I'm so thankful a little birdie told me about The Haverstick. This past year, I opened a business down the street in Nora. I don't have a traditional office, so I'm always looking for remote places to work. I love a change of scenery and environment. Over the past year or two, I've slowly faded out my visits to a certain popular coffee establishment with a name shared by a character on Battlestar Galactica. So, when a friend told me about The Haverstick, I needed to check it out! I'm so glad I did. It has become my go-to office of choice! Housed in a community center of a local church, the environment has dim lighting and soft music. A perfect place to get focused and stay focused. They have a coffee bar that also offers a few food options. The coffee is good and very affordable. The staff is always friendly. There is usually only one person staffing the coffee shop, but they get to your order quickly. You just may have to wait if there is a large group, as happened to me once. But no worries. Simply have a seat and get to work, and they will call your name when your beverage and/or food is ready to pickup. The Haverstick is less a coffee shop and more a community shared-space work environment that offers coffee. They have a lot of comfortable chairs and tables of various sizes. The room is wide open and you never feel crowded, even if there is a decent amount of people. However, it's usually only a handful of other people around, so it's a great place to get things done. They also have conference rooms for rent. I'm grateful this church has opened its doors to the public and offers such a wonderful and inviting atmosphere. I look forward to returning soon and getting some more work done. read more

The Haverstick is located in the back of "Church at the Crossing". When we arrived we got a bit turned around but a kind staff member of the church pointed us in the right direction. I ordered an iced latte with vanilla and white mocha as well as a croissant with sausage, egg, and cheese. Both were very tasty and I'd enjoy having them again! Whenever I go to The Haverstick to cowork with friends, I end up saying "Why don't I come here more often?" This is a no-fee space with plenty of seating options - small tables, big tables, comfy seating, even private rooms you can rent for a small fee! It's a large space, but no one is too loud, so it's a great space to get work done. I will say, the beverages leave a bit to be desired. I tried the chai tea latte and wasn't a fan, and my friend didn't love her coffee beverage. However, they have a nice selection of bottled beverages, pastries and packaged snacks that I'll opt for next time. read more

I just tried The Haverstick for the first time a few weeks ago. I hadn't realized it existed before... maybe because it's nestled behind The Church at the Crossing? But a no fee co-working space with its own coffee shop inside sounded well worth a try! The space has a lot of seating options. When you walk in, there are long tables to the left. If you keep entering the main space, there are couches, plush chairs, and standard table and chairs to choose from. The lighting is kept kind of dim. It's moody, but may be a bit tough on the eyes depending on what you're working on. The long tables over by the door have better light! I didn't take a look at the private rooms, but I know they have those available to rent for a fee. You can talk to the baristas about it. I haven't tried the tea yet, but that's next on my list! What I really like about this place, though, is that they allow you to bring in whatever food or drink you want. It's really a space designed to serve the community. That's not something you see every day! I'll definitely be back to The Haverstick soon! read more

Not sure if the cafe was short staffed and the barista was overwhelmed but I left before I was able to get my chai tea. When I walked in the cafe there was no one waiting in line and the barista took my order. I purchased a chai tea latte with oat milk and handed her a $5 bill. My order was $4.10 and I let her keep the change. I noticed a customer waiting impatiently at the pick up area. They took awhile to hand her the order. They went to the back right after that and I assumed it was to restock. I then went to wait by the pick up area as I assumed my order was coming out shortly. I had been waiting for about 10 minutes at that point. They came from the back and prepared making orders. (Which I assumed was mine in the making) As more customers came in the barista would stop what she was doing and take their orders. After about another 10 minutes the lady that seemed to be shadowing the barista noticed that I was waiting. They handed the lady that ordered after me her order. The barista came up to me and asked me if I was waiting on something. I told her I ordered a chai (she was the one who rung me up for it). I decided to just leave as I was on a time limit and didn't even request a refund. Very disappointed. read more

My friend and I were looking for a cute study place on the north side and we found this hidden gem. This is located around the back of the church. There are signs that will direct you. This place is so cozy, very quiet, and a great change of scenario. There are so many workplaces inside and outside. We had a great time. Also a cute spot to hang with friends and chit chat. There are plug ins every where for laptops. We're coming back again next week! read more

