Reliance is such a hot mess. they claim you get yearly maintenance with appliance rental. two months after not receiving a call or email about booking said maintenance, and a reminder on my thermostat to change filters, I called to book myself. waited weeks for appointment. day of appointment, technician called to say he'd be at my house in an hour. I waited and waited. before five I texted him and he called me back saying he wasn't coming but would be there the following Tuesday and to expect him between 1-5 pm. Again, I wait all afternoon. text him to see if he's coming, and he texts back saying he is not and to rebook with the call centre--which is horrible in its own right with awful phone quality, long waits, 45 mins recently to resolve a random bill for 600.00 sent to me when I did not have an outstanding amount at all. so now I have to call that awful place and wait how many more weeks in hopes these idiots can muster the will to bring/change filters on their own appliances that i rent. you'd think they'd want to maintain them rather than replace because of their own refusal to attend to their maintenance appointments. I feel Reliance MacKenzie staff members including their upper management enabler accessories have been good at covertly sidestepping and covering up mistakes made, left on the laps of unknowing customers, customers like ourselves or in such case even the vulnerable elderly they truly show they don't care about and even willing to put at risk by their sidestepping, duping, and defrauding tactics. Then one is left at the mercy of if anything is painfully suspected and called into question, and dare they stand up, they the customer, is then put through the ringer. They victimize the victim in a devious gaslighting manner. This in itself I find to be painfully troubling and most sickening. The devious duping they play inconspicuously oblivious to. Then left having to spin one's wheels and grovel at all costs in an endless sea of exasperation and disconcert due to loose ends left they duck out of, dodge, deflect, stonewall , and even pass blame onto the customer when left hanging. All the reaped passive pushback, runaround, or constant put offs even over the course of two years even just to get them to come back to fix faulty workmanship issues like leaks they left behind they left to fall on the laps of their own client in this case who happens to be my elderly mother someone who cannot even barely speak. This at the hands of allowable Reliance McKenzie staff who is OK with leaving vulnerable clients at risk of heat exhaustion. Was too much for them to address their own mistakes even in a timely manner, never mind try to stiff someone for the tab on some money grab​ "protection plan" after a faulty reinstalll. This tell tale, that integrity and efficiency is not one of their strong points. After having to coax them several times to fix a leak they left behind, they dove into my mom's pockets to pay for their own mistakes, they acted oblivious to, and even punished their own customer for any grievance dare voiced. They have no problem leaving the customer at the mercy of constant excuses to either dodge or placate matters coupled with all familiar complacent company time wasting excuses like "had calls go south" from technicians like Colton Messerschmidt who continued to put off an old lady, then from manager Luke I had no way of getting a hold of other than through a technician at my door who questions to know who i am or who my mother is, or who any consumer resolutions staff are I was in contact with just days before, now having to regurgitate and re-explain everything all over again till blue in the face, then no apology or even heads up wasting our time for nothing. As if our time is made to be valueless, having to call or write letters like this, then rinse and repeat all over again after feeling sidestepped, dodged, or duped when left having to pull arms having to repeatedly call or text just to get notice, and left going in circles, completely put off or sidestepped after left waiting endlessly all for nothing even before​ or after repairing the leak, NOW... left with the strange buzzing, grinding vibrating noises in the outside unit that weren't even there before AC was tampered with by Colton Messerschmidt when some kind of leak sealer resin by him was put inside the lines against our will initially instead of just re-welded cause he was more worried about time. Now in other hands foreign to us we can't even see across their own round table eye to eye, seemingly staved off by these ambiguous dynamics we are on the outside of, or these opportunistic and convenient stall tactics or some kind of endless round table discussions or debates behind our backs we arent privy by shysters​ who had no problem leaving an old lady who can't even stand up for herself they left at arms length even after prompt notification by myself her only mouthpiece and spokesperson I had to sell my own soul to even over additional issues that had been drawn to the tech Colton Messerschmidt's attention and now regional management's desk. Then left on the outside of their debate after re-explaining all over again to another hand in the pot. Absolute insanity. The exasperation of zero comittment, complacent communication, or follow thru is beyond insurmountable, when questionable potential issues are presented and was obviously too much effort for any party to be faithful or loyal in small things never mind large. Colton not even following up to backcheck any workmanship issues after he was here when contacted and notified in August 22, 23, 24 into August 28 during this year of 2023 concerning problems maybe linked to his workmanship when here in the spring. How would I know? He said he would come by saying he knew what it was when speaking on the phone with him and texting him when he asked me to text on august 23 to arrange a time but never showed up at any point afterward any days to follow. He just left me hanging saying he "had some calls go south", but no further commitment was ever made to rectify matters. read more

