The congregation is super friendly, folks go out of their way to introduce themselves to new comers & make them feel welcome & at home but without being overly clingy. (if you've been church hunting, you know what I mean) The thing that sealed the deal for us was Pastor Zach, a young, vibrant, and super enthusiastic Pastor, who delivers a powerful, moving Christian message that stays with you throughout the week. He draws from scripture, making it personal & accessible for everyone, young & old- and you truly feel the Holy Spirit moving thru him as he delivers God's message each Sunday! The choir is amazing as well- if you like more traditional try the 10am, if you like contemporary go for the later service. We have been attending now since November of 2010, feeling certain that this was meant to be my new church home I made the decision to join this past spring & look forward to growing in my spirituality as I grow with my new church family. Very highly recommend you check out this Christ Centered, loving & welcoming church. You can even preview a Pastor Zach sermon on the SOPC website: www.shermanoakspc.org/

In my opinion being kind, respectful, and nice should automatically been granted and given to people. Especially to the ones that work, preach and welcome you into their beautiful church. This review is specifically about father Mike and the others that work the community. He is very condescending, pretentious, and not very kind. PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH father Mike!!! People at this church are not very nice, nor are they kind or friendly, They walk away from you or and don't care what you have to ask or say. I have already experienced this at this church at least 5 times by different people...including father Mike. If they don't know you and you are not their favorite or a regular face that they see, they will ignore and silence you right infront of you. If that's NOT RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL, then what do you call this kind of BEHAVIOR?? AND THESE ARE CHURCH PEOPLE? PART OF THE CONGREGATION?? BE NICE, KIND AND RESPECTFUL to everyone and treat everyone with kindness, respect and fairness. And it doesn't cost anything. If they started charging for kindness...they would shape up and get their acts together. Yesterday was Easter Sunday and I called around 10:45am to find out if there was a mass and the time for the last mass. A man answered the phone with an attitude and anger in his voice and said YES, IT'S EASTER. I said I know it's Easter, but what time is the last mass??He then was more curt, short, rude, and abrupt with his one word answer and said 12. To top that off he hung up on me before I got a chance to say thank you. This happened few times with me at this church with their people. Totally UNACCEPTABLE!!! Is this how GOD wants people to treat one another?? The church itself is beyond BEAUTIFUL, BRIGHT and I felt in love with it instantly. That is when I started going there in the beginning. I truly loved going there for the past 6 years. Now, I feel like I am on pins and needles when I have to walk in. I feel like I am NOT WELCOME HERE at St. Francis De Sales Roman Catholic Church. But that's ok. God sees everything and watches everyone from above. I believe it is time for me to find another church to go to where I am much more WELCOMED!! I wish I could have given 5 stars, but for now after all this that I have witnessed and experienced...2 stars will do until they change their attitude and behavior. One star for the beautiful church, and the second star for the garden and outside of the church. The architecture. Last but NOT least, when it is time for donation and accepting other type of donations/offerings such as, clothes, shoes, food etc...they put their fake smiles along with their poker faces and accept my donation/S HAPPILY with OPEN ARMS.

A church's role is to teach and emphasize Scripture and the moral teachings of Jesus Christ. It should not be expected to alter biblical truth to avoid offense. This church remains rooted in Scripture and clearly teaches biblical principles with love and conviction. I have never heard Pastor Drew speak hatefully or disrespectfully about any group of people. Instead, he focuses on Jesus Christ, moral accountability, and living according to God's Word so that we may have eternal life. That clarity is rare and deeply needed today. Pastor Drew is one of the best pastors I have encountered because he teaches the Bible as it is written, without watering it down. Just as a teacher must understand a subject fully in order to teach it properly, a pastor must faithfully explain Scripture and its purpose for our lives. That is exactly what he does. Biblical passages such as Leviticus 18:22 and Romans 1:26-27 are part of Scripture and are often referenced in discussions about morality. Teaching from the Bible does not equal hate..it reflects faithfulness to Christian doctrine. Those who disagree are free to attend churches that align more closely with their beliefs, but this church should not be attacked for remaining biblically grounded. I was baptized in 2023 and have personally experienced the presence of the Holy Spirit through this church. My faith has grown stronger, my heart has been transformed, and my walk with Christ has deepened. I do not judge or condemn anyone; I simply choose to follow Jesus Christ wholeheartedly and live according to His teachings. This is a wonderful church for those seeking truth, structure, and genuine biblical teaching.

