Wow! Thank you Relax Sun Spa! That was the BEST shin massage I've ever paid for!! Thanks for massaging my ankles, shins, and tops of feet! I hobbled in because my plantar fasciitis in my right foot was flaring up. And I mentioned it when I sat in the chair before you even got started AND you still didn't massage my FEET! I asked for a 40 minute FOOT massage. Not only did you short my session by 10 minutes, you also stopped to text someone several times during my paid session. And yet you expected me to pay for the full 40 minutes. And I did, but didn't leave a tip. (Yup, that was me!) You barely touched my feet, aren't you primarily a foot reflexology spa? What the heck!? This was my 3rd and final visit! First visit was great! Probably because I mentioned, it was my 1st visit. I've been searching for a good Foot Spa since we moved back to Austin. I'm glad they're making an appearance in our city, but this isn't quite as wonderful as I'd hoped. I received the #2 combination of chair and foot massage. The pricing is on point, as is the foot massage room. The comfortable chairs, dim lighting, and music are perfect. The chair massage area and getting up mid treatment to switch from foot to chair massage are less than ideal. I would have preferred more consistent pressure - the other foot spas/reflexology places I've been to are usually not shy about pressure. The head and neck massage were outstanding. I will request more of this next time. While there is some room for improvement, I will be returning as it's one of the few establishments where you can get an hour of decent massage for under $45. read more

If they had a slogan it would be "Hurts So Good." I've been several times for the chair relax massage when my neck and shoulders are tight/knotted/painful. The massages are hard core - lots of intense pressure, full-body weight behind pressing elbows into your muscles, digging out all your sore spots and knots. The next day you'll be sore, but all the tension and pain is gone! My only complaint is that sometimes it's really just painful and they don't seem to pick up on "ow!" But the setting is peaceful, the people are nice and the transaction parts of selecting service and paying are quick and efficient. read more

Wow. I felt like I needed a cigarette after that experience....and I don't smoke. I got a gift certificate for #2 combo (chair massage and foot "joy" reflexology) for Mother's Day. It was kind of like a combination of deep tissue massage, Airrosti therapy (painful but healing tissue work), and a chiropractic appointment all in one. I got kneaded, twisted, pummeled, stretched and cracked. It was great!!! Painful at times, but super therapeutic and I feel amazing. And like a need to drink a ton of water to detox. The ambiance was very calm, dark, and quiet in the foot room. The Asian decor was beautiful. The only reason I didn't give it 4 stars is because when I walked in two workers were standing there talking like it was empty...they weren't sure how to handle my GC and asked someone in the back. Then they had me sit and soak my feet in warm water tub with a plastic liner...then they both disappeared for like 20 min! Another Lady came in and someone hurried out to greet her and told her to sit but after 10 min of waiting she left. Very little English communication....I almost thought they forgot I was there? I did see 2 more workers and two clients leave so I'm sure they were busy in back, but then why be standing around when I arrive and never to be seen again for 20 min. Oh well, no biggie just ran over the hour I had set aside because thankfully this 20 min time to soak was on top of my hour of treatment. I will go back for sure! Im very disappointed. I took my sister for her first massage. She really enjoyed it. But I got the same guy who loves to use his phone. This was my second time and same experience. If you see someone with phone ask them to stop using it. He stopped frequently and using my time and money to answer text msges. My niece was waiting for us and told me he used his phone 7-10 times in my 15 min massage. It's frustrating because every client should be treated with respect. I was really impressed with the foot massage I received here. I have really bad plantar fasciitis, fallen arches, etc. My arch's were aching to the point where I couldn't even stand or walk without pain. I came here a did the 50 minute foot massage. The man (I didn't catch his name) was thorough, loosened up my calves a lot, and alleviated the soreness in my feet. He was intuitive and seemed to focus on sore areas and even stretched out my feet. When I left I was able to walk with ease and even felt good enough to to my dance class the next day! This place is no frills and not a spa experience, but who cares? I get massages to feel better, not to be fancy. If you are looking for pain relief come here. I'm planning to go back and also try their other massages. read more

