Well, Rennaisance Marriott is a much better choice. Looking at the Yelp reviews, we're here 11 years since Yelp friend Bill S. was with his recommendation. We concur. Crystal City Renaissance Marriott is conveniently located in the DC area within easy quick access to Ronald Reagan Airport. The hotel itself is well maintained and clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful with advice and knowledge of the area. As usual with the Marriott Bonvoy brand, beds are very comfy. There's a restaurant with a bar on the premises, as well as an Illy Caffé with excellent coffee. Italian coffee is always a big plus. We're close to downtown historic DC with its many sightseeing opportunities: the Capitol, White House, Lincoln Memorial, all of the great Smithsonian museums, the Portrait Gallery, the Washington Memorial, the Reflecting Pool, etc. and many great shops and restaurants. The arrival set the tone. The host was the standout before the bags even settled. Warm. Alert. Almost aggressively welcoming in the best way. Requests were heard and handled. Details got caught. I decided to stay at this hotel instead of the one where the convention I was attending took place, and I'm glad I did! The staff in my opinion went above and beyond at the front desk. Really kind, really professional, and efficient in every regard. I also never had to wait long for an elevator, which becomes such an issue with big conventions. I liked my room, and I could view the planes at the airport from my window which was awesome. Admittedly, the Wi-Fi was a bit sluggish when I tried to finish up some last minute work. I was able to get a great workout in at the gym, but the wipes did run out while I was in there, and I did not see a hand sanitizer anywhere. There is a bathroom, but I would have felt better if his sanitizer was available. Now, check in time is a little later than what is common, starting at 4:00 p.m., but it's very possible I could have checked in early. But I didn't try. On the flip side, check out is at noon, which I think is perfect. I am most likely going to stay here if I return to the convention next year. There are a lot of hotels in this area, and this one will not disappoint. read more

A somewhat inconvenient location on the far edge of National Landing but an okay choice if you get a good rate. Most the front desk staff are very friendly and helpful. The furniture in the rooms is awkward with shelves that are extremely low should a guest want to put away clothing. The bar closes ridiculously early. However, the Hyatt across the corner has a bar that stays open at least two hours later than the bar here. read more

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. This hotel is located about a 20 minute drive from Washington, D.C. the check-in process was easy. There were quite a few carts to assist with trasporting luggage to our room. The lobby is very pretty with a cool art installation as soon as you walk in. There are lots of different seating areas in the lobby along with a bar/restaurant and a coffee shop. The room I stayed in was a 2 queen bedroom. I thought it was spacious allowing plenty of room for both of our suitcases to open up. It was clean, and the bathroom was stocked with essentials. I never heard any noise from neighbors, so that was a plus. If you need to refill a water bottle, go up to the floor where the gym is located and there are water bottle refill stations inside of there. read more

Well. It's kinda just a hotel. The rooms are kinda dark and comfy but not cozy. What gives this hotel a leg up is the super friendly staff! From the bar to the front desk, they are very nice. There's not too much around the hotel but they do have a mini shop inside in case you forgot some toothpaste or other essential. read more

Recently stuck in DC overnight after a cancelled flight. Made the reservation quickly despite it being late on a Saturday. Check-in was speedy, the staff were professional, knowledgeable and friendly. I had dinner at the bar in the hotel and found the food/drinks pretty tasty and reasonably priced. They have a free shuttle that runs every thirty minutes to DCA and that was on time and convenient. Unexpected but quite pleasant detour. read more

