I don't have a traditional office, so I'm always looking for remote places to work. I love a change of scenery and environment. Over the past year or two, I've slowly faded out my visits to a certain popular coffee establishment with a name shared by a character on Battlestar Galactica. So, when a friend told me about The Haverstick, I needed to check it out! I'm so glad I did. It has become my go-to office of choice! Housed in a community center of a local church, the environment has dim lighting and soft music. A perfect place to get focused and stay focused. They have a coffee bar that also offers a few food options. The coffee is good and very affordable. The staff is always friendly. There is usually only one person staffing the coffee shop, but they get to your order quickly. You just may have to wait if there is a large group, as happened to me once. But no worries. Simply have a seat and get to work, and they will call your name when your beverage and/or food is ready to pickup. The Haverstick is less a coffee shop and more a community shared-space work environment that offers coffee. They have a lot of comfortable chairs and tables of various sizes. The room is wide open and you never feel crowded, even if there is a decent amount of people. However, it's usually only a handful of other people around, so it's a great place to get things done. They also have conference rooms for rent. I'm grateful this church has opened its doors to the public and offers such a wonderful and inviting atmosphere. I look forward to returning soon and getting some more work done.

It's no secret that I'm a fan of CoHatch, a 30+ location network of co-working, community spaces…read morethat has been in existence for just under 10 years since its start by six friends in Columbus, Ohio. CoHatch, which has hosted at least a couple Yelp events that I can remember, currently has five locations in Central Indiana (a sixth, Circle Centre, I believe has closed). The locations include Polk Stables, Zionsville, Carmel, Noblesville, and this location in Broad Ripple. This location is housed in a former church (I know it used to be Common Grounds and I'm pretty certain it was at least one church before that). There's still some of the stained glass windows present. Managed by Jenna, whom I met during a Polk Stables Yelp event, this location seems to be quite busy. While I didn't get a chance to go around it as much as I'd have liked as I was here for an actual meeting, I was impressed with the decor, amenities, the people I met, and the efforts to make it accessible. Let's start there. Not every CoHatch location is truly accessible - they tend to locate in unique and often historic buildings. This can create challenges to true accessibility. This location has accessible parking in the back along with a ramp that goes up to one of the doorways. If you're not a member, you'll have to be let in. I wasn't completely thrilled with the end of the ramp - it's got a bit of a lip to it, however, the effort is obvious and it definitely works. The parking is also truly ADA compliant. I didn't notice all the businesses here, however, I did note that the Sagamore Institute maintains offices here. This location has the usual coworking spaces, a large event space, an outdoor area with a patio and kitchen, a sports simulator, and private offices. They have high-speed Wifi, coffee/tea options, meeting rooms (we used one to record an interview), 24/7 access, phone booths, office supplies, mailbox service, printing/copying, workshops for members, a kitchen, and an onsite manager. The neighborhood feels safe and is a pretty easy jaunt over to Broad Ripple's main strip. I like the decor, though found it a bit more plain than some of the locations. I think Polk Stables remains my favorite of the Central Indiana locations. This location is probably the closest to my home and it's definitely someplace I could see myself working. As someone who does a lot of social outreach/charity work, I definitely saw spaces I could bring to life here. I also did notice the restroom offered nice accessibility and there were some personal supplies in the restrooms - nice touch. I'd wanted to stop into this place and was pleased when I found out a meeting was going to be here. I finally got to check it out and was definitely impressed.

I liked that they had maintained the structure and tried to continue the architectural flairs and quiet spaces yet allowing for new design inside. It is used for various offices and you can either rent out an office space (small cubicle) or just work in one of the many co-work spaces. It was tasteful and expansive but also had several little nooks for a quieter space. There were outside spaces and even a Barbeque space that could be rented for parties or business outings. My meeting was a fun way to be exposed to this location and will definitely be returning to try out some of the other spots for meetings or work.

I started having problems Regus tampering with my mail, invoicing me for services not rendered, denying my payments when I wouldn't pay for the services I never even used, and more. I have all the emails and recorded phone calls to prove this beyond a shadow of a doubt. Since walking away from Regus, they have sent multiple threatening emails to try and scare/intimidate me into paying them money that I dont owe them. They have bounced the debt they claim I owe in-between different collection agencies who then also harass me for the debt even when I prove to them that I dont owe it. Regus also continues to send threatening emails even while a collection company is trying to recover the alleged debt which is extremely odd. They have done everything except take me to court for the debt because they know that I can prove that I don't owe the debt in front of a judge and get a ruling in my favor. They also know that I can prove breach of contract along with other things they don't want coming out in court and being put of official paperwork. I could not caution anyone enough to not do business with Regus. Look up Regus in different cities and see their horrible reviews by people who had similar experiences to me. Regus has a culture of treating people poorly and in ways that I believe needs to be investigated which is exactly why I'm sending all of my evidence along with a well-written complaint to all the proper state and federal entities that can run an investigation on them and dole out punitive measures. Update: Regus is so bad, you can't even leave reviews on most, if not all of their locations anymore. They have scrubbed a large amount of the really bad reviews similar to mine from the internet. I believe this information should be taken into consideration when deciding to do business with them as well.

It's a co-working space for driven local businesses, many of them being home services businesses. The owner of the space also owns Homesense Heating & Cooling (also loved on Yelp) and is an incredible person. He also lets The District Church use the space on Sundays. I love how multi-purpose and helpful the space is. Black Circle Brewing and Elena Ruz Cuban Cuisine are also located in the building, but on the back of the co-working space. CO-WORKING SPACE: The co-working space is nice and recently renovated. They offer 24/7 access, a complimentary mailbox, local coffee, networking events, business improvement seminars, conference rooms, and secure shipping/receiving for members of the space. You can rent anything from a local to a small or large office, to an entire floor. Their different packages are on their website! EVENT SPACE: The great space is also open to non-members to rent as well. We had a cocktail and painting class event here and loved using the multiple spaces. We had the cocktail class and catering set up in the beautiful kitchen, and used the multi-purpose room for the painting class. The owner Brian was super nice and helped us set up a few extra tables. They also have their different event space prices on their website too. The owner is so awesome, so this is definitely a place I love to support! They also do so much good for local businesses and the community, so def. check it out if you're looking for a space!

The interior is huge, with so many nooks and crannies for you to work, take a phone call, or have a meeting. I love that there are standing desks available, as well as funky booths along the wall. Platform definitely has its own character! The kitchen is a Dream with a Starbucks machine for all your coffee, tea, and hot chocolate needs, multiple fridges, microwaves, and even a tap with beer and kombucha (though it was out while I was there). The kitchen and dining space is huge and semi-private so those taking a break to eat and hang out won't be disruptive to those working away in the main space or private rooms. The WiFi worked wonderfully the whole time I was there on both occasions. The first time there were up to 50 of us using it at once. The second, close to 20 in our group and a few others using the space. If Platform was a little closer to where I live, I could totally see myself investing in a membership. It's beautiful, spacious, and the type of place where I can picture myself being super productive and enjoying the energy of working alongside others. If you're in Carmel, come check it out.
