedicated ticket line, understaffed food lines. Confusing entry to check tickets, guy sitting at table, takes 10x longer than necessary repeating everything on your ticket. Also bad attitude. Pro's: Clean, comfortable, and an RPX theater. Tonight was our first time viewing a movie at Regal. The experience couldn't have been any better. All the screens are outdated and blocky. You can see lines from the frame during the movies. The theater we were in had a blown speaker and I just can't justify a comfy chair for crap screens, maybe some can but it's far to expensive to not even be able to hear the movie read more

Theater is poorly managed. They had a huge line with only one person working the register. As a result, I had to spend half an hour in line waiting to purchase a ticket. By the time I made it to the register, the movie had already been playing for 10 minutes for a 1.5 hour movie meaning that I had missed a substantial portion. I asked the cashier if the movie was already showing, and she confirmed my suspicions with no apology for the delay or anything else. Will take my business elsewhere. There are much better theaters in this area. Would give zero stars if that was possible. read more

I purchased a ticket to see the Betty White celebration several days ago. This is a one time presentation. Because of a moderate snow, the theater was closed. I received no notification and there was nothing on local websites about the closing. In fact, the theater's website had the word "OPEN" in green letters on their site. After shoveling my driveway and driving to the theater, I pulled up and parked only to see a sign that said Jan 16 (yesterday's) shows were canceled. Nothing was posted about today. They keep the theater clean and well-maintained, as one would expect from a Regal theater. The seating is quite comfortable with arms that can be lowered or raised on the seating, which is a nice plus. The crowds are usually pretty large for a new movie but if you go to an older one you just might get the whole theater to yourself! The folks who go there tend to be not rowdy and well-behaved but if there's a problem then the staff are ready to help it be rectified. read more

This is the biggest movie theater 'in town'. They're part of Regal so you get to use your Regal points (or collect them) each time you come by. Parking can be a bit of a battle if you come on a weekend night as the parking area is combined with the mall/other restaurants. Standard issue popcorn/sodas/etc. Some theaters are a bit smaller so come early to grab your seats. read more

It's definitely a nice theater and has all of the modern amenities, but if you live down south of Christiansburg, it's much better to go to Marquee Cinemas in Wytheville. Prices at Regal are very expensive. Tickets for adults cost $11.00 (compared to Marquee's $8.25) and if you get drinks for two, one popcorn and one candy, expect to pay greater than $40. When my wife and I first visited our mouths dropped open when we noticed that a simple bottle of water costs $6.00. I mean, really? I can get a pack of 24 waters for around $4.00. If we have to go to this theater, we don't buy any concessions, which makes it cheaper. read more

This place gets my vote for movie theaters in the area! It looks relatively new from the outside and from the in, really. The seats are big and comfy and compared to DC Metro prices, it's a steal. The parking is attached to the mall parking, so it can be a little cumbersome to find a place to park, but it wasn't bad on a Saturday afternoon. read more

Modern, large stadium seating and well maintained. Parking can get tight during peak hours but that's expected. I like going there for matinees or using my VT ID to get a student ticket. Its right next to the NRV mall and various restaurants so its easy to grab some dinner and then see a movie for a date or outing. Prices are good, especially compared to what I'm used to paying up in northern VA. I'm a fan of regal cinema in general and would recommend signing up for their rewards program to get free popcorn/drinks/tickets. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. I went tonight to see Annabelle: Creation with my boyfriend. We usually go to Franks Theatre in Blacksburg, for obvious reasons. While the movie was good, we could hear loud sound effects coming from the theatre behind us. It was hard at times to concentrate on the movie that we paid $22 to see. I never remember this happening before?!? The only reason we came was because the late night showing at 10:25. Next time I will be sure to stay in Blacksburg, using my money on a place that is actually worth it. read more

I've been to the iMax and will never go again. This Regal Cinema is clean, very comfortable, well-maintained. Normally my husband and I find we have our choice of seating as it never seems crowded when we go. The folks who work there are pleasant. We are grateful to have this cinema in our area. read more

This theater is poorly managed. While the building is new and fancy and all that jazz, there is absolutely no reasonable excuse for the way they run this theater - there are 14 screens and apparently whoever runs this place has never watched a film or has no knowledge of business needs as they take good films like "True Grit" and only show them in one theater, whereas they designate garbage like "Yogi Bear" to two theaters (3D and 2D). The result is sold out shows of good movies and empty screenings of the crappy movies they choose to take up multiple rooms with. "Modern" isn't all that matters... it would be nice to go to a movie theater where MOVIES are put first, and not corporate profits. I used to work for Regal, and I can tell you that they are an awful company - and it shows in their management and how they choose to treat the moviegoer on a daily basis. read more

Wow, this theatre has comfortable seating, but that is about it. It is the concession stand that is doing it all wrong! First of all, they don't even pop their own popcorn anymore. I have seen them dump it in the popcorn maker from a big bag they pull out from the back. The popcorn isn't any good either. You run across pieces that have a chemical or mildew taste to them. It seems like they are using cow corn. We bought a box of M&Ms an asked for cup to pour them into so we didn't have to keep sticking our hands in the box to get one out. We were so decieved! The box was larger than the little packs you get in the store, but when you opened the box, inside was just a little pack of M&Ms disguished in that bigger box! We poured them into the little paper cup they give you and it only filled it 1/4 of the way. So no more than a handful was in that $4 box! We ordered the large popcorn and from midway down it was all little crumbs and kernels, $6 for that! Then you ask for butter but you get coconut oil which is a major artery hardener! I have asked Regal in the past why they don't offer more healthy choices and they didn't even bother to answer. They don't care about your health or value for your hard earned dollar, all they care about is their bottom line. read more
