I was contacted by Reliance First Capital via Lending Tree looking for information on a home equity loan. The person who responded initially seemed competent over the phone. However, he didn't listen that I didn't want a refi with cash back - just a loan. Once that was straightened out, he passed me off to a supervisor as he couldn't answer all of my questions. The supervisor spent quite some time trying to get up to speed on what I was looking for. Unfortunately, he had attitude and spoke to me like I didn't understand loans. I politely told him that Reliance did not have a loan that fit my needs. He then huffily responded that Reliance would send me a letter formally cancelling my loan application - interestingly, I was only looking for information. The poor reviews of this company are accurate - call center business model, poor attitude personnel, start with one sales rep and get handed off to someone else, and an overall POOR experience. Regan Rutledge really outshined the competition. He was the first to call when I solicited re-fi proposals on LendingTree.com, the first to pull my Tri-Merge report, and the first to recognize my best bet was FHA. Other brokers kept calling saying they could beat Reliance's closing costs, but none could. As time wore on, it became clear that Regan had done the heavy lifting up front to avoid disappointing me late in the process. While Reliance did request additional documentation during the approval phase, there were relatively few surprises. Regan and his team held my hand the whole way and the loan closed right on schedule. This was the first loan I shopped and applied for and closed entirely online without meeting anyone face to face and I have to say it went very smoothly. I really appreciated how readily most of the lenders bidding for my business shared detailed closing estimates. Having all those documents available online really aided my decision making. I contacted Tony Palermo from Reliance Capital on May 16 to inquire about the possibility of obtaining a mortgage. I did not know if it would even be possible for me as I have had credit problems in the past. Tony spent some time with me and asked me questions about my job, finances, bills current and past and basically what my story was. He said he could help. I was still skeptical, but he put me in touch with a realtor (Sharon) who took me out the following day to look at places. I had a preapproved letter in my hand! I was still nervous that this would not work out, but went looking anyway. I found my dream property just three days later. I submitted an offer and it was accepted. I completed the mortgage application and the process began. Tony was in touch with me every single day. If I had a question and he didn't answer my call right away, he called me back within minutes. I knew where my loan stood every single day. On June 22, a little more than 30 days after contacting Tony for the first time, I closed on my new home. I did not use Reliance First Capital because they did not offer the product I was looking for. They still tried to sell me something I was not interested in. After going with a local bank I continue to get calls from Reliance and I continue to tell them I have gone with a local bank. I do not think they know how to take no for an answer. Being high pressure (annoying) is not a good way to do business. Go with a local bank for more low pressure personal service. Reliance also ran my credit without my permission. read more

I made contact with Reliance via email on the evening of Sept. 21. On the morning of Sept. 22 I received a phone call from Miles Commodore in reference to my request. Miles was able to give me all of the details and answer all of my questions within a 15-20 minute phone call. From there, it took a couple of emails and the assistance of Michael Schaut for me to close on my refinance loan on Oct. 22. Of course I had to be proactive and provide the team all of my documents in a timely manner to have the loan close as fast as it did. In the end, because of this refinance, I will save about $250 a month and reduced my loan from 15 years to 10 years. I would STRONGLY recommend Reliance First Capital. read more

There was only one good thing they were fast, however that is to keep you from seeking other quotes. My experience good faith estimate was off by 2000 by the time I found out it was too late. they did not understand a condo policy made me over insure the property. It was a cash out refinance they held my money for 5 days past the right of cancelation, when I asked for the wire receipts response was nothing.It was worst mortgage experience as far as contract administration I have ever had. The broker was a very nice person and her intentions were good but it was clear my financial needs were not important. read more

This company is a fraud as Sam said. I dealt with them for over one year thinking I was approved for a refinance at a lower rate. Every day I contacted them I was told I would close in 30 days. They attempted to make me not pay my mortgage on time by saying we will close in 30 days and we have a payoff. Then I would contact them a few days prior to the closing and no answer or they would state they needed additional information for my credit file. It went on for months. Then I filed a complaint with the manager West who said I will take over and followup. He was worse. Same games and lies. They are a fraud. Do not deal with them. They will attempt to worsen your credit report, ask for credit card info for appraisal costing 400$ dollars or more. Then no refinance. Be very careful!!!!!! read more

I wanted to refinance with Reliance First and the representative seemed eager to help. She promised to call back the next day and called back 2 days later only to tell me that she couldn't help because had all these medical collections. Four times I had to tell her I didn't have anything in collections and she in turns says oh I am sorry I got you mixed up with someone else. I said forget it I will just stay with who I have. If she is mixing my financial information up this early I want no parts. She continued to push and say she will leave my file open. I said no close it I will just keep my original mortgage and pay down my debt as I had been. This woman says well I can't help you and no one else here can.... but told me to call back in a few months to see what they could do. The way the experience ended was not good at all. read more

I had processed a refinance request through Lending Tree. Of course when you do this, expect lots of phone calls and emails from potential lenders. I researched each lender to make an informed decision. I decided to go with someone other than Reliance First Capital. I didn't choose this lender because the loan officer that reached out constantly called to the point it was almost harassing and that isn't including the emails, then he berated me for going with someone else. His first message he sounded like a really bad used car salesman. Then he proceeded to call and hang up numerous times during the day. I contacted him via email the next day to let him know that were researching our lenders. Oh, he still proceeded to call and hang up during the day. I informed him today that we chose another lender. I immediately get an email basically saying I couldn't had made an informed choice and that he would provide a better service. No, you leaving a message sounding like a cheesy salesperson and constantly calling my home and hanging up is the reason I did not choose you. So glad I said no, especially after he got salty about not getting my business. read more

They are tricky and sneaky. They quote prices and say you got a great rate, but wait.... the don't tell you that is with the maximum points. If you don't ask, you don't know. Closing costs are double of other banks. They said the were a true bank!? I'm sticking with a bank that tells you the whole truth of their quotes. read more

It caused a great deal of stress and frustration, having to cancel and re schedule with the closing lawyer.We were also supposed to have vacated our old home and had to pay more money due to the mess up.