Worst table massage I've ever had in my life. She didn't even touch my thighs or IT bands. I specifically asked for her to work on my right glute and hip, but instead she put her elbow on my bursa sack on the side of my hip, which was super painful. I asked her to please stop putting pressure on my bone, and she ignored me. Funny enough the rest of the massage felt like she was just sort of running her hands on my back and neck, no pressure at all. She then stopped at 50 minutes when I requested an hour. It's a real shame because I used to like this place, but after that massage and all the loud talking from employees, I won't be coming back. What a find. This is old school Chinese reflexology: intense, deep-tissue with some important stretches. Almost every muscle group in my body got treated in a 90 min. massage. Not what I expected. Went in for a 40 min foot massage and it was so rough and painful, they don't even ask you first what pressure you'd like or what you want worked on specifically. In the middle of my massage a lady comes up asking me if 30 mins would be ok instead (assuming they were shortstaffed) and said ok. I ended up being charged the same price for a 40 min but I only got a 30 min massage. At that point I was so ready to leave, so I didn't care. I have visited the Brodie location twice for chair massage and foot joy massage. Good and inexpensive deep tissue massages. I give them 3 stars for the nonstop talking and laughing among the employees. I find it rude and unprofessional. It does interrupt the massage flow and trying to let go and relax. Amazing quality and price. I have been to a few Asian massage places. This is definitely more of a massage to relax and loosen things up. Not really if you have specific knots you want to get worked out. I felt comfortable and the gentleman was attentive. I did combo 4. I was pleased with the bumpy bottom of the bucket of warm water that you soak your feet in at the beginning. After the foot relax part I was taken to a different room that was private. I already got excited seeing poles installed above the table. I'm actually not sure he walked on my back. I know he definitely got on top of the table with legs on either side and applied downward pressure with his hands. The massage was amazing except for one thing which is the reason for four stars... my face didn't fit nicely into the hole of the table. It isn't like a normal massage table where it extends past the table and the face rest is inserted into the edge of the table. This table the hole is pre cut into it. So I had to choose between letting my face sit in the hole but I would have my esophagus smashed into the edge of the hole when pressure was applied near my shoulders, or to sit my forehead on the edge and put hard pressure on my brow and have to sort of hold my neck straight. But still enjoyable and worth it! I will definitely be back. read more