This warehouse of a coffee shop is located on the back side of the Church at the Crossing (465 and Keystone). The first thing you will notice when walking in is the massive amount of space inside. There are several tables, couches and reading chairs scattered throughout. They also have private rooms that you can rent with a group. This was my second visit to Haverstick and first time I decided to stay and get some work done. The menu is simple, yet effective. They have two sizes -- small (12 oz) and large (16 oz). I ordered a large cold brew coffee and then snagged a table to get some work done. There are three large tables by the entrance that have an abundance of outlets near them. Some of the other tables near the walls in the open area also have outlets, but most of the middle tables and chairs do not. I will say most of the chairs at the tables are metal and pretty uncomfortable but I was able to find a plush suede one. The vibes at this place are mellow with very faint, relaxing music playing in the background. Overall, my cold brew coffee was pretty good, but nothing spectacular. What makes this place a gem is the ambience, abundance of space and variety of seating that lends itself well to getting work done. Of note, it is only open 7am - 5pm on weekdays (3pm on Friday) and is closed on the weekends. read more

Both a co-working space and a coffee haus / sandwich shop tucked into the Northside of Indy, The Haverstick is worth finding. On the campus of the Church of the Crossing, The Haverstick is a little slice of calm & peace literally sitting alongside the hectic business of the I465 of Life. Just NE of the Haverstick avenue intersection with E 91st Street, The Haverstick is on the NE side of the Church Campus in a separate multipurpose building with easy access & parking. Food, coffee and service were great, but the setting was perfect for a little respite in a busy day. Definitely recommend! read more

This is a hidden gem of a work spot! The space has plenty of comfy chairs and couches plus tables set up far enough apart from one another to prevent eavesdropping! The music is quiet and brings a calming vibe, plus their separate rentable rooms allow for group meetings with your own space. The tea and coffee are tasty and they often have treats baked locally. I like to meet people here versus bigger coffee spots as there is private parking, plenty of seats and it is quiet enough to hear my group! Plus they have good tea options which is perfect for a later meeting. Free WiFi which is really rather fast for a space this size. Highly recommend it if you need a spot to chill or work. read more

This is a hidden gem. You wouldn't find it if you weren't looking for it. It's hidden on the back side of the church. It's the perfect place if you want to work out of the office or you work from home and need a change of scenery. It's a darker room but large space with just the right amount of lighting. I happened to find it for a quick business meeting and it has spread out tables and you can have a conversation without someone sitting on top of you. Man, Indy is killing it with coffee shops that double as places to work remotely. I keep stumbling on these kinds of hidden gems wherever I go. I feel like more people are working from home and/or working remotely as the years march on, so places where you can access free wifi, a power outlet and good coffee are priceless. The Haverstick is one such place that has all those things (wifi, outlets, coffee), as well as super friendly people behind the counter. The setup in the Haverstick is perfect for group meetings. There are lots of large tables, groups of couches and plenty of space to spread out. I work remotely and like a very specific setup: a small table with a power outlet right next to me. There aren't as many of those kinds of places to sit, so if you're a singleton who's looking to park herself in a small space and be ignored, you might not find that here. But if you are looking for a place to relax on a couch and you don't need a power outlet immediately, then this place is for you. The vibe in this coffee shop is very chill. I got a chai latte and just sat on one of the comfy chairs and zoned out. This visit was a reconnaissance mission only -- I was just scoping everything out, so I didn't bring my laptop with me this time. Next time, I might try to get some work done. One thing to note is that The Haverstick is in a building in a church. To get there, you need to drive around to the back of the church. You'll see signs pointing the way. You'll know you're there when you see a big awning and the Haverstick sign. read more

If you have any studying or work to do, THIS IS YOUR NEW SPOT. Never have I seen a coffee shop so conducive to co-working. It's essentially a free co-working spot: a big room full of huge tables, extremely nice, comfortable chairs, and plenty of room to spread out. It's attached to the side of a church and the church uses it as a coffee shop open to the public. I walked up to the coffee bar and was greeted by a big Yelp sign that said "50% off a beverage if you check in on Yelp". How amazing is that? They have coffees, tea, baked goods, fruit and more. I'm not a coffee drinker, but I enjoyed the tea combinations they had and chose Moroccan Mint. I'm so excited to have discovered this place on Yelp and will absolutely be back. It'd be a great place to have a meeting too. read more

