We had a service technician come to the house and diagnosed our furnace needed a part , this was in March paid it with visa . Today they call me that the amount is past due 6 months later. I would never recommend Reliance to anyone!! they had been called to repair a valve in the house- and charged an outrageous fee. TAKING ADVANTAGE OF SENIOR. When Reliance was first called and asked what the fee would be, no estimate could be provided. An extreme overcharge for this job was charged to the credit card. After calling around to other places the fee was quoted 600.00 - 800.00 cheaper! Reliance was contacted again and Reliance agreed to reimburse a large amount of the fee which took 3 phone calls and over a month later to reimburse. I would not recommend this business to anyone! I paid out my water heater and authorized the withdrawal of $4000 via automatic withdrawal through my bank account. The payment did not go through and Reliance rep told me it's because the amount is over $2000. I then said ok i will pay the bill (plus the $60 late service fee) with my credit card. I requested they look into crediting me the late fee because i was not notified of the issue and my bill said it would automatically be paid. Payment went through on my credit card, then 2 weeks later, the full $4000 was also debited from my bank account! I had double paid. I called them back and they said they would credit my bank account, gave them my information and they said it would take 3-5 business days. Today is day 8 and I just got off the phone with them because I got no refund on either my mastercard or my bank account. I was told they would follow up with accounting and to wait until the end of the week to see the money. I am so not impressed with this service at all! They came last Thursday to my house to install a new furnace and air conditioner. They cut a hole outside to vent the furnace out and left it wide open so I currently have cold air going into my basement because they didn't seal it our anything. Tore boards out of my deck to install the air conditioner which they were supposed to come back on Friday and install, then it was supposed to be Monday and then today which is Tuesday and now they say they are supposed to come tomorrow! I have deck boards on my railing with screws sticking out of them all over the place. I can't even get on my deck to let my dog out! They left it a total mess! Absolutely ridiculous! And I have a huge AC unit sitting on my deck for the past 5 days. My kids can't even go out on the deck to play. I called to complain and asked to talk to the manager and the guy just kept cutting me off saying he would get the technician's supervisor to call me, still no call! I am so not impressed with this place at all, I would not recommend!!! read more

My mother call them for fix one thing the guy talk for 40 minutes about other things to fix never check what we need to fix it ..then live after get payed but the work wasn't done ...another guy from different company came and fix in 10 minutes and more cheap ....we never call this company again .....worst thing ever read more

I feel like I avoided a scam, a $10,000 one to be exact. I called for "Reliance Gregg's Home Services" to fix my furnace system as it was not heating my recently purchased townhouse. The Employee was at my home for 1.5 hours. After he was finished the issue was still not resolved. The next day a sales rep from the company was at my door explaining to me that my boiler system that heats my house needed to be replaced. Feeling uneasy about dropping close to 10k on a new boiler system, I called for a second opinion with a different company. Within a couple of minutes my problem was diagnosed and the heat was up and running. Turns out the thermostat that controls the boiler is in the utility room and it was turned off. I don't know how you can troubleshoot issues with a system without turning it on. I will not be using reliance again, nor would I recommend the company to anybody. read more

They left open live wires on my furnace....even after hours of trying to figure things out and 2 hours later. Instead they offered me a new furnace and never finished the job properly... Called someone else and they rerouted the wires to our newer electric box and it was fixed. The furnace wasn't broken at all. Big fail. read more

Gregg's installed a new high-efficiency furnace and AC unit in my mother's house a couple years ago. They were neat and efficient albeit I personally stood over them throughout the job and made sure it was done as we had specified and agreed. The price for the labour and materials was excellent and with the 18-month interest free deferred payment it was a great deal overall. For that work I would give them 5 stars. However, my mom needed service to the 10-year old humidifier that was re-installed on the new furnace. Instead of replacing the defective valve (perhaps a $50 part plus labour) the technician installed a brand new $500+ humidifier. It's a different type of unit (not continuous flow) and so may save water use. And it's new so should last for years. But I don't believe the old unit couldn't have been repaired for a fraction of the price. Also, they talked my mom into a $20 per month service contract. That's $240 per year and I know it covers very little. She has a basically-new furnace and AC and now a brand new humidifier. From experience I know that if anything major fails it likely won't be covered under their service plan anyway. We'll be cancelling that. Another gripe is that now that Gregg's is owned by Reliance and all numbers lead to the Reliance call centre in Trawna. There seems to be no way to contact their local Saskatoon office directly. This is a bad idea. Gregg's built a name for themselves in Saskatoon by providing good personal customer focussed service. Using a distant call centre takes a lot of that away. In short, they are a different company than the Gregg's you may have known. I believe they now do try to upsell to naïve home owners. Their service plans are pricey. There are other service companies to choose from. read more

