This hotel is probably the best option in Allentown. I was not familiar with the Renaissance brand and I'm still unsure of it's brand prop and differentiation. It bills itself as luxury, but this is not a luxury hotel at all. The hotel is easy to find, though self-park is a pain. It's a hike from the garage to the hotel, so it is better to valet. Check-in staff was friendly and it was quick to get extra towels. No one was at the desk for check-out. The lobby is very nice but some music would help. It felt sterile. The rooms are cute. We appreciated the homage to the area with Crayola wallpaper, a big A, and perhaps even the region's former lace industry with the bathroom wallpaper (hard to tell). Beds were comfy but the linens were extremely worn. This hotel needs all new linens. More hooks would be appreciated. Bathroom sink barely drained. I appreciated the makeup mirror but it would not lock in place correctly. The wastebasket in the bathroom looked like housekeeping staff realized it was missing a wastebasket and grabbed one from someone's office. Or Walmart. Mini fridge was dirty and had mold. Room needed to be cleaner; it should not have passed inspection. Though renovated, this hotel looks so worn. It's like they renovated but didn't refresh. We had two rooms; one room was missing a safe and a door placard. Elevators require keycards (as all do/should these days); another keycard entry is required to get into your floor's corridor, which is simultaneously appreciated and concerning. We were frustrated because while we liked the hotel, we feel it could have been much better and been a 4-star experience with a few tweaks. We may need to return due to family circumstances; I hope they greatly improve before our next stay.

This hotel is at the heart of downtown Allentown at PPL arena. From the parking lot, you need to walk through some part of the arena. There are signs on the wall to direct you to the hotel. My only complaint is there's a short flight of stairs with no ramp so it's a challenge for me carrying a luggage plus some heavy bags. The hotel is nice and secure. In the elevator you need to tap the hotel key before selecting the floor. I stayed on fifth floor where the ballroom is also located. There's another secured door leading to the rooms that you need to unlock by tapping your key. Gym is on third floor that opens 24 hours. Very comfortable elliptical machines. There's also cable workout equipment, sets of dumbbells, two bench press. I wish they provide yoga mats. Room is clean. Unfortunately our tv wasn't working. There's a fridge and keurig machine. The bathroom door also serves as closet door. Stand in shower with Aveeda rosemary and mint shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.

Just some examples of the hair.

We recently booked a room for our daughter who had a late check in. In the morning she discovered that the room and bathroom were covered in hair from a prior guest, despite the 'this room has been cleaned and sanitized' placard on the door. By hair, I mean personal hair. Pubic hair to be specific. And by room I mean all over the bathroom surfaces and bed sheets. Despite our communication to the front desk and manager on duty, there was no call from the general manager about our complaint. Our room was credited, but no personal accountability was taken by the hotel. Based on the response, I'm sure that they haven't learned the lesson.

    Parking - very confusing!!

The service is not what it seems. We checked in before 3pm and during check in I specially asked please make up the trundle bed for my kids. We came back at night and nothing done. Requested towels and wasn't there either. I'm not expecting 5 star but they gave us complete attitudes. And lied several times. Said why didn't YOU tell us earlier. But we did and we even saw you write it down. Then said well housekeeping left for the day and they were gone. You missed it. How when they were walking around and such when we checked and asked for it? Then kept lying that she was the only one there. We just walked in and there was a guy and a girl. Then we had to go make our own bed and go downstairs to get the sheets. She disappeared and there was the same guy I spoke to. No one apologized, just here are your sheets and towels. Then continued lying that housekeeping leaves at 5 and we said but we checked in before 3. Well they left sometimes early sometimes late. Meanwhile we saw them everywhere when we checked in. On top of that none of the workers gave us their names and we couldn't speak to a manager bc they also left. Everyone left except for these two idiots who continues to lie instead of just owning up to their mistakes. Sometimes that could be more forgivable. On but wait, he just literally left in the middle of the convo LOL. Turned around and left. That's it I don't give a sh*t. Take the sheets and put your bed together or don't, bc he can care less. Also there were hairs on the toilet and sofa too. I wasn't even going to gripe about that but since I'm already here. I'm pretty sure a lot of these reviews are just plain fake so good luck staying here.

