My husband and I stayed here for 8 days during our second trip to London, which was also a bit of a belated honeymoon, and I truly cannot praise this hotel enough. From the staff and location to the atmosphere and overall experience, everything was wonderful. Our room had the most stunning view of St Pancras. It was genuinely magical, especially at night. The room itself was perfectly sized and had such a cool aesthetic--very '60s mod meets the new millennium. The location was also the best we've experienced in London. We stayed at two other hotels during our previous trip, and having St Pancras/King's Cross station literally steps away made getting around the city incredibly easy and manageable. The hotel is slightly removed from the busiest tourist areas, which we loved, but the neighborhood still had plenty of energy and gave us that ideal London atmosphere. And then there is the lovely staff. Not a single day went by when we didn't feel completely welcomed. We were always greeted with genuine smiles, and everyone was incredibly accommodating with any needs or preferences we had. I especially loved getting to know Jack at the front desk. He was absolutely fabulous in every sense of the word--a true treasure and such a memorable part of our stay. He knew the area incredibly well, and when I mentioned that my local friends and I were going to a West End show, he had so much insight to share. Chatting with him was genuinely one of the highlights of our stay This hotel became such a special part of our London trip. We were already talking about returning before we had even left, and I truly hope this was only the first of many stays. read more

When I booked The Standard, I was not aware that the default appeared to be a "no change, no cancellation" policy. Apparently once they have your money, they aren't giving it up. Anyway, my flight was set to get in one day later than planned, so I approached them to reduce my stay by one day. They were uncooperative to say the least. Didn't answer the phone; when they did, they left me on hold for extended times and generally did everything they could to be uncooperative. When I took my concern to Hotels.com, they got the same treatment, trying several times to get The Standard to engage and end up with a satisfied customer. As I get to the UK once or twice a year, and in fact, I was returning back to London in a few days, they could have doubled their sale on me. Instead, I returned to my longtime favorite, the Crown Plaza, and am making this post to warn other travelers. If you need to communicate with these folks once you have booked, good luck. That's why my next and future trips to London I will be staying elsewhere. read more

Mark at the front desk was great, but the maid service was terrible. They went through my cousin's luggage and laid out clothes on the bed? Insane. Also the service at the library bar was AWFUL. Had to ask multiple people for service and the check, including the manager who was dressed like she was playing in a lesbian golf tournament. Not to mention the area is sketchy as hell. Highly recommend staying here in London. Located directly at Kings Cross/St. Pancreas station you're in luck to walk the city from this central location or hop on the tube to go anywhere in town. It is part of the Amex hotel collection so you'll receive the usual perks. Breakfast was a nice curated buffet spread or made to order. I enjoyed the eggs, matcha latte, and pastries. Gym had free weights and cardio machines. The hotel is also a vibe in of itself. Popular rooftop bar, moody vibey library lounge, and beautiful garden patio I saw a post wedding reception at during the day. Small but clean rooms. Can't say enough about the staff. They remember you and go out of their way to make your stay memorable. read more

MANY PLUSES, MANY MINUSES THE GOOD + Location: directly across from St Pancras / Eurostar International Terminal + Boutique: an edgier vibe than standard hotel fare + Rooms: nicely decorated (think 70s wood panelling smartened up with bold red and blue colour palette) + The Staff: mostly a friendly bunch etc The Bad + The Staff: service ranges from chaotic, painfully slow and indifferent to halfway decent and good As someone with a background in design and operational the problem (and fix) is easy. There are 3 main issues..... One, staff training (or lack thereof)......Two, staffing numbers and deployment. (It makes no sense whatsoever having 3 staff in a U shaped room huddled in one section having a yap about their weekend when patrons are clearly finished and either attempting to signal for addition money (which brings in REVENUE) or request the check (which, if you fail to serve the customer kills revenue) + Design: the lobby can get drafty without doors to the dining room and open plan design + The Elevators: slow and/or keep breaking down. Went to the Library Lounge to work. The ordering was confusing: no one explained how ordering worked, had to go up to the hostess stand, then she said someone would come take my order at the table. Waited for 15 minutes before someone came and took my drink order. Ordered tea and it was brought out without milk or sugar. I then asked for lunch menu, recieved it, and my lunch order was never taken. read more

A favorite place for business trips near King Cross, a perfect bed with the BEST blackout curtains to help get over the jet lag quickly. The rooms with a view of St. Pancras are the best and the bathtub is a great way to relax after a long day of working or sight seeing. The one time I got room service on my last trip was a highlight. The salad with halloumi was fresh and tasty and the sticky toffee pudding was fabulous and some of the best that I've had in the city, what a surprise. The location is hard to beat with easy train access at King's Cross to almost anywhere in the city. Plenty of other food options nearby, Pizza Pilgrams is another favorite of mine. read more