Its unfortunate that I have to leave a review like this. I have been going for so long as it is simply convenient. But the truth is they are so hit and miss on their massages.I have experienced great massages on some days, then terrible ones on others. Last night is the first night I went back in a while and I purchased selection 2 as always which is 40 on feet which I desperately needed and 20 on the back/neck, arms. IT WAS THE WORST and I've had 100's of massages!! A- I kept saying please stop using so much pressure (and I like alot of pressure) as it was like they were so rushed they just were trying to speed through it and it literally hurt so bad. They massaged my legs (front mostly) and side and tops of my feet the whole 40 minutes. I literally pulled my feet back and held up the bottom at one time so that that would atleast get touched for a split second as I thought that is what I was paying for not a side and top foot massage.What is that supposed to do for me? As if that were not unrelaxing enough and even painful, then I moved to the chair and got the most intense massage of my life. It was so uncomfortable that I literally almost got up and walked out as I was getting increasingly more aggravated with how intense and terrible it was. At some point, the guy massaging me started yelling with another male worker and at some point changed with another guy unbeknownst to me and this guy aggressively karate chopped me to death (arms, shoulders, back, neck). Seriously, no massage, just grabbing my arms and shoulders and beating on me for almost 10 minutes as I noticed they didn't even do the full hour paid for which I was just relieved it was over at that point. I will NEVER go there again. He took my money quick and left me standing there while he ran off to another waiting client already seated. I woke up with so many bruises this morning on my legs and sides of feet and a couple of light ones forming on my left arm. This is not true reflexology as I have known for a long time but again enjoyed the convenience as stated and some visits got relief. When they do your stretches at the end, it is really dangerous as although I am pretty flexible, they jerk your hands overhead, pull arms behind you tight, and twist your body and neck from side to side aggressively which could cause some serious injury. Also when you find someone that you like and who is good and call for an appt, they will always tell you that person is there but when you arrive, stick you with someone else and say "its okay, he/she will do good job for you!" They are all about getting you in and making that money. They also start talking and laughing many times very loud which is super disturbing when you are trying to relax and I've had them text with one hand while massaging me with the other and even get up and greet someone new, have them pick out their package and even put them in a chair with their feet soaking to ensure they stick around I'm sure prior to coming back to MY massage and carrying on. Unfortunately this has been more of my experiences recently. Like I said, you may luck up and have a good one but I promise you they wont stay for whatever reason and you will end up with another unskilled one that karate chops you to death and leaves you feeling like you just want it to be over. I'm a big fan of Chinese Foot Massages - I've had them in several cities in the US as well as in China and Hong Kong. I think it typically depends on who you get and what their style is. This place was nicely decorated and a bit unique in that I've always had the full thing take place in the cushiony chair...you soak your feet and then they do basically a full body massage with lots of focus on the feet and lower legs all on that chair. Here, they did the legs in the first chair and then moved you over to a chair massage for the back and arms. They used lotion for the legs and feet, but not the upper body (on the fence about this - I did appreciate not leaving with my hair and face oily as I often do from getting foot massages, but a massage with lotion/oil is generally preferable! This was definitely DEEP tissue...I've had lots of deep tissue massages, but this left me sore across my entire upper back. They do really get into the muscles and break up the knots, and it's a great value relative to a regular massage at European massage spas (although I've had Chinese Foot Massages in the US for $30-$35/for an hour so it was a bit pricier than that.) But it was intense. I also didn't love the chair massage part because there were point when my throat was being pushed into the edge of the chair. I was having to actively resist in order to prevent myself from feeling like I was going to get choked until I was able to reposition myself. I'll probably try out a few other places before committing to this place as my go-to. And I think I'd be more inclined to go if I had some really sore spots versus when I'm seeking relaxation. read more

This was my first massage experience. I entered near 7 at night hoping they could squeeze me in. I just moved and needed a message to get the stress out of me. I walked in to find a few of the employees eager to see me. They were so kind and helpful. They don't speak great English so it's nice they have the menu outside before you enter so you know what you want before hand. I opted to test out Combo 1. They lead me into a relaxing room and I had my first foot massage. It was quiet and peaceful. The lady also gave me a quick head massage which I wish lasted longer because it helped my headache relax. Then when I thought it was all over, she lead me to the massage chairs. Please note these massages are deep tissue massages. I did not know that. The elbow digging was unexpected but my body was so grateful for it! My back has been my trouble spot and it felt so relaxed when she was done! When I got home, my boyfriend said I looked happier so that's a plus. My only regret is that I didn't pay for a longer massage! When I go back next time, I'll get a table massage. read more

There are five or six reflexology places around Braker Lane and Lamar that are better and cheaper than this place. Having said that the experience wasn't completely terrible. The massage was top-notch. But I could only give three stars because of the atrocious customer service. The menu wasn't very clear to me but when I looked confused a woman stopped somebody else's massage to come over and "answer" questions. I used quotation marks there because she literally couldn't explain to me what counted as a chair massage since they had two types of chairs. I'm used to limited communication skills but even pointing couldn't get across my question. Eventually I felt bad ruining the other person's massage so I just picked something. But I was still looking forward to the massage because hey $42 for an hour. As I said the massage was great. Then the poor customer service started. Another employee sat down next to me and and started chatting in conversational volume with my massager (technician?). And there were definitely a few times when my person left the room to handle something then came back to her conversation. I guess that's what I get for interrupting somebody else's massage before. Then I moved to the upright chair for a different type of massage. Their conversation continued but now I could open my eyes and see my lady standing there chatting while only using one hand to rub my neck as an afterthought. Oh and now the other employee was across the room so the volume was louder. Plus in this new room ANOTHER employee was on their cellphone playing a game or texting. I'm not sure but whatever it was the VOLUME WAS ON. I just couldn't focus on relaxing with all of the commotion. tl;dr: Massage was well worth the price but don't go there if you need quite with your peace. read more