We came from the Days Inn in Scranton and left in an emergency because there were cockroaches and crackheads living there!!! Among many other gross things. We booked the Hilton Garden Inn at 8pm and checked in at 9. Evelyn was working the front desk and she was soooo kind, friendly and understanding of the situation we just came from. They were very accommodating to us. It changed our trip from a nightmare to a safe and relaxing place to call home for the night. The gym looked nice though we didn't use it. The indoor pool: the entire room was warm! I'm a princess when it comes to cold water and the pool was perrrrrfect temperature! Slightly cooler than body temp so it was refreshing but I wasn't shivering like I normally am. The jacuzzi could have been slightly hotter but it was still nice. We didn't eat there but the breakfast (like $15 for an adult?) looked really good with a lot of options. Checkout is at noon but we were able to request a late checkout of 1pm. It's located about 20 minutes from the Main Street of Allentown with shops and things. Would definitely choose to stay here again!

Check in is advertised as 4pm (a little on the late side, IMO) and in order to check into our room and leave our bags we had to pay a $50 early check in fee. If our room is available, why do we have to pay? Just frustrating. The valet area is in a terrible spot on a heavily traveled road - you can only fit one car - so timing on that is a bit tricky. On a positive note - it's a nice, clean hotel that's is within walking distance to several restaurants and businesses. I don't know that we would stay again though - there are other hotels in the area that are just as nice.

Though tired, Dale made certain we were taken care of with an excellent meal. (We say him back in the morning to work breakfast alone again!) The rooms are amazing and comfortable. This isn't a luxury hotel by any means, but it's comfortable and perfectly adequate for a weary traveler and a pet. This is an older hotel. The lamps have outlets in the bases, but no USB and certainly not USB-C ports. Good thing I brought charger thingies that plug into outlets, or I would be without a charged laptop, phone, and watch! Front desk staff is friendly and helpful. So is customer service, when you call. There's a pool, a 24/7 business center, and other amenities, but no restaurant on site. There's a diner nearby, and a Taco Bell. I don't eat Taco Bell, but the diner was a very short walk. Even if you are just staying one night, sign up for the free membership. You get free WiFi and can ask for early check-in/ late check-out. And you constantly get thanked for being a member, lol. I was delighted to see a bathtub! One advantage of an older hotel. Renovations always seem to involve replacing the tub with a giant shower. Bleah. The kitchenette is stocked with plates, cups, and wine glasses. Woohoo! But the TV is oddly located facing a wall, not the bed or sofa, although I suppose it could be turned. There's no table next to the chaise longue, so I put my wineglass on an ottoman. Not ideal, since I had to stretch, but it worked. The bed was comfortable, but I woke up itchy. This may be because it's a pet-friendly room, and I am allergic to MANY breeds of dogs, and all cats, birds, hamsters, guinea pigs, etc. Sadly, I forgot to pack my allergy meds. Anyway, I would stay in one of these hotels again. Perfectly adequate, and much more space than just a room.

The room was a good size, clean and perfect for two people. It would probably be a little cramped for a family. The couch opens to sleep two more people, but I wouldn't recommend that. It would be too crowded. There was a pool right across from our room, but we didn't have time to use it. Luckily, I was able to nab one of the closest parking spots to the front entrance after looping around the building. My initial thought was that it was very quiet. Perhaps I was on a floor by myself, but I didn't hear or see anyone else on my floor during my one-night stay. I really loved my room. It was contemporary-styled and comfortable with plenty of light fixtures and a floor to ceiling window. I especially liked the light over the sofa because it automatically turned off, and turned back on after it detected motion. The bed was also comfortable and soft with high quality foam pillows. There was a QR code by the bed, and when directed to the website contained a list of information and hotel policies. One of those policies was in regard to delivery orders. Deliveries cannot be left at the front desk or taken to your room by the driver/carrier. They must be picked up in the lobby, which was fairly simple to follow. After check-out I had left clothes in the closet and didn't realize until hours later. I called the front desk and was able to coordinate picking them up after housekeeping checked the room for my items and collected them. I really appreciate Amanda's promptness and level of customer service whilst assisting me over the phone. My only dissatisfaction was that I didn't receive hand soap in the bathroom, but otherwise it was a much needed and unrealized change from Marriott.