Almost Excellent ! We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay at the Standard in Kings Cross. Our room (King of Kings) was attractive, spacious and comfortable. The bed linens were top quality and the amenities (coffee, tea, mini-bar etc) were on point. All of the staff we came in contact with were friendly and helpful, especially George at the front desk and the super friendly porter (I can't remember his name but he was Bulgarian). The staff at breakfast were also very nice. The hotel is hip and cool but the staff were warm and down to earth Just 2 cons; 1: the bathroom towels were not nice, they were hard and scratchy, and they were too small. 2: maid service, our room was cleaned perfectly after the first night, next day they came at 5pm which wasn't convenient so no cleaning and on the 3rd day they only did a "sort of cleaning". The bed was kind of made but it was not properly done (bottom sheets were still wrinkled and pulled out from under the mattress and the toilet wasn't cleaned at all. These cons were not enough to distract from our overall enjoyment. All in all we would recommend The Standard London. read more

Absolutely incredible stay at the Standard. The location to King's Cross was perfect as we were taking the train to Cambridge one day and leaving for France on the train on our final day. The rooms are really cozy and quiet. We got room service on our last night and it was so good. They have a great gym as well with Pelatons. read more

Highly recommend this hotel near St Pancras train station. Took the metro/Tube everywhere and only took Uber once the entire time. Centrally located, spacious and clean rooms, excellent customer service from front desk to security, bar service to valet. Everyone seems happy to help you. Breakfast was delicious especially the avocado toast and the fried potatoes. Booked through my Amex card and since it's The Hotel Collection, you get an upgraded room (if available), early and late checkout, free breakfast daily and $100 credit towards food and drink. From the moody lighting, to the well appointed common areas and restaurants, comfortable beds and amenities, nonstop room service with tastyAF food, and just staff that makes you WANT to stay forever, this place has it going on. Honestly, late night food can be hard to come by in London, so I was tantalized by the fact I could order room service into the wee hours of the evening. Seriously, that Mac & Cheese was a godsend! Breakfast in bed like a champion, done. It was such a perfect stay for a weekend in London and I would 100% book again! Great location to the Underground and getting around London. *Review just of the bar on the ground floor* Must try: nothing of note TLDR: Disorganized service and uninspired cocktails underneath cute library themed decor. To me this seemed like a missed opportunity - the lounge and the rest of the hotel is so uniquely decorated as a late 1900's library, but the cocktails are all standard ones you could find in any bar in London or elsewhere. We had to figure out how to seat ourselves after standing at the door for a few minutes and then asked the bartender where we could sit and she didn't seem to know or care where the servers were rotating people. The specialty cocktails were not very tasty and I ended up just ordering a rum & coke as my second. read more

I'm always a fan of The Standard Hotels, this is my favorite boutique brand hotel. Anytime I'm on the area of one of these Hotels I make sure I stay. And every time I always say it's my favorite one. This one followed suit and exceeded my expectations, they gave me a complimentary upgrade and I was blown away. The staff that included some Les Clefs d'Ors were friendly, helpful and personable. The hotel ambiance was bar none with vibrant decor as only a standard hotel does. The price isn't cheap but they do their best to make sure you feel like your spending your money on something worth it. The location is in a good central location that's close to the train station to get to any airport and a 20 min drive to anything in every direction. Another place if you have a few dollars and want to get a good boutique experience try this hotel out. read more

I've stayed at this location a few times now and it's quite excellent. The convenience of being near a travel hub, the design, amenities, and rooms are all top notch. I've stayed in everything from the cosey core (basic room, no windows) to the room with the tub on a patio. While there is certainly a difference of poshness between the two, the cosey core was still pretty nice and suitable if you're planning to be out and about all day. On the other hand, having a view to St Pancras while you soak in a hot tub is pretty nice. I also really enjoy the room amenities: nice robes, bodum kettles and small pour over coffee carafes, and even borrowable stutterheim raincoats (the latter in the nicer rooms I think.) And if you're looking for food or entertainment options on-site, they have restaurants and bars (that can get quite popular so plan ahead with reservations and the like.) And finally, the hotel just looks really cool. The lobby, elevators, rooms, etc are all very stylish and easy on the eyes. What's not to love! read more

Amazing hotels, the best one we've stayed so far in the UK. The staff is polite and friendly and always ready to be at service. We stayed here two times during a span of 2 weeks and we got queen room sizes both times. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the decor was fun and whimsical and the restaurants were always open late and had good food. The location was perfect, close to King Cross and St. Pancras station and also close to Coal Drop Yards, a destination with lots of shopping and dining. We never got bored at this location and it was always so lively with people. The plaza in front of the station had occasional markets so it was easy to head over, grab food and come back to enjoy it at the hotel. Wonderful stay, would come here again. read more