Haverstick is a really co-working space back behind Church of the Crossing.Its a large space and seating is well laid out. Plenty of table top space if you need to spread out a bit. There are also meeting rooms and a printer available. The coffee shop is excellent and they have breakfast and lunch options. You can also bring food in. Staff are friendly. I've been wanting to visit The Haverstick for quite some time, but their limited hours don't work well with my schedule and I've simply never gotten the chance to check it out. However, I'm on a stay-cation this week following the Labor Day weekend and figured today would be a great chance to finally visit, check it out, grab some coffee, and do a little reading and work on an upcoming fundraiser. The Haverstick is a co-work space set inside Church at the Crossing. So, if your bothered by the church scene then this is probably not a co-working space for you. While the decor is, well, not very churchy, on this visit you could clearly see a space on the other side of some dividers that had been set up as a worship space. So, yeah, while they don't overly emphasize a religious theme in their decor they're not exactly trying to hide it either. Personally? I'm fine with that. The Haverstick is located on the backside of the rather large church. There are signs to direct you to the location and they're clearly visible. The entrance is located across the church's office building area. It's actually a rather beautiful area, though it is in close proximity to the highway and you can hear the traffic. The Haverstick offers a rather nice outdoor section that I found kind of tempting. It has a modest grade to it, though, and I was concerned my wheelchair with no brakes wouldn't do as well. They have a row of accessible parking spots that are easily ADA compliant. There's a modest ramp onto the sidewalk and the two-sided glass doorway is not particularly heavy. As you enter, you immediately are entering a rather serene space that leads to an even more serene space. You have to go fully in and to the right to get to the area where you can buy coffee, tea, burritos, baked goods, chips, and some bottle/can options. There were 2-3 employees working, though they seemed to be multi-tasking so I wasn't quite sure if they were all considered employees of The Haverstick. The barista, or whatever they call them at The Haverstick, was Mollie and she was friendly and helpful. It's important to remember that this is a co-work space and not technically a coffeehouse. So, you're going to get less a social vibe and more of a work/study vibe. I ordered a large Americano at $3 and took a spot at one of their tables. I noticed some tables had plugs available underneath and The Haverstick offers free wifi. It should be noted that you can actually just come and hang out at The Haverstick. While it's co-work, the general space is free to use. You can also reserve multiple rooms and multiple areas have various technical capabilities. The drinks range from $2-6; $6 being the fancier stuff like large French Press or Chemex. Most are $3-4. You also have milk/flavor add-ins for a slight upcharge. Private meeting rooms start at $25/hour, $80 for half-day, and $150 for the full-day. There are technical options that can up the price including a 55" smart television, HDMI hookup, and Apple TV. You can also rent the mainspace (which I think basically means "the facility" that seats 235. It's available weekdays after 6pm (when The Haverstick is closed), Saturdays (when The Haverstick is closed), and Sundays after 1pm (The Haverstick is closed; church is over). You truly can be a regular here. As long as you stay in their open space, use is without charge. I think this makes it a great option for students or anyone who really needs a quiet place to write or study. While people do talk, overall the place was rather quiet. The food options are quite limited, especially when I arrived in the early afternoon, but it's a really comfortable space with friendly people. I did sense just a wee bit of cliquishness, but I think part of that is simply the idea that there really are regulars and you could sense the familiarity with staff. While the hours of 8am - 6pm Monday-Friday will always make this more of a limited option for me, there's no question that should I need a quiet place to work, read, study, or just chill this is definitely a place I won't hesitate to visit again. I'm off the rest of the week this week and I'm already contemplating a return before the week is done. read more

