We stayed in a newly renovated Signature King room on the 5th floor of this very pleasant hotel. I was nervous because there are some bipolar reviews of this place, but we had a very good experience. Yes, it's expensive (we stayed there in August), but the location is superb if you want to visit museums, walk to the subway, bike around Hyde Park, and wander around the city. It's not perfect, and I could nit pick little things, but I think the most important thing is to tell the staff if something's not to your liking - they were most helpful and friendly. Our bathroom was spacious and the room had A/C. We didn't have much of a view, but we really only slept there - too much to do! There seems to be confusion about the attached spa, pool, and fitness center. Let me help clear this up: this is not the kind of place for you to bring your kids to swim in the pool. There are limited hours, and most of them are either for adults or swimming lessons. Pretty much the only time kids are welcome is on the weekends. And if you're planning on doing lots of sightseeing, you probably won't have time to lounge in the pool anyway. The breakfast was more than adequate - fresh food and many selections every morning. Service in the bar could be on the slow side in the evenings, but the food was quite good. It doesn't feel quite luxurious or 5 star, but I'd say it's very nice, and we'd stay there again! read more

I sent my mother to The Rembrandt for a few days whilst her home was being renovated. I booked five days and paid in advance and placed my card on the room for incidentals. During her third evening, an invoice was slipped under her door at 8pm demanding immediate payment. Confused, my mother called reception and was told, "Well, given how polite you are and all of the niceties that you have shown our staff, we just have to make sure you can actually pay." Needless to say, this only further confused my mother. After hearing this from my mother, I called reception myself to settle the bill, despite there being two additional days left of her stay. I was told that it is The Rembrandt's policy to process payment when the incidentals reach £150. I said that is fine, considering the sum is not even 10% of what I paid for her stay. I asked what is the point of having a card on the room if staff was going to harass clients for payment in the middle of the evening? I then asked where I could find this policy on their website or Terms and Conditions. Reception was vague and did not provide a link. Moreover, my mother was not made aware of such a rule during check-in. My mother is a kind and quiet person. This incident has deeply embarrassed her. I am so incensed that I will never give this hotel our patronage again. Moreover, The Rembrandt Hotel is a little dated and its rooms are small. At best, it is a 3-star hotel. read more

we stayed here 2 nights on a short trip to london. the hotel staff was extremely kind and helpful when we had questions. we walked all around london while we were here and felt this location was an excellent spot to stay. it felt like one of the safest locations to stay, if not the safest. we never once felt unsafe or uneasy here. it is in a nicer part of london that's within walking distance of many major attractions, train stations, and bus stops. i would definitely recommend this hotel, and even stay again on possible future visits! read more

I cannot believe this hotel has so many good reviews and touts itself as a luxury hotel. It is a 3 star at best and personally I would give it 2.5. Our hopes from the photos and reviews were to stay for 5 nights, but after walking down an endlessly long narrow hallway with many twists and turns, a low ceiling and a crooked floor board, covered with a dark dirty carpet, we finally arrived at our room which was so dreary I immediately told my husband we cannot possibly stay there (the rate was 460+ pounds and I was literally having a panic attack after the claustrophobic dizzying march to our dingy room. We arrived at 1 pm and the cancellation time is noon. We went to the front desk and politely told the manager we would not be able to stay, but would be happy to pay one night penalty. This manager actually had the gaul to tell us that because it was 1 hour after cancellation we would be responsible for two nights. This was absurd and the worst customer service imaginable. She insisted that we remain as hostages of The Rembrandt hotel (poor guy he is turning in his grave) or we would loose 1200 pounds. We were stuck. We asked if she could find us a room that did not require long corridor journeys and had some sort of light and to her credit she did. The second room was better but a fair price for it in London at this time (which is high season) would be tops 250 pounds. The pros for this hotel are the staff is very friendly and the location is fine. But the management is poor and the prices for the value are way out of line. Beware! Do NOT stay here unless you do not care about your room and they give you an excellent price. read more

I stayed here 5 nights on a deal through British Airways. It was a great value for the price we paid and location of the hotel. The Rembrandt was solid. Everything was clean and tidy, though the aesthetic is a little dated, especially the couches in the lobby. The hotel bar is comfy but also a little dated. The snacks that come with pre-dinner drinks were a nice touch, though, and they make a good Pimm's Cup. The breakfast each morning was definitely comprehensive, though sometimes the bread was hard or some of the meats were a little greasy. Still, you could definitely find something to eat each morning. You have to pay to use the gym next store, the equivalent of about $10 per person per day. Too bad that price can't be brought down a little. I would stay here again, especially given its proximity to the Tube and the neighborhood surrounding it. read more