I have not stayed at a Renaissance hotel in long while so booked a one night stay here last minute. The free shuttle to/from the airport and Crystal City Metro was convenient and left very half hour. That helped offset the distance of this hotel from public transportation . I wish I did better research to confirm the club hours as it closed at noon on Friday and reopened on Sunday. I was able to enter at 11:55am for five minutes and grabbed fresh fruit, yogurt and a soda. It had a nice view of DCA and looked relaxing. Gym was amazing with the most equipment I've seen in a US hotel that I can recall. Besides rows of cardio equipment they had lots of free and machine weights and a dedicated area for online classes. Towels and a filtered water dispenser were available. In lieu of the club access, I was comped breakfast in the hotel restaurant. It was a basic buffet with a omelette station but at least everything was cooked well, fruits were ripe, and it filled me up. Staff were friendly overall. The room was standard and overall in good condition and comfortable. Lots of plugs for charging. It had a large shower and lots of bathroom counter space. The amenities were by Aveda and the rosemary mint had a refreshing smell. As I faced away from DCA the room was very quiet. The only criticism of the room was that the safe would not fully open. Not sure if that was a design issue or something else. Also most hotel elevators now use an extra security measure with key pads to allow access the floors via the room key but not here. Came here for a company Christmas party and stayed the night as well. Valet was fast and very friendly. Check in was also quick and we got to our room in less than 5 minutes. Lobby was nicely decorated for Christmas too. The room was good. A little dated and had dim lighting and but was clean enough. Great view of DC and the river. The party was very nice. The hotel staff were very good from the bartenders to the food serving staff. The room where the party was was clean and had nice decorations. The food was pretty good too. Great location and walking distance to a lot of good food spots as well. Would stay here again. read more

I only came here for a half-day conference and didn't actually stay at the hotel. But the entire hotel seemed very clean, nice, and spacious. The conference room was also big enough to fit our group of about 550 people comfortably. And all common areas, where we hung out between sessions and while waiting for the shuttle bus, were again, very spacious. read more

Clean and modern hotel right in the heart of Arlington, along Crystal City area. I took the shuttle from the airport over and it was really quick. They have valet only, and it is not cheap. ***Overall review: *** Excellent experience, I would recommend this location to anyone and I would definitely return! ***Detailed review:*** Getting to the hotel was a challenge, as it is located in Crystal City which is a mix of feeder roads and one way streets. Parking around the outside of the hotel is paid parking which only allows 12 hour parking. The valet is not 12 hours so it is better to self-park, however self-parking is on the lower levels and valet is at the upper levels. I found the property to be modern, classy, and the staff were very personable and professional. Furniture in the lobby area should be removed, swapped with more appropriate furniture for the setting, or at least cleaned. The rest of the hotel appears clean but could use new furniture as some is starting to show wear and tear. The room was very clean and had a beautiful view of the airport and Potomac River. The only bad experience I had was the bar staff seemed slightly overwhelmed and took a long time to be served. They could benefit from adding additional staff on busy nights. After my recent stay (my second this year), I can confidently say this is the most mid hotel I've ever stayed in. Good for business travel due to shuttles to the airport and the Crystal City Metro Stop, but the perks really stop there. Rooms are basic and functional. I purchased the Club Lounge level this time only to be treated to a sub par continental breakfast of eggs, cereal boxes, and bananas and oranges. That's fine, but not worth the upgrade. The attached restaurant is terribly overpriced and there are not many other food options around. Highly recommend the Crystal City Cafe a short walk away in an office building. Their food is cheap and much fresher than the Club Lounge in the hotel. read more

I attended a conference here in October 2024. The hotel itself was lovely - clean amenities, pleasant staff, and organized event procedures. I would recommended this location for future business events. The two empty stars are particularly for my experience with the valet parking service. Upon the end of the event and time to retrieve my car, I went to the front desk to validate my ticket and was told to "meet someone at the desk outside". Once outside the employee at the desk told me I had to retrieve my own car. (Note: parking and valet services were $40). Meanwhile, there was another conference attendee who was given her keys and there was no trace of her car nor could the staff communicate where it may be. When I reached my car in the valet lot, my keys were kept on the windshield - no security. I asked the worker in the space if I needed to give them my ticket to confirm ownership of my vehicle - I was told it was not necessary. The thought that my vehicle was in an unsecured space, with the keys out and window down, and nobody confirming that the person taking my car at the end of the day was myself....I am very dissatisfied with this service. read more