Super cute gem for studying! It was a great experience with good coffee and a cozy little table with a wide space for getting my study cap on! I would definitely recommend it as there's lots of space and seats, wifi is decent and there are multiple areas that you can charge your phone and laptop! Including a phone charging pad on the table I was sitting. Don't think they have too much food but they have pasteries and decent coffee. Lots of parking too! First time visiting haverstick and it's the best coffee spot to work. It has a very peaceful working environment but also good for small groups to gather to socialize. I tried their seasonal snowfall latte and it was delicious! I love the coconut flakes. I also used the discount for checking in so that was a plus. Great open work space. 3 attractive qualities: free WiFi, no obligation to purchase, and no monthly fee to use. The shop has a very warm vibe and it has ample seating. It is on the campus of a Christian Church, so part of the room looks like it houses some sort of service-- maybe a youth group or something. The shop seems separate from the church in that there's no Christian messaging in the coffee shop area and no one comes to approach you upon your arrival. Cool space! Will be back! This place is a student's dream. It's so quiet, with tons of table space WITH nearby power outlets. The baristas are friendly and fast and the coffee is fresh. They don't really have food, so don't expect more than a muffin or scone if you need sustenance. It's everything you need if you require a place to read or get some work done while having a cup of java to sip. There is also really nice outdoor seating if you want some Vitamin D but it can get kind of loud. Pro tip: check in on Yelp for 50% off of a coffee!! read more

Honestly The Haverstick is one of my favorite finds in Indianapolis over the last couple of years. Located on Haverstick and 91st on the back end of Church at the Crossing, this space is PERFECT for getting work done. The building is large, quiet (!!!), and comfortable. Upon entering, you'll notice a wide variety of tables, chairs, and couches scattered about. The counter is impressive and is on the right hand side. The menu is short and simple, which fits the mold of this free co-working space. In addition, everything I've ever gotten (whether it's been coffee or a sweet treat) has been delicious. In fact, this was my go to for iced coffee a few summers ago! The staff is also very polite and sees that you are served well. I don't think I'm being bold in saying The Haverstick has been the #1 place for my productivity. I've spent many an hour there, and each time there is nothing short of excellent. I've been eyeing the Haverstick for a little while now, seeing all the great Yelp reviews about it and I just needed a solid day to be able to go, sit, and work. I got my day on a lazy, rainy, Tuesday afternoon and it was perfect for finding a table and settling in for a bit. The building is spacious and modern, very trendy and also serves as a worship space for church (presumably on Sundays, etc.). It has a perfectly sized coffee bar in it, may I suggest the Macchiato? It was very tasty! They don't have sugar-free syrups available but do have Truvia packets to use. Brickhouse Coffee beans out of Greenwood are used at this location. Bonus points for me! The table I sat at didn't have access to an outlet so I was only able to work for so long but if you are there at a non-busy time you can easily snag a seat next to an outlet. Or be bold and ask to share a big table with someone :) Lots of plush seats available for hanging out as well. Free spot, free wifi, super affordable drinks - can't get any better than that! Ok, 5 stars, I loved this coffee shop! I like to go to coffee shops to get out of the house to get work and studying done, but I am always so surprised how loud/close quarters/uncomfortable many coffee shops are. This is probably in my top favorites of all time because it was: -cheap and delicious coffee (customizable too) -super kind people working -a big open space with lots of options of where to set up shop, but none too close to other people -SUPER comfy sofas -an all around good atmosphere I already can't wait to go back and get some more stuff done! I think I found one of my new study spots. No membership hassle, great tasting coffee/espresso, & so much space available to have meetings/study/read/etc... you can even reserve rooms all to yourself if you have a larger group joining you! Pro: Less noise than your regular coffee shop and more space. Con: Expand on the menu just a bit. Maybe just have your options presented in a more efficient way, redecorate or rearrange the way it's presented. Hence the 4/5 stars, overall pleased. read more

As far as places to meet-up with a friend or client go, it doesn't get much better than this! Super cozy and trendy. The concrete floors, fun furniture, and a farmhouse tables create a cute, modern, eclectic atmosphere. Tons of space to meet with a large group or just to sit by yourself and read a book or get some work done. You can also reserve a meeting room if you know your group would like a little privacy. Ellie, one of the baristas, is adorable and friendly. They have a variety of coffees and teas in the menu, as well as some snacks and a few homemade goodies. This is a hidden gem. And I'm serious about the hidden part. You can see it when you pass by on I-465, but you have to go up Haverstick and around a church to get there. Thankfully there are signed pointing the way from Haverstick Rd. And once you figure it out the first time, you're good to go. read more