We stayed at this hotel spring 2017. We chose this hotel for their larger rooms because we were traveling with our two kids and the hotel did not disappoint. We had a room with a king size bed plus a fold out couch. This was so wonderful for our family of four. Plus the bathroom was a very nice size. We were very comfortable. Yes, the hotel isn't fancy or outdated, but it is clean and the service is great (except in the bar). I would say in many ways they go above and beyond in terms of service, got us a very reasonable ride to airport and I had a package shipped and they were great about receiving it and communicating about it. It is in a very convenient location by the natural history museum, close to the tube and restaurants, and close to bus lines and easy to catch a taxi outside. I booked via Expedia and got some great benefits by doing that. I would definitely comeback and I'm the type who usually stays in a name brand hotel. read more

For some reason, I was not expecting much when we booked this hotel but I was pleasantly surprised. The location is amazing, the hotel is clean, price was good for the area AND they included breakfast! My stay there was pretty short otherwise I would have tried their spa too as the price looked really good. It saddens me to leave this rating. We have stayed at the Rembrandt each year for the past five years. Based upon declining service we will not likely return. It seems the cost increases while the quality and service decreases. Our most recent stay this month was disappointing. The bed in our room was placed in an area that only allowed seven inches of space to get to the head of the bed while navigating a frame picture on the wall approx 2-3 foot inches deep. When we asked about this, we received a stare and a statement that they did would pass our feedback it along, but to offer to correct the issue. We ended up crawling in and out from the foot of the bed. In addition, when we arrived early in the am after a long flight from the US we were told that if our room was ready, we would not be allowed to access it without paying a £50 fee before check in time. Okay fair enough, but seriously? Our rate did include a nice breakfast, but if we wanted a coffee or tea upon arrival, that too would be an additional fee. It seems occupying a room that was already ready or having a cup of tea would be small inexpensive gestures that would go a long way with your guests. read more

We had an enjoyable stay over the royal wedding weekend. The hotel is well-located, particularly for tourists. It's right across the street from the Victoria & Albert, and less than 5 minutes walk from Harrods. The South Kensington tube stop is also very close by. In addition to the shopping, there are some nice restaurants close by - neighborhood and fancier. Our double room was comfortable and well-furnished. The staff was friendly and accommodating, easily handling our early arrival. Breakfast is the standard fare at English hotels. The food was fine, if nothing special. I stayed here for four nights with my friend on a girls' weekend in London, and we had a good experience. Our room was stylish and comfortable, the front desk and concierge staff were very friendly, and the location was perfect. Plus we received a free smartphone that allowed us unlimited data and free local and international calls during our stay. Immediately upon arrival, we could sense that the hotel was upscale and well-maintained. It has a charming façade and a clean, tasteful lobby. Our check-in was facilitated by Anamaria, who was friendly and professional. She even got us into our room by 10:30am, which was a relief after a long flight all the way from the West Coast of the US. We were given an executive twin room, which was a good size, especially for a historical building in London. It was surely enough space for two. The beds initially came pushed together, but we were able to easy split them apart for personal comfort. The mattresses and pillows were comfortable - neither too soft nor too hard. The only annoying part was that each day the housekeeping service would push the beds back together and make the beds up as if they were one. The bathroom was absolutely fantastic - one of the best showers either of us have ever used. The glass and tile were sparkling clean, and there was a rainshower as well as a handheld showerhead. The water pressure was intense, and it was perfect for relaxing. We had a view of the quiet street and neighborhood behind the hotel, which meant we didn't get very much street noise. In fact, the hotel was quite quiet overall. The air conditioner had a function to leave the fan running, and that provided just the amount of white noise necessary for a comfortable sleep. There were additional charges for the room upgrade and the early check-in. While that is carefully spelled out, from our experience most hotels will waive one or the other at check-in. There was also a 10-pound nightly charge for having more than 1 guest, which they explained was for the breakfast. This was unfortunate because neither of us ate the breakfast, and there was no option to not include the breakfast. Usually room rates are advertised based on double occupancy, so it was quite a surprise, but not a dealbreaker because the hotel was quite nice and the location was perfect. I also found the bartender to be a bit rude, as when I sat at the bar he would not offer me a menu but rather told me to go get one off another table. I ended up leaving, so I can't comment further on the service or quality of the bar. All in all, it was a good experience, and we would surely stay here again! read more