Or Miles who is enthusiasm personified! It's a joy to show people God's love and His truth in this superficial, mean-spirited city. For one, the pastor and his wife did IVF which I strongly do not agree that it is a good practice and is playing "God". The 2nd issue was the way Josh was towards the women's bible study in emails in terms of the location (using a guest house) and there was some drama with a woman saying that this guy harassed her in the church and overall I just got a bad taste in my mouth with the church. It's too bad and I know Greg Laurie initially helped start this church but I do not wish to go back because of those red flags. I'm surprised that the church is still together but hopefully they have ironed out issues.

I love Turning Point! I've left the church before and returned after many years away, and while…read moresome things have naturally changed and evolved over the years, the core values of loving God and loving people has remained consistent. As a whole, this is a community of God-loving, Spirit-filled followers of Jesus who care for one another and welcome visitors with open hearts and minds and a genuine enthusiasm for those seeking connection with God and the church. Over the years I have seen a consistent truth that has impacted and influenced my own walk with God through its many seasons: Jesus must be at the center because however sincere the intentions may be, a close-knit family of believers is not without its flaws. I've been hurt by people, but no more than my own weaknesses and faults may have hurt others at times. I've been let down by imperfect people, and I have found myself being unable to meet every need expected of me by others as well. I think that is part of how we grow. We learn in a community of people who need grace. We learn not only how to give that grace freely, but also how much we need a lot of grace ourselves. The consistent mindset I've encountered has been to strive toward resolution and make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. Individuals are encouraged to engage but are free to choose their own level of involvement. I've learned to keep in mind that every one of us is fighting a hard battle at any given time, and not to take perceived slights personally without the willingness to communicate openly about how I'm feeling. I've learned to forgive. Sometimes it's hard. But... Sometimes being willing to admit when I need forgiveness is even harder. So as with any family, grace and mutual respect are important, and processing challenging experiences in healthy, mature ways is one of the many valuable things that the people of Turning Point have helped me to develop. God's purpose and plan is to build us all together to become a Holy Temple in the Lord. The Bible is filled with flawed families figuring it out! Reaching spiritual maturity is a different process than reaching those seeking a new relationship with God. I've found both of those experiences and everything in between to be more than capably navigated within this little church family. I was brand new once too. People stepped up to help me learn from the Bible. I've seen the men and women of Turning Point lay down their lives to help enrich the lives of others and deepen their experiences of God throughout the diverse stages of literally hundreds of unique transformative journeys. I've been a single man, grateful to be able to build strong relationships with my spiritual sisters within this church family for over 15 years. So many memories and experiences have become foundational to my identity. I eventually met the woman who would become my beloved wife here after a few dating relationships that did not end up at the altar. Through the tumultuous and the tranquil times and seasons of my life, the Rock has and always will be Jesus. He has been my peace when there was only chaos. But the love and support of the church family has meant so much to me, I'm not sure where I'd be without those deep connections developed over the years in moments spent by doing life together with my brothers and sisters here at Turning Point. Depending on the people who comprise the church to meet every expectation we might unknowingly have is unfair and unhealthy. But there is deep love here. For God and the church and the world around us all. With many church homes to choose from, I've found my place alongside the people of Turning Point because we take the Bible seriously, we trust that Jesus is in control, we try to keep in step with the Holy Spirit, and we value the risky responsibility to care fiercely for each other and open our hearts and lives to help people who want to build a deeper relationship with God. Turning Point Church has been my church home for over half of my life now. While this body of believers has never been able to claim perfection, they've also never stopped striving to be closer to the church Jesus intended. The Holy Spirit lives within this body of believers, and God is working powerfully to move us all toward maturity in Christ and to hopefully be a light for the world we're reaching out to impact. Peace and much love! Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. God is good. We all need help along the way and I've found it in Jesus here. Thanks!