With an early morning trip scheduled at Reagan Airport we decided to stay the night at their location which has shuttle service ( as most do) beginning 5 am. I had dropped my son at a wedding some years ago and remembered it seemed a nice property. We checked him pleasantly with Jane and were upgraded to a suite which was a nice surprise but not unexpected given my status bar Marriott. We are hungry and went to the restaurant which has a nice lobby bar. Ordered the crab as an appetizer and asked for vegetables and mashed potato. Were surprised at hearing that 7.30 pm the restaurant would run out of mash potato. We asked for fried and no one told us they were served with garlic so we sent it back for regular fries. Other than that service was fine . Not inexpensive with 2 appetizers and a glass of wine $57 without tip. Second surprise just 1 small bottle of water in the room. I checked with Jane and she gave me 2 additional. Thanks Jane . On the shuttle nite there are 3 stops given Marriott properties so if you are in a rush factor the time in. Nice polite driver. The Lounge is also closed for the Holidays. No note on website . So a few notes above to hold from giving 5 stars and I was generous with 4. With using a certificate or points but not overpaying . read more

The computers were down when I tried checking in. Luckily, I did mobile check-in on my phone. They had my keys ready. The wait for an elevator can take a while. I get to my room and it had a weird and funky smell. I set my bags down and was ready for a nap. Until I saw food in the room. The room wasn't cleaned thoroughly. Someone's leftover food boxes were there. Didn't help that the heater was on in the room so the smell just radiated and sat in the air. I looked at the bathroom and that seemed okay. The bed did not look fixed at all. So I gathered my belongings and went back down to request a new room. Would have been great if I got upgraded to a way better room though. My new room, the AC would not go down below 72. It was stuffy my entire stay. Really didn't want to bother getting a new room at that point. Also, some of the elevator buttons don't work. You can press it to go up/down, but you have to press the other side as well. No way of knowing this until you're waiting for the elevator on your floor for 5 minutes. Only bright side for me was the shuttle service to/from DCA and the gym has a squat rack. read more

Stayed for one night and was very pleased. The suite was very comfortable. So much so that my friend fell asleep on the sofa after a few board games lol. The armchairs were nice as well. The king size bed was soft and spacious and the bathroom was the cleanest room in the suite. One thing that could be improved was the dusting. The both nightstands were a little dusty.. I imagine these are one of the most used pieces of furniture in the room so it made me a little worried.. I can't speak on the food. I'm not a fan of hotel food and some of my favorite restaurants are in DC which is only a 15 min drive. Lastly, the garage parking was convenient. I thought it was strange that the garage elevator only went up to the lobby, where we had to then walk across the lobby to reach the other elevator that goes to our rooms.. that was a bit inconvenient, but too terrible. Overall the stay was nice.. I didn't want to get out of bed in the morning, so I definitely felt at home lol read more