My good friend who travels to London several times a year highly recommended the Rembrandt. I booked on the Sarova website, and a week later my friend forwarded me an offer for a winter sale price reduction of 25%. I had prepaid for the room, so I didn't expect monetary compensation, but when I called the hotel to ask if any accommodation could be made, the rep in reservations just kept repeating "No change can be made to an existing reservation". That wasn't my point at all...but I was only met with stony silence. That left me feeling misunderstood. We arrived from America at around 10 am on arrival day. We understood our room might not be ready and did not expect to check in at that time. However, the desk person said "Your room is ready, but if you want to check in now there will be a fee of £50." That's outrageous, the room is either ready or it isn't. It was a quiet morning, the lobby was empty save for three employees with their hands folded in front of them. This is not hospitality. After a night on an airplane, it felt like I was being taunted. The heat didn't work in our room, and it was cold in late November. The front desk sent a standing electrical radiator, but it was cumbersome and took up a third of the available floor space in the room. The next morning at 8 the desk called the room and asked if the electrician could come to fix the wiring...now. We got dressed quickly. The repair took an hour because the repairman needed to get a part. Apparently another room in the same line as our room also had the same problem that day. The location of the Rembrandt is very convenient to three major subway lines. The staff were very helpful. I am grateful to the concierge for taking care of a gnarly problem promptly and efficiently. First time in London, this hotel was truly convenient to all of the local tourist spots thanks to its close by underground station! Our rooms even included a GUEST smart phone that was connected to the internet wherever we went! This saved our lives because we didn't have signal or roaming on our own phones! Facility is clean, service is friendly and the breakfast is delicious and filled with special order items such as poached eggs! I especially liked this part of London because it felt safe to walk around at night and there is a cute little cafe filled courtyard just around the corner if you get hungry. Great hotel. read more

We had a family reunion planned to travel from the US to London and had to cancel because we came down with covid. We contacted the Rembrandt by email and phone a couple of weeks before our arrival and they would not refund our money which was over $1200. We had booked through Booking.com who cancelled our three other destinations and refunded our money, but they said we had to get the Rembrandts permission to obtain a refund because we had chosen a pay ahead option which was the lowest price and did not realize that it did say no refunds. All other properties cancelled and repaid our funds due to illness. Jose Vasquez of Sarova Hotels was of no help. I give this hotel 1 star. I booked the hotel and than cancelled within 24 hours due to fluid restrictions on US travel to the UK. Unfortunately, I was not able to get into the UK so was forced to cancel and the hotel manager (Jose) had zero compassion to my situation and took the full payment for the two night stay. It wasn't a last minute cancellation either as I made the request 2 weeks prior to my visit. Terrible customer service and will make sure no one I know stays at this place. We really enjoyed our room and our experience at the Sheraton in South Kensington. We were walking distance from everything including the tube. One of the luxury experiences that made our stay even more amazing was that our room phone was a Googlephone that we could take with us throughout the city without having to buy an international phone plan. Was able to download necessary apps and phone numbers as well as safely deleting all my accounts that I registered on it. Really came in handy during our visit. One other thing, our concierge, Neil was the exclamation point of our stay. He has such great character about him. He offers everyone a memorable experience. Be sure to meet with Neil and get some recommendations. It will well be worth the effort! read more