I will never recommend Reliance Gregg's Home Services to anyone. We were told that the plumber would be here between 7am and 11am. I cancelled a day of work to be home for this. At 10:50am they called and said they'd be late. At 2pm we called them (it's a call center in Toronto) and they said he'd be there in a half hour. At 3:30 we called again! They said he will be here at 5PM!! At 5:30 the actual plumber called and said he will be here in one hour!! By that time we were LIVID and told him to not come. I wish I could give ZERO STARS to this company. We called a local plumbing company called Shane's plumbing. SHANE ANSWERED THE PHONE. He gave me his personal cell phone number. ever since Greggs was bought by an american company, red flags have been going off. I was told that i needed a new furnace. Not true, A new water heater. Not true. I called the toll free number and got an off shore customer service rep from the Philippines who said that they could not transfer me back to canada because the phone line were down in Toronto. I cancelled my maintenance service. Just wondering how long that will take them to do it if they have to rely on billing department which i was told is also in the Philippines. read more

I used Gregg's Plumbing and Heating for over 10 years and the customer service and technicians were great. Since the company changed ownership they are absolutely horrible. I am finding out the hard way that they are NOT locally owned and operated any more. I have a maintenance package that i pay for monthly that includes AC and furnace tune ups. The old Gregg's would give me a courtesy call every spring and fall and book me in. No courtesy calls with these new owners and when i call they say they can't book my furnace tune up until February... what good is that? I actually asked them if customer service was still included in my monthly payment because i haven't gotten any. Will be finally canceling with Gregg's and finding a new locally owed and operated business. I do not recommend Reliance Greggs and would give negative star rating if it was possible. Horrible experience. I called Gregg's Plumbing & Heating & they quoted me $1127 to hook up a water line to our fridge. ("This is a LEVEL 10 JOB" - The serviceman had a book with quotes listing levels 1-10 - he jumped instantly to 10!) Then he had the audacity to charge me their $114 assessment fee for this 'assessment'. We called & spoke with the manger, who gave us back the assessment fee the next day after apologizing for 'wasting our time' & said that they could do the job for $375 -- -- Unfortunately for them, I had already found a qualified plumber who completed the job for $120. When I told him what Gregg's had quoted me for this job, he laughed. I would never recommend this company to anyone. read more

We've been using this company for many years and were so happy with their excellent service. The only company has a live person will answer your call even the middle of night, weekends and holidays whereas everybody else are voice mail. read more

Greggs is a company I can't recommend, they never got back to me even though I left numerous messages to call. They told me they called but my message manager somehow missed their calls. When you call them, they answer with the question" how can we save you time today" but make you chase after them for answers. I finally had to drive across the city to get an invoice and answers to my questions. They immediately told me they recommend I get a new furnace. I was somewhat worried so got a second opinion and was told that was not necessary. read more

There are good and bad things to say abour Gregg's. I had a sink that kept giving me grief and so in a moment of frustration I called Gregg's. The technician that showed up was very friendly and courteous. He showed me the problem and quoted me a price to fix it. Even in the moment I felt the price was very high, but I was tired of dealing with this same problem over and over so I said yes. So he replaced the kitchen tap and I paid the price, thinking the whole time that for the amount i paid, I had better never again have a problem with my sink. I really felt like that when later in the evening I was at a Home Depot and saw how much the tap that was installed was really worth. I realized then that even though Gregg's claim they do not charge by the hour, they actually do and their labour costs are extremely high. Again in a moment of weakness I signed up for their "service plan", mostly based on how friendly the technician was. But now that I know how much Gregg's pad's their prices I intend on cancelling the plan. The old saying "fool me once shame on you - but fool me twice and it's shame on me" really applies to Gregg's only I won't let myself get fooled again. read more

When I was having trouble with my furnace I had Gregg's come out and have a look. The technician spent a total of 3 hours doing a thorough inspection on my furnace. By doing a visual inspection on the heat exchanger, he claimed to have found a crack. He also claimed to have got a reading of 1 part per million of carbon monoxide but did not show me where he got the reading. He then put a red tag on the furnace and told me I had 30 days to replace it. When I asked for a quote, he quoted me over $8000 dollars to replace it. Needless to say, I phoned around to other plumbing and heating contractors for more quotes. The average cost most places told me was about $4500 however I had the furnace replaced by J&A heating for $3100. They were a pleasure to deal with as well. Gregg's employee seemed to be pressuring and trying to use scare tactics to get me to buy from them. They also refuse to give quotes over the phone which is sketchy. I have since had the Saskenergy inspector do a visual inspection on the old heat exchanger and there are no cracks in it. read more
