I have been to reggies twice now to see a show . Once in the main room , then in the Banana room . Both times the staff at reggies went out of their way to accomodate my needs . On the one night i was offered a dollar voucher for 16 oz beer. Now i rarely drank beer at that time , now i do not drink . After seeing this show i took them up on the dollar beer , went next door and watched a GREAT metal band from wisconson and enjoyed a 16 oz pbr . that was a GREAT night cap , way to kill an hour as traffic was not so good at the time . Both times they went out of their way to accomodate my special needs as i have herniated disks , and i really need to either lean up against the wall or ideally sit for the duration of the show . typically at something like this i do not expect to be taken seriously , but both times reggies staff went above and beyond the call to assist me . I caution Black Americans... I Will Not Be Returning!!! This was once a cheap place to chill on a nice summer day years ago. I caution Black Americans to stay clear. The bar tenders ignore you and one was extremely rude. He told a mature man in my party to "Shut Up", while asking for water. We questioned his aggressive behavior and were asked to leave without a refund of a massive amount of food that had just been brought to our table. Then we were told "we'll call the police if you don't leave". We had no problem leaving, we never posed a threat nor became aggressive. We simply asked for our money back and we would gladly leave and never return. In our current hyper racial climate a threat to call the police is modern day bullying of Black Americans used to incite fear for demanding common civil rights. I am a Black American Emergency Medicine provider. Risking my professionalism and the ability to continue to save lives daily is not worth patronizing such establishments. I was here on 6/10/18 to see one of my favorite bands of all time, WarCry! It was the first time the Spanish band had ever come to Chicago and I was pumped! Reggie's Rock Club is a block away from the CTA green line so getting there was very easy. I arrived around 7:15pm. Doors were supposed to open at 7:00pm but general entrance people were allowed to go in closer to 8:00pm. Beer and drink prices were decent and the sound quality was GREAT!! They had a few issues with the microphone at the beginning of the show but they quickly resolved them. Bathrooms were kind of creepy but at least they had toilet paper! All in all, sound quality was awesome and getting in to the venue was pretty quick and easy. read more

Absolutely horrible, was there for a Ok Goodnight show friend got profiled then kicked out, then the very clearly drunk bouncer came over and kicked the rest of us out. They thought we were feeding our underage friend alcohol but we were not. We begged them to review cameras or to do literally anything but they refused and kicked us out anyway. Drove 5 hours and my one friend flew in for this concert. Utterly ridiculous security. read more

Before I can explain that I didn't,I was grabbed by 4 Reggie's staff members and they begin to bullrush me out the venue. Horrible Service. My friend ordered a mixed drink and didn't like it. Clearly the bartender put juice and ice in a cup. Fine, just don't charge us. Waiter comes back and claims the bartender told him she would need to order a shot bc there were no refunds. We asked for a manager and was told he was busy. Upon entering the building we also had to find our own waiter. There were only 2 working so we understood. It sucked the mgr put the waiter in the position to take the flack. The manager still didn't come to the table after waiting 15 minutes so we get up to leave. Waiter comes running to my car and I'm still "well where is your manager?" Long story short. The bill was paid and we never got the drink remade. I went back in to find a manager and still had to wait 15 mins. Guess where the mgr was all this time? At the bar stuffing his face lmao. This guy couldn't come to the table because he was eating. He didn't make eye contact. Didn't acknowledge that all of this could have been avoided if the drink was remade. In between buffalo wings and him smacking his teeth he claims "this is between you and the bartender. No bar I've been to gives refunds or remakes drinks." A dying breed, a rock club in the city with a great rooftop and 2 stages. I've played on stage here and I've seen national acts here too. You may not think they'd have good food, but I have come here specifically for the food. It's pub food, but it's good pub food. They make an excellent burger, and they also have a great beer selection. It's 2 separate stages are quite different. 1 stage operates like small blues bar with a small stage in the corner and a bunch of tables around. The larger stage is more like a small club with no tables and bar facing the stage, which is nice, so you can turn around and grab a beer and turn back and see the stage. A friend and I went here. We wanted to try something new. We came in a rainy Saturday afternoon. They ID upon entering. Since I wasn't here for a performance I can only comment on the food and service. The food was decent nothing amazing. The server was alert and made several suggestions. She seemed friendly. While there a patron and the bar tender got into a little quarrel and a unique young lady with her clothes falling off and hair all over the place came to use the facilities and drink. It seemed normal noone budged or looked shocked. Nothing too out if the ordinary for the customers or workers. Definitely a lively place. It's best to leave the kids at home and stay strapped. read more