Its not a terribly interesting hotel, and nothing about it is breathtaking, but it has a nice comfortable space to pop in for a tea, coffee or glass of something cold. There are two reasons why this hotel for me, will not make it to four or five stardom: 1) They only have bottled Guinness, which is sold at the same price as a pint. Boo hiss! 2) The ladies are about half a mile away. Downstairs, up the hall round the corner... No I am not accustom to running a gauntlet before making it to the restroom. I haven't stayed here so I couldn't tell you about the rooms, rates or anything like that, but for a meeting it's fair. The afternoon tea being served to the table next to mine did looked scrummy, and other foods I saw and smelt, on around the bar lounge area also seemed favorable. Ps. It has great comfortable armchairs and sofa and there is a nice conservatory area to the right which can be quite cosy and romantic. This is an outstanding hotel, located directly across the street from the Victoria and Albert Museum as well as the beautiful Brampton Oratory (check out the Pieta statue dedicated to WWI killed in action ... inside the church on the right side). Also the hotel is about four blocks from Harrod's. Elements of the hotel we enjoyed: 1. The Room: it appears that all rooms have been recently renovated. Ours was well-appointed and had an excellent shower, HVAC system, refrigerator, coffee pot, snacks, etc. The bed was comfortably soft. 2. The Housekeeping Staff: always friendly and always hard-working. 3. The Breakfast: do the full English or just use the buffet. The buffet included made-to-order omelets. 4. The Front Desk: both check-in and check-out were quick and easy. The staff there was invariably polite. 5. The Porters/Bellmen: whether it was locating a taxi, loading bags, or other such tasks these gentlemen were 'up' to it. Again, overall, this was a wonderful experience. read more

The added convenience of the "handy phone "was wonderful it allowed us to make calls around London and provided handy services available to us in the London area. The bed's were very comfortable but the pillows were hard. We loved the walk-in shower and the selection of toiletries was wonderful. The concierge service was particularly helpful they gave us instructions on how to get around. The location is great. It is almost directly across the street from the Victoria and Albert museum, near a 24 hour bus stop, near a "tube" station and a short walk to Harrod's. even though it is close to Harris's you'll probably enjoy Harvey Nichols too. read more