DON'T USE THIS COMPANY OF BELIEVE THEIR ADS. Here's a company that doesn't care two stitches if they screw you over on shoddy workmanship over unchecked leaks they leave in the line after installation incurring damage to the equipment they sell to you that they then leave you spinning your wheels to exhaustively and continuously fight tooth and nail and bend over backwards for just to get through their craniums. They get mad at you if they leave you righteously furious and indignant over their own continuous mess ups never mind hearing problems caused by an array of hands in the pot, who for one, can't understand or decipher plain english, that then gets repeatedly lost in translation or misconstrued by the horrendously poor communication amongst staff members. This outside technicians or sales agents who leave receipts of sales transactions incompleted without even dates or other pertinant details not broken down for reference if needed for warranty. Then if problems crop up over anything left unattended to, you are forced to call their call center or consumer relations staff who leave you stuck in some scrum or scrimmage even having to spell things out for them just to get the problem fixed, who then, in turn, if called out, will behind your back, up and shred their own customer they then terminate, even old and infirm lady's who can't speak well not even privy to anything that has happened. They constantly project and deflect their own insecurities back onto their own customer, even ones who can't speak and even onto their only advocates. read more

I used Reliance MacKenzie 2 times and had great service! 3rd time not so much. Details of the most recent experience are as follows: -Had a Garage heater installed on Friday, April 30, 2021 -Electrical done on the following Monday, May 3, 2021 -Someone had signed off on the work order, having crossed out the customer's signature box and the full amount was charged to my credit card on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 -6 days later, on May 11, 2021 the gas line was put in by 4 different people working at different times throughout the day -6 days later, on May 17, 2021 the gas inspector found a leak in the gas pipe union. It had not been tightened! - When I received the original quote for the heating unit, April 22, 2021, I had asked for a filter for the back of the heater. The filter was not installed with the heater. -I spoke to sales representatives on both May 18 & 31, 2021 and again asked about having the filter and a different thermostat (one that could be set to a lower temperature). I was told that the rep would talk to people and get back to me right away. To date I have not received any word from him on these items. -On June 3, 2021 I spoke to customer resolutions, and a service manager called me back. I was told they don't have a thermostat like that and are too busy to make the filter housing right now. -I bought and installed a new thermostat myself and had a filter box with filter made. -3rd Time Unlucky. I feel this company is very unorganized, made promises they did not keep and the quality of work is going down hill. Also the review opportunity from Reliance MacKenzie timed out on me before I had a chance to fill it out and I am unable to write a review on their site. Called to get service. The customer service agent berated me repeatedly to buy the added protection plan. I declined four times then she hung up on me. Called back to confirm my service call was not booked. I was then given a 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. window for service. By noon, they didn't show up and I called another provider. It's cold and this company isn't event trying to serve customers. I encourage you to contact literally anyone else. read more

Our Rinnai On-Demand (Tankless) gas water heater wasn't working this morning. Mackenzie installed it in 2008. They were the best. Today I called 'Reliance MacKenzie', and spoke with a friendly representative. I gave her my information - twice, and she could not find me in the customer database. She thought I was located in the GTA. I was told a non-regular-member service could be scheduled for 2nd March. Two and a half weeks is not a "quick appointment" - as is advertised, and a bit too long to go without a shower, thank you. Unfortunately, then she tried to sell me a furnace assurance package. She was polite and enthusiastic, and I will never, ever, call again. The phone book, the website, and Canada411 all have different numbers listed for the company. I suspect they all lead to a call centre in Toronto. It is sad that Mr Mackenzie sold out to Reliance, a Chinese-Canadian Holding controlled out of Hong-Kong. Please hire a local for your repairs. I wish I had read the reviews before dealing with Reliance MacKenzie. Numerous people came at different tImes. Many were not actual plumbers and basically knew how to use a plunger. Communication was poor and they came out a few times thinking they were doing a different job. Don't bother with a Plumbing Protection Plan. read more