This place went from 4 stars to 1 star real quick. Let me start by saying the wings were actually really good ,and the roof top was a chill environment but the horrible and childish attitude our waitress had overshadowed that. First off , my friend who invited us out for his wife's birthday and had hyped this place up to myself and another friend out with us , had to go LOOK FOR A WAITRESS. They let him know she would be with us shortly and she knew we were waiting but I guess chatting with her coworkers was more pressing. At this point I was not bothered yet, not a huge deal to me , my friend who was paying was a little bothered , whatever . We ordered 2 buckets of modelo with limes and an order of 20 wings . She dropped some of our limes and says she'll be back with more comes back with exactly 2 wedges in a little cup haha um ok , still goes over my head , but kind of funny like wow y'all really stingy with the limes huh . We asked for salt like 4 times which we never actually got , if you're expecting them to offer you water when you get food don't because they don't , cool whatever. All this while I am not too phased , we decide we're going up to The rooftop my friend picking up the check pays and doesn't tip because she didn't really check on us or anything and was giving off bad vibes the whole time, again I'm not paying for this meal he's inviting us out I'm like ok your choice she comes back and raises her voice to say "OH SO NO ONE WANTS TO LEAVE A TIP ? Anyone?" he says sorry I wasn't happy with the service , politely , nothing more , we're going upstairs to which she replies " Yeah bye go upstairs " and I'm still laughing at this point as I've never seen someone be that childish but whatever still not phased , now she shortly after follows us upstairs and announces to the servers/bartenders " don't serve those people they don't tip" out loud so we can hear her , and now , I'm pissed off because I was not a part of their conversation, I sat there quietly the whole time letting bygones be bygones . My friend hears her and says again he was not happy with her service , another staff member possibly manager says oh sorry her dad just died , so apparently reggies does not give their employees bereavement days , and I'm human , I'm understanding I could forgive a bad day but why the fuck do I see this childish ass girl flicking us off with both hands from afar . However this place does play really loud music to the point where you might have to yell a bit in order to have any type of conversation :/ . The place itself is a pretty cool venue. Not too big, not too small. The slanted floor gives a good angle to see no matter where you stand, and a couple of cinder block "stair-steps" to one side offer a place to sit down. But man did the show take a long time to get going. Doors at 8. First act didn't even start til 9:30! It was a "variety show" so little segments were sprinkled throughout, but three bands were the main focus. The second band (of the 3) didn't go on til about 11. We didn't even make it til the third (who we'd gone to see), due to one in the party getting a migraine, so that was really fucking annoying. Reggie's rooftop never fails to deliver delicious food. I can always count on the wings to be meaty and flavorful. Never dry. The mac and cheese is a creamy gooey treat and a surprise was the thick filet spicy blackened catfish sandwich. Highly recommend anytime. read more

This isn't for the club necessarily but we hired two buses from Reggie's to facilitate transportation from our wedding venue and reception for 150 people. The transportation went smoothly and everyone was on time!! You can't ask for more than that. There were even some beers left over from a previous event to get us started as the wedding party headed to the venue. Would hire again! read more

This review pertains to the main music venue (Rock Club) only. I've been to many shows here over the past 12 years or so, and felt it was time to submit a review to the Yelpers out there. First, the audio quality: The sound at the club is always mixed the same wa regardless of the genre of music. You will experience heavy bass and very loud volume. While that might be appropriate for a metal show (which I dig) or a DJ show, it is not appropriate for a jazz fusion show (which I also dig) or similar style, but that's what you will get nonetheless. This can range from appropriate, to mildly annoying, to show-ruining, but it has always been the case. If you see a fusion gig advertised, and you care about the sound quality, skip it and wait for them to return at another fine Chicago venue. I've seen the same band here and at Martyr's. Wow, what a difference in audio quality. Second, the logistics: You will get very little information about the show beforehand. Whereas at other venues you will receive information on door times, start times, etc, you can guess for all that Reggie's for most shows. At best, you'll get a time stamped on your ticket with no indication as to what it is (door? opening band start? headline start?), but it may or may not have any relation to the actual time of occurrence. Maybe that's not an issue for you, but if it is (like you need a babysitter to attend show), buyer beware. This has resulted in unforeseen late nights in some cases, or just having to skip a show entirely after seeing (for the first time) that the headliner starts at 11PM for a show advertised as being from 8-11. One time a gig was cancelled, refunds promised, but none given. Not enough money to pursue, but there it is. Third, the staff: I've never actually had any problem with the staff at Reggie's. They have always been pretty cool, so no issues there. Your results may vary based on the other reviews, but for us, they've been solid folks. Reggie's Rock Club is easy to get to, easy parking nearby on south State, clean bathroom, clean inside. However, the issues with bad audio and missing or mis-information have made me decide that I won't go there anymore. read more

