I didn't grow up in Manila, so I couldn't relate when my friends who lived close to San Juan would say that they spent most of their childhood in Regina Gift Shop. Well, I couldn't relate to the "growing up in Regina" part, but I definitely understand why someone would say that he or she did grow up there. After all, this place is a wonderland for kids and adults alike. You will find just about anything here that you don't really need but you want to buy anyway just for the hell of it. This Greenhills institution has just about anything that will tickle a child and a child-at-heart's fancy.
The place is just filled up to the last square inch with merchandise such as stickers, party hats, mugs, bags, toys, playful kitchenware, candy, play money, notebooks and other novelties. If you need gifts for kids, this is the place to go. You will find all of their stuff in Divisoria anyway, but Regina's is like your personal shopper - you don't have to weed through all the bad stuff in Divi. They have already done that for you and picked out the best ,coolest and the most relevant toys and merchandise so everything is cool and awesome and will have a place in your shopping cart. It is difficult to navigate in here, what with shelves so close together and the merchandise piled up to the ceiling. It could get a little claustrophobic during the rush, so make sure you come at a slow time (which is almost never, btw. Can't win in this.)
What I love is that I can depend on Regina's to have a steady stock of party goods. If you like to throw parties, they have all the supplies that you need, from silly hats, quirky sunglasses, wigs, fake mustaches, plates, utensils, ballons and party banners. I also buy from here my Mom's favorite everyday "pambahay" splash cologne, Nenuco, Denenes, and Petit Cheri, the imported ones from Spain that remind me of my childhood. read more