I was in D.C. in May 2018 for my sister's Masters degree (MPH) graduation from George Washington University. I stayed in Virginia for 3 days and 2 nights. My hotel stay in Virginia was wonderful. I shared a room with my parents and there were 2 beds inside. The room was like any other hotel room with a TV, tea/coffee pot, bathroom, and hotel phone. I loved how clean it was inside the room and how the room was cleaned by staff during the 2 nights I stayed there. The hotel has nice, BIG windows which provide for wonderful views outside. Also, the hotel is close to the DCA airport which is nice because I got a free shuttle ride from the airport to the hotel. The service at the hotel was wonderful and the food in the hotel restaurant was okay. I ordered the Kale soup during my first night there (Wednesday, 16 May) and the server explained the dish. I wish he would have mentioned that it was filed with onions because I hate onions. I ended up changing my order and getting pizza instead. So much for trying to be healthy...haha. Also, my mom and sister-in-law complained a bit about how their food had too much salt. My brunch experience on Friday morning was okay. I was really excited to try the buttermilk pancakes but eating a pancake, my stomach started acting up and I felt sick. Maybe I am allergy to buttermilk? I drank some water and eat some sausages and I felt fine later. Besides the food, I especially LOVED the hotel lobby which is what was unique and different about this hotel compared to others I've been to. The decor and ambiance of the whole place was special. There are 2 computers at the lobby for hotel guests to use internet and to print documents. The coffee shop in the lobby as well as lounge chairs in the lobby are a nice touch. I loved playing chess with my niece in the lobby. She had a blast "winning" at the game of chess. The fruit infused water in the lobby was refreshing to drink. Overall, I had a good experience staying here besides the food issues. A restaurant can't please everyone with food but they can provide good service. I will probably be back here though if visit the D.C. area again. My dad got a good deal on the hotel cost. This is my 127th Yelp review overall. 81 reviews for 2018. I was concerned about the airport noise, but I have a view of the airport and rarely heard any outside noise. The rooms are comfortable and have a nice desk to get some work done. As you can see I have stayed here in the past. I really like this hotel, because I usually self park my car here. They charged $37 a day for self-parking. Don't park at the first G1 level, which is mainly used for valet and short two-hour parking. I self-parked on the next level down or G2. I was able to go in and out of the parking garage during my hotel stay. My check-in went smoothly. I told the front desk I had to check out one day earlier than my original reservation. I also requested late 3pm check out. Both were not a problem. My king bedroom 1015 had a very large 55-inch HDTV, which I could angle towards my desk when I was working on my laptop. Most hotels have smaller than 55-inch HDTVs. Around 45-inches HDTVs seem to be most popular in most hotels. I also had a nice view to the North. I could also see the DCA airport to the right of my window. My room cost $214 inclusive of all fees and taxes. I used my Bonvoy app to check-out. I did not receive my invoice via email or my hotel point credits as usual until I called the hotel. Also my hotel key card would not open the parking garage gate when I tried to leave the hotel in my car after my late 3pm check out. A worker had to open the parking gate for me. Also I did not receive credit for my renaissance hotel stay until I called the Bonvoy elite customer service. They said it usually takes ten days to post my points credit. I called a week after my stay. I guess I am impatient. I am Bonvoy elite, therefore, I always get access to their Bonvoy lounge. I always enjoy my Bonvoy lounge complimentary buffet breakfast, evening snacks, dessert and evening snacks in addition to bottled water and non-alcoholic drinks. Renaissance lounges are generally upscale with a good food selection as is the case here. I always enjoy the nice views of DCA airport from the lounge. Since I had a car I did not walk to the DC metro this time. I mostly stayed at the hotel for my conference. I would definitely return here again despite my minor inconveniences. read more

Great steal of a Groupon Deal! I had room 425, which is right by the elevators and overlooks the entrance of the hotel and looks out towards the airport. So the view isn't anything to rave about. The hotel has an elegant feel to it. Parking alone is pricey, about $30 a night, or you can park at the parking garage across the street which is cheaper. There's a restaurant downstairs and a fancy coffee shop, which I unfortunately did not get to visit even though I really really wanted to. They've got a shuttle to run you over to the Metro so you can hop on and spend all day at the National Mall if you so please. If you have any questions about where to go or how to get there, please use the navigator by the entrance! The gentleman was more than kind as he explained the Metro routes and exits. I don't like to have a room by the elevator, but luckily I only heard a few sounds the first night of my weekend stay. I was exhausted and slept through the whole night, which means the bed was perfectly comfortable. I was in town for a function which thankfully happened to be right across the street. And the airport is about a 10 minute drive early in the morning. I just don't like the parking costs, but that's bound to be something to deal with in a city. read more