Went there for Iron Maiden preshow. First time there, staff was extremely helpful knowing that it was my first time there. The band, Maiden Chicago, was worth a cover charge, but it was free. They put on an awesome show. Food and drink was reasonably priced. Wife had quesadillas, I had burger, and we split wings. All the food was above average, the wings were probably the best I have had in a long time. They also offer shuttle services for free to the venues. Did not know this, will definitely consider this next time. Paid $4.00 for parking a block away. Only dislike is that I am from western burbs and wish they were closer. Coming here before Iron Maiden show was the icing on the cake, so to speak. Will definitely look for excuses to come out here again!!! read more

Apparently, there's two Reggie's in this city. And what do you know, they're right next door from each other. I'm sure that causes some confusion for most, but I guess us Chicagoans need more Reggies in our life, so ask and we shall receive. There's a difference between this Reggies and the other; while the other one is a standard bar and grill type of set up with a small stage at the back of the restaurant, this one is a legit music venue with a bit of a higher stage and a large pit for music fans to act a God damn fool. Plus there's a psuedo rooftop above a bar with patio seating which I thought was a pretty neat makeshift balcony. I went to see a metal show here this past Tuesday and man, was it loud. I went out for a smoke 20 minutes into their set and my ears were already ringing...that's hardcore! I mean, it is a small building so the sound will travel around the room faster. It's a decent time all around, cheap beer, good sound system, interesting fanbases. Truly a gem in the Chicago music venue world. read more

Went to a show here to see Wookiefoot. Cool venue, puts on a pretty good show. However, I must say...fuck you guys and you're rude as bouncers. I wasn't doing anything wrong, dancing, having a good time, minding my own business. I was holding my boyfriend's cup, that had alcohol in it, but I like to eat the ice when he's done bc I get hot and it keeps me cool, but I don't wanna pay for water.... Anyway, these two bigger guys came up to me and started yelling in my face, I was so caught off guard, it horrified me. They were yelling at me and escorted me out. I just don't get it. We drove all the way out from Michigan to come to this show for my boyfriend's birthday. I was not doing anything wrong and I am a 90 lb female and they had two biggers guys come and tell in my face. Why couldn't they just give me a warning, or at least be fucking nice about it. Anyways, I will not be coming back here. So, I came here to see a couple of groups as part of the World Music Festival. I had never been here before in my life, nor knew it existed despite the many times I've passed it in my life. I'm not really into the music they typically book, I suppose. Anyhoo, I liked this spot. The sound was great. It completely surrounded you rather than just come from in front of you. I could hear every instrument come together. The venue covers the bands, and any messed up sounds is on the band. For example, the first group I saw, the vocalist could be heard crystal clear. Her voice was strong and carried well. The second group, even when singing in English, I could make out only but a few words here and there cause he sounded all mumbled. And his speaking English was without accent, so that was all him. I went on a Sunday night and the food special was all you can eat Sloppy Joes for $5. Loved it! It wasn't all saucy, had a great bun, and a good texture to the meat. The sandwich comes with pickles and chips. The first sandwich is well worth $5 on it's own, but I made it to a 2nd sandwich feeling like a winner. You can get a side of mac & cheese, which is yummy, for a little extra. OOoooh, and the drink special was flavored vodka for $5! I guess the rock crowd doesn't like the flavored liquors? Shit, I do! Peach vodka and ginger ale all night. That's how I party like a rock star. I saw they have all you can eat tacos on Monday, and I now have started to look out for any act at all I would want to see on a Monday. What? And the Smoking Popes (or as the cool kids say, the "Popes") is one of his oldest more favorite bands. So when they came to Reggies, we had to check it out. A rather intimate venue with overpriced beer (aren't they all), Reggie's was a great time, and the show was fantastic. The sound quality was great, the crowd had an excellent vibe, and they played some great songs. And they did play, "I'm writing a letter"...so I watched out. As best I could, at least. Oh Reggie you have done me wrong and all your Chicago patrons. How we've had many of good times on the train wreak roof top bar eating jumbo fried chicken wings and glorious pour-over craft beer. But last week I had to end my six year relationship with Reggie's Rock House. Showing up fashionably late as always, I happened to miss last call even though I stood at the bar for almost ten minutes with cash in hand. (Rude but I could care less) I did encounter the bar tender making a drink even though last call was over. This specific individual dug his dirty hands into the big steel container of ice to make his Manager's friend a drink. Yes you heard right dug his hand into the container of ice that serves you mixed drinks and water. This is filthy disturbing and a total violation of Heath codes.
