He taught my wife and I about what a home mortgage really is and walked us through a lot of the life-scenarios we are embarking on giving some great advice on leveraging our home in the short and long term. One thing you'll hear him say is something akin to you get a physical checkup, a financial checkup, and others yearly.. Why aren't you looking at your home which is the largest asset you own on a regular basis. With his help we navigated through a new mortgage for our home and a new path to travel for the next few years in helping us achieve goals of business and growing family. If you are looking into ways to leverage your home as an piece of your financial future you owe it to yourself to give Tom a call.

In April 2025, I was online looking to begin the refinance process through Lending Tree. I did…read morereceive a number of calls right away, but one person in particular, Tracey Schuelke from Reliance First Capital, in Charlotte, North Carolina: 1) called 2) texted and 3) e-mailed and basically put herself to the front of the line and I related to her right away because I'm quite persistent myself (something that would prove to be very valuable in this process). Tracey immediately felt very comfortable to talk with, she explained the process well and we began gathering documents and starting the journey. My previous mortgage was through the USDA and they became the most unbelievable source of contention. As Tracey said, 'government should not be in business'. A refinance can get pretty detailed, laborious and time consuming, but at no point would I admit defeat, through all the hoops and delays, through a government shutdown, through a job loss, through two appraisals with corresponding repairs, through improving my credit score, and the loooooonnnggg wait for the USDA to do pretty much anything and waiting for their customer service department to answer their phone (hold times could be anywhere from 10 to 90 minutes or more), but we pressed on. We were on the verge of closing several times, but then something would cause the bottom would drop out. Tracey became my best cheerleader throughout the entire process, as well as a friend. She had much to deal with in her life, including personal health trials, that anyone from the outside looking in would not believe her stamina and her drive to help me (and I'm sure many others) out. At some point we saw the light ... you know, the one that you never thought would come. I hopped on it, she jumped on it and we almost didn't make it this last time, but it finally happened. Happy happy joy joy!! The closing occurred in the last week of January 2026. I became just as much of the process in dealing with the USDA, and I wasn't about to let them bury me. Noooo way! Today, I am in so much a better financial position than I ever could have dreamed of. The right mortgage (also rolled in my car loan and HELOC), and some cash. I was able to help family members out, I now have an emergency fund and peace of mind. Tracey kept me informed every step of the way. She knows her job and could do it blindfolded, but the important difference was, it never felt mechanical. She truly cares about people. I wanted to also give a special shout-out to Anzhela Pikulik, the behind the scenes mortgage processor that was a true professional with patience (I think, however, all three of us wanted to shake our fists at the USDA, but we prevailed and won.) If you ever become involved with Reliance First Capital, know that you will be cared for by a group of amazing professionals that get up and do their job every single day. They take pride in their work, and they do it well. I'm sending them two dozen of my *world famous* bacon cherry chocolate caramel cookies in thanks, because I will be eternally grateful for what they did. They are my refinance people for life. Even when interest rates go down, they'll be popping back up and getting this done again to help save me some money. Thank you to everyone there; you guys are the best!!!

There are numerous mortgage lenders everywhere. How do you know who to work with? You work with…read moresomeone with many years of experience who has a strong understanding of the mortgage laws and market. In 2020 I reached out to Rebecca as a first time home buyer. I was beyond confused about how it all worked and I was so glad to have come across someone so informative and down to earth. Mortgages have multiple terms involved that a person not in the business most likely has never heard before. Rebecca is patient and helps you understand every word, twist, and turn. The most important thing about a mortgage lender is their understanding, experience, and ability to get you to the closing table in a timely manner. Rebecca has all three things down pat but also is always only a text or call away. You never have trouble reaching her for any question big or small. I appreciate Rebecca's understanding of the lending trends and interest rates as she helps you make the best decision for your financial situation. She is also here for the journey. If you are curious about how the lending process works and what needs to be in place in order to secure a home in the future she is humble and patient enough to share her expertise with you even if you're not quite ready. Rebecca was such a strong mortgage lender for my first home transaction I used her again for the purchase of my second home. When I first thought of buying a second home I wasn't even sure what I'd be approved for or what the payment would look like. I sent her an email and she replied back with her availability of the next week to have a call to discuss. She immediately remembered my fiancé and I and greeted us warmly. We gave her a few details about our current financial situation and she was able to give a very high level estimate of what things might look like if we got approved. From our first call she painted a picture that made my fiancé and I confident enough to move forward with our second home purchase. We highly recommend Rebecca to anyone looking to secure mortgage lending no matter your financial or marital situation her many years of experience make her a specialist in any scenario. Do yourself a favor and work with Rebecca for your lending needs and I assure you she will connect all the dots!
