Our gutters were leaking and not draining well, even after being cleaned and attached with gutter guards. On top of that we also noticed a couple of troubling spots on the roof as well. After reading reviews about Neil Labuda we decided to give him a try. He came for a consultation right away and gave us an estimate; we decided to go with him even though we didn't ask for a second opinion-- we liked what he had to offer. He is very professional in his presentation and explained all the pros and cons of everything very clearly. We signed the contract and had a beginning date set. Due to the weather (not his fault) we had to start later on. The task was to change all the gutters and to repair the roof of a 3000sqf ranch house. Estimated time to completion was around 5 to 7 days, he made it in 4! He worked most of the time alone (with the exception of one day), but very efficiently, and hard. He hardly took a lunch break. He came every day around 7 am and went all the way to 5 pm. The result: The look is great, I should write in the future regarding the functionality, but it really looks amazing. He gives a 10-year warranty for the the gutters and a good warranty for the roof repairs as well. He cleaned very well when the job was done even rolling a giant magnet in case any screws or nails were left on the ground. The price: it wasn't cheap and honestly we do not know how market-fair it was since is the first time we deal with this, however the job was done right. He was very honest and even gave us a break for extra repairs he had to do on the roof, which we really appreciate since we are struggling a bit with so many repairs we have to do. Conclusion: He is knowledgable, trust-worthy, and very professional. The owner brought in an associate to take over the project, claiming they miscalculated the needs by 100 cubic yards. We are now facing demands for an additional $2,200, bringing the total demand to $7,700 for a job originally locked in at $3,000. Once the money changed hands, the business completely checked out and refused to remain involved. The final results left behind are completely unacceptable and require a costly overhaul to fix. The grading is entirely wrong, causing water to pool directly toward the house foundation instead of draining safely. Furthermore, instead of the permanent lawn seed promised in our quote, cheap rye seed was planted. Throughout this process, there has been an absolute lack of accountability and highly unprofessional behavior on our property. Our agreement and initial payments were directly with this company, yet the owner refused to oversee the project or honor the quote, abandoning us to deal with his associate demanding more money. Homeowners, protect yourselves before hiring: Never give a down payment up front. Get absolutely everything in writing, including the exact total price, specific soil amounts, drainage requirements, and precise seed types. Make sure the entity you pay is the one doing the actual work. Demand proof of insurance and call the provider directly to confirm the policy is active before work begins and what it covers. Don't pay anything unless the job is 100% complete and satisfactory. We do not recommend this business.