I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone! We got talking to a sales rep at a Regina Home and Garden show with whom we called backed and made an appointment for him to come over and discuss our options. We booked a date for installation and the day came and they did not show up! This not only happened once but TWICE! In return we were offered free Duct Cleaning services which they never showed up for once again and when we called to ask why we were told the machine was broken. Also, we were told there would be no payments for 6 months with the promo they had at the time..another lie. We have been receiving bills every month! When we communicated this to them we were told it was just a "system error". We have been told this for 3 months now and nothing has been dealt with. We also have messages from the company agreeing how horrible their service has been in every single way possible and the total lack of communication! We are VERY disappointed to say the least. read more

I called these guys in December 2019 to come and check out my furnace. They came and looked at it and told me that I should call a plumber, which I did. I called a different company and they came in and fixed it. After two weeks I was getting repeated calls from Reliance wondering where to send the bill and how they could collect their fee. Lol! I would recommend that you call a real plumber in the first place and not these shysters. read more

After getting screwed around for a week, permitted 2 not 1 of their employees to stroll through my house and the salesman promised heat in house this week. Subsequently, a second individual showed up to do measurements, and he assured me heat in house this week. Here it is Friday, no heat, heck they haven't even ordered replacement. Do not expect speak to someone on the phone in local branch as all calls go to Ontario even the ones with area code 306. So here I am attempting to keep house from freezing up (hot water heat) and no repairs going to happen. As I can see in other reviews of same business this is not the exception but a clear continuation of the same complaints. The good news is they never got any money from me they could not hide their incompetence long enough. I am not one to tell people what to do, but dealing with Reliance McKenzie is just a bad idea, that is unless you do not wish to have the ability to contact the people doing your work and taking your money. I feel bad for their employees as my bet is this has happened before, and sitting at home because of a lack of work, is a part of their employment wether they like it or not The caption above says EEK Methinks not, good advise. read more

I would NEVER EVER recommend this company to anyone as I had them come into my home in April 2015 to replace a single sink and taps and the serviceman cut into a line and flooded my cupboards and new laminate flooring. I asked if he was going to call his manager and he said not yet, so I immediately got on the phone to my insurance and was told that they are responsible for the damage and he recommended a water restoration company that is well known and does quality work. The serviceman was in shock and could not finish the job and told me he had to go to his next service call and someone else would come out to finish the job??? What about me???. Hours later I get a call and am asked where am I as he is at my place and their was no answer at the door, turns out I dont know why he was at my previous home which I had not been at for over 8 years plus they had my address as thats where the work was being done. Well this new serviceman and the previous one both agreed it was there fault and my damage would be fixed, this was on a Friday and I presumed the manager would call and send someone out to help lift my laminate as water went under flooring and under cabinets. Never heard from the manager for days until I called a few times, twice the phone just rang and rang, when I finally talked to him days later he said he would come out. When he came all he did was open the cupboard under the sink and said it doesn't look like theres any damage to me and the flooring( which had been recently put in by Fiorante Flooring who now were out of business) I could go online and see if I could order a few boards to replace the ones that were lifting. I told him that they are in dye lots so that would not do as I have the same flooring all throughout my condo plus what about the moisture under the flooring. He was rude and to me and treated my like I was some dumb old lady. I could hardly wait for him to leave my house. I had the water restoration come out and do up an estimate and they did two moisture test measure about 6-7 months apart to measure moisture under the flooring and cabinets and both times it was still registering moisture. Well they never helped me but offered me two options, I could either go through my own insurance or they would decide what the damage was worth. I told him I was not happy with that as I had a professional water specialist in and was told mold could grow if the moisture was not addressed. I tried everything Better Business Bureau of which they do not belong but they sent a response letter lying about what their serviceman did to cause the damage. I would like to say shame on you MacKenzie Plumbing & Heating for your terrible service and for destroying my home. I am a senior living alone and have no where to turn for help and even if I did have the cabinets removed could not afford to address any mold issued if found. I am afraid to have any service person in my house as if they do damage and do nothing to resolve issue and leave the customer stranded is abuse to me. read more