Travel often and have stayed at many hotels from small boutiques to the Peninsula. I can't say enough about how charming the Standard London is. Admittedly we splurged for a suite spot room and it did not disappoint. Who doesn't love a bar in your room?! (And fully stocked well.) The views were spectacular. The staff was very attentive. They nabbed us a last minute reservation at a restaurant that doesn't normally take them! The hotel still feels very new - has been maintained quite well. We will definitely return on our next trip to London. read more

I have stayed in Standard Hotels in NYC, eastside and Meatpacking. Was excited to stay at the Standard London. Was a "VIP" via Expedia and liked the room. I came back from a wedding on Friday night and was looking forward to hanging out at the hotel. The roof was closed for rain (unavoidable) but was told that there was nowhere to get a drink and that I should get room service. Meanwhile, there is an active club in the hotel that I apparently didn't meet the demographic for. When I asked at the front desk there was a mad scramble. Its clear racism and will not return to Standard. VIP is a joke. read more

4 & 1/2... As a longtime patron of various US Standard properties, namely the NYC Highline and East Village branches, Miami Beach, Downtown LA and the OG original Hollywood location (RIP), I was very interested to see how they would do London, and I was not disappointed. Very on brand but also offering some unique, London-specific vibes. Location is clutch, particularly since it wound up being directly across the street from the beautiful and historic St Pancras International Train Station, which as luck would have it was the location of the terminus of our Eurostar train we took into London from Paris, so we literally just had to walk our bags across the street upon our arrival. The station is also a major hub for London's famously fantastic subway system so the hotel really offers a great base to get around the city from. The striking brutalist structure of the renovated Camden town hall building could have easily passed as being designed and built directly by the Standard folks as it looks exactly like what you expect from them, in a great way. Beyond that the room was smartly decorated in that classic sexy Standard style with just a touch of classic London-Mod Style thrown in, and offered us a great view of the aforementioned gorgeous train station. Very comfortable bed and luxurious shower and tub. In classic Standard fashion, there was a rollicking club on the rooftop (a la the boom boom room in the NYC Highline location) with lines snaking around the corner and music blasting late into the late hours. We never made it up there but did spend some time in the ground level bar/lounge and the scene was very cool, seemingly populated by hip Londoners, and the espresso martini was delicious. Prices I thought were pretty reasonable all things considered so I would highly recommend the hotel for any London excursion with the caveat that one must be ok with staying in a party-forward atmosphere. Happily I, at the ripe old age of 40 am still ok with that! read more

Not worth the money. If you have to stay in the center of town just save money and get a less expensive hotel. Public transportation is great- so you're better off staying outside of the center. The Standard was mediocre. The room was okay. The beds were okay. The hotel and rooms felt dark and claustrophobic at times. Even a bottle of water in the room cost you. The people working there were nice but weren't exceptionally friendly. The furniture was beautiful! The views from the cocktail lounge and restaurant on the 10th floor were wonderful! The rooftop lounge was mediocre...a lot of turf, smudgy glass, loud music, and not very relaxing. A place to be seen drinking or photographing for Instagram if that's your thing. read more

I just flew in from San Diego and I loved this hotel and LOVED the staff! Everyone was amazing and eager to make sure I had everything I needed. I believe they just opened here one month ago in July. The swanky, chic feel was fun! The restaurants were delicious! One was farm to table fresh and light with amazing unique flavors, the other was a fun bar with heartier food. The night scene was hip and the DJ was playing in a glassed off section of their library hang out lobby surrounding the restaurants. Fun crowd and great vibe! Fabulous experience here!! The hotel is as expected beautiful with an eclectic and tasteful aesthetic and is in an ideal location to move around London by tube or walk to places like Angel or Camden Town on the canals via Granary Square. My junior suite room was bright, spacious and tastefully decorated (it deviated from the polarizing color schemes used in most king & queen rooms in favor of a more traditional palette). Staff members at reception who helped me check in and check out were a little inexperienced for the hotel category but friendly, while most of those working the front door (a mix of hotel staff and security) were borderline rude. One hostess in the breakfast room was downright hostile. The hotel faces Euston Road which means that it offers beautiful views of St. Pancras and most likely suffers from road noise on the lower floors. Road noise was not an issue on the 9th floor where I stayed but bar/club noise was: at 10pm loud thumping music started and two nights in a row a group of women in the room next to mine came back at 3am and partied loudly until past 6am with zero intervention by the hotel. And that is the main issue: at this hotel on Friday and Saturday I have consistently bumped into drunk and typically rude fashion victim types and this was compounded by the general lack of friendliness and professionalism of staff. It does not feel like a 5 star hotel experience and the service level at the US properties is on another level. The only reason why I was able to sleep is that I brought noise canceling Quieton earplugs; the foam plugs provided by the hotel were powerless against the noise generated by the guests. Without my earplugs my rating would have been much lower, so, if you are not coming here to party into the night and sleep during the day I suggest you take precautions or stay elsewhere which is what I'll do next time without a doubt. read more