Loved the location of this hotel as it is right across the street from Hyde Park. I was able to take a cab quickly to any point in central London within 15 mins or less. Really close to Harrod's! Although I didnt use the tube (subway) much it is close to the Knightsbridge station. This hotel embodies old English glamour. Stayed in the spacious Grand room. Props for having a Nespresso machine in my room. They also provided free wifi hotel wide which is very nice. Hotel Staff was very professional and helpful. I would give 0 stars if I could. I contacted the hotel after the incident in Manchester, and as a result of the security level in the UK being raised to Critical. I do not feel safe traveling in 2.5 weeks to London, and the manager wrote me this lovely email reply: We received a message from our Duty Manager that you wished to cancel your booking from June 12th for four nights due to the terror threat. Your reservation was made through Expedia on an advance purchase rate. These bookings are non-refundable and non-amendable and with these terms and conditions the hotel is unable to authorise any refund. With the terrible events in Manchester earlier this week we understand your anxiety. The United Kingdom has been on high alert for a few years now and the terror threat has not changed from before and everything is currently continuing as normal. If you did wish to cancel the reservation at present the hotel would not be authorising any refund. If the circumstances change and there are unfortunate further developments the hotel would reassess the situation at that time. As a gesture of goodwill in view of the events we can offer credit on the booking for a three month period though there would be an administration charge of £100 to move the booking as the credit would move into our busiest months which are August and September. We stayed at the Rembrandt 10 years ago and had fond memories of it, so Alan booked us a 4 night stay when we were in London prior to our cruise. This time our impressions were more mixed. We arrived about 3PM after our flight from SFO. The main entrance was closed due to work being done on it and we had to walk up a steep ramp. Our baggage was carried in for us. Alan stood at the desk for a couple of minutes before being acknowledged by any of the people working there. Eventually someone acknowledged him and checked him in. A very nice man (Celio?) took our bags up and oriented us to the room, which was comfortably laid out and clean. I remember our previous room here as being larger and the bed a king rather than a queen, but the bed size was immaterial. It was very comfortable. The bathroom had marble tile floors that were heated a little bit when the lights were on and the bathtub was a good size w/ handles to help getting in and out safely. It took a while to figure out how the faucets and bathtub drain worked, but that was what Alan calls a wetware problem (me) and it didn't take to that long to sort it out. Breakfast is included in the room price. I have pleasant memories of it from the past, but like the hotel itself, breakfast this time was more mixed. Scrambled eggs on a breakfast buffet are always a dicey proposition, but these were among the worst I've tried. One bite and done. The sausage embodied the worst of British breakfast sausages in both texture and taste. There were pale potato-like things I didn't try and beans I didn't try either. But the fresh fruit was terrific. Surprisingly sweet watermelon and crenshaw melon, adequate orange slices and excellent green apples. There was an assortment of decent if unadventurous packaged cheeses. They also had a selection of canned apricot and other canned fruits. There were pastries and cereals and juices and other offerings. We had two breakfasts there, having overslept breakfast hours two of the mornings. The second breakfast I chose more carefully, avoiding the cooked foods in favor or the fruit, cheeses and yogurt. Most annoyingly, Saturday the maid cleaning the room tossed out my contact lens case. I can't understand how or why she did that. I discovered it when I went to take my lenses out. I called the front desk and reported it, to an audible gasp at the other end. Soon a woman named Karen knocked on our door w/ two small ramekins to store my lenses overnight, which worked just fine. We talked about going to Boots the next day to pick up a new case and she said she would reimburse us. The next morning we went downstairs and the concierge called Boots and reached a recording saying they were closed. He found another drugstore, Harvey's, I think, and I confirmed that they had cases. Harvey's was a bit of a trek, so we took a taxi over and back. The case was £2 and the taxi £11 total. We returned to the hotel and Alan, who had kept receipts for both, asked to be reimbursed. The staff called Karen, who reimbursed us for the case, but explained she was not authorized to reimburse for taxis. That was OK. What was not OK was that she chided us for not having pushed to have someone on staff go over to pick up the case, which we hadn't known was an option. A final irritation was that when our driver came yesterday morning to take us to Southampton to meet the ship, he was there about 15 minutes early w/o the front desk staff telling us. There was no effort to connect us w/ him and it was only by good fortune that we did connect when we came down to the lobby w/ the bellman and our luggage. Happily the driver was patient and persistent in coming in to the lobby repeatedly and didn't just leave. In all, if was not attentive or accommodating service and we would not stay here again, despite the excellent location and the comfortable room. For the London tourist, The Rembrandt's location is hard to beat. Just down the street are the museums, the Royal Albert Hall, Harrods, Knightsbridge and also in walking distance, Hyde Park and Chelsea. Just a few blocks away is the South Kensington Tube station, perhaps the most strategic tube stop in London for tourists. The Piccadilly Line west takes you to Heathrow. Take it eastbound just a few stops to the central tourist areas: Hyde Park Corner (Buckingham Palace), Piccadilly Circus (Regent Street), Leicester Square (West End theatres and half price ticket window), and Covent Garden (opera house and market), The District Line takes you out to Wimbledon or up to Bayswater (good ethnic restaurants) and Paddington Station (train to Heathrow). The Circle Line, also from South Kensington goes to Victoria Station, Westminster (cathedral and Parliament), Charing Cross (Trafalgar Square and the National Galleries), London Bridge and the Tower of London. Almost any other London attraction can be reached with a single connection. That said, my stay was for business and not for touring. Location benefits aside, I would consider the Rembrandt to be a very weak example of a 4-star establishment. The rooms are adequately sized for a London hotel. But the decor feels rather dated. The flat screen TV is a tad small. The guest rooms are situated such that the bedroom is adjacent to the hallway, making it rather noisy. With the aid of drugs, the noise did not bother me but I do know that it would have kept my lighter sleeping wife up a good part of the night had she been with me. The wireless internet service is free, fast with has a good strong signal. But it has the annoying habit of logging you off at random moments while you are in the middle of your work, forcing you to go through the log in process again and again. The gym, more important perhaps to business travelers, is not actually part of the hotel. You will have to go next door and buy a day pass at a private facility. I'm can't be sure how typical this is, but I had bad experiences trying to find an available taxi i in front of the hotel in the AM rush hour. The breakfast buffet, highly acclaimed in other reviews, I found disappointing. Judged by US hotel standards, it is clearly superior. But by UK and European standards, it was wanting. With the exception of a selection of apples and melon slices, all the fruits offered were canned. The fried egg tray always seemed empty. The selection of cold cuts was limited and unappealing in appearance (also no smoked salmon, an immediate indication to me of less-than-4 star quality). And the selection of breads included no whole grain or multi-grain choices. In summary I might suggest this hotel to someone coming to London for the sights. I might steer a business traveler elsewhere read more

The Rembrandt is a cosy hotel wih a perfect location ! Cross the road and you're at the V&A museum, 2 steps further and you can stroll in Hyde Park. The staff is really helpful and their english breakfast is awesome ( buffet)! read more