I booked a reservation online at the nearby Residence Inn, but they couldn't accommodate me when I checked-in on August 12th due to no availability. After walking from the Residence Inn to the Renaissance, I checked in, went to my room, and promptly put the do not disturb sign on the door. With the do not disturb sign still on my door on August 13th, I hear the 1st of many knocks on my door about mid-morning. I assume it's housekeeping, so I just yell from lying in the bed that I don't need service. They go away and then at some point later, I hear a 2nd knock at the door. I again yell from lying in the bed that I don't need service. Much later, I hear a 3rd knock on the door and I'm very annoyed, so I jump out of bed and open the door and tell the housekeeper that I don't need service. She asks me about checking out and I tell her I'm not checking out until the next day. She says ok and walks away. Later that afternoon, I receive a 4th knock on the door and I open the door and tell the housekeeper I'm checking out the next day and that I'd already told another housekeeper that earlier. She says ok and walks away. Around 5:45 pm, I'm talking to my dad on my cell phone and he hears the hotel phone in my room ringing, so we end our call. By the time I get to the hotel phone, there is no one on the line. About 10 minutes later, I receive a 5th knock on my door. I immediately tell the person at the door that two other people had been to my room and I told them I wasn't checking out until the next day. She immediately identified herself as a manager and told me she had tried calling me about 10 minutes prior on the hotel phone. She tells me that my reservation was only for one night. I explain to her that I booked a room online for two nights at the Residence Inn, but they moved me to the Renaissance due to no availability. I then pull out my cell phone and show her the email I received when I booked my reservation. She apologizes and said the Residence Inn staff only booked a reservation for one night when they transferred my reservation over to the Renaissance. She said she'd go back downstairs and extend my stay for an additional day. About 20 minutes later, I went to grab some dinner at a nearby restaurant to bring back to my room to eat. When I get back to my room, neither key card is working, so I had to go back downstairs to the front desk and wait in line with my food. When it's my turn, I inform the front desk clerk that neither of my key cards are working. At some point, the manager that had knocked on my door earlier comes to the counter and calls me by name. I tell her neither of my key cards are working. They re-keyed both cards after checking my ID. The person in the room next to must have had a portable speaker with them because the bass from their music was permeating through the wall to my room and it was loud at various times on each of the three days I was there. One evening, I turned my TV volume up as loud as it would go to try to drown out the sound of their music, but I could still hear it. On the day I checked out, I recorded for about 20 seconds and could hear the playback on my phone loud and clear. Afterwards, I called the front desk to report the loud music and the fact that it had been happening the last 3 days. They called the room of the other person and they turned down the volume. The lack of communication between the Residence Inn staff and the Renaissance staff, lack of communication internal to the Renaissance staff, personal disturbance by the Renaissance staff x6, and the loud music from the person in the room next to me is enough for me to never return to this property nor recommend it to anyone I know. read more

I loved staying here and would absolutely stay here again. The room was incredibly comfortable and clean. The location is extremely convenient to the airport with plenty of food options in walking distance. The hotel has a shuttle that will bring you to the nearby shopping district as well as pick up and drop off from the airport. The consierge, David, was super knowledgable and helpful too when we needed to find a party store to buy balloons for an event. The in house restaurant was very good too. All in all, this was a fantastic stay. There are two hotels connected so it was a bit confusing at first, but we quickly found where we needed to be. As a Marriott Gold Elite, access to wifi and the club room was perfect. They were also very quick to respond to the chat function on the app. Excellent experience!!! read more

As soon I as entered the lobby, I thought the space was either new or recently renovated, and I appreciated the room design and how clean the hotel appeared. I also appreciated the complimentary breakfast passes that I received when I checked-in, and the Club Lounge (available for certain levels of Marriott Rewards membership) provided free drinks and tasty snacks. Once I checked in, I thought my stay would be slam dunk. However, there were several service challenges during my stay (e.g. receiving inaccurate information about shuttle schedules, having the airport shuttle driver not open the back of the shuttle van after dropping guests off the airport and then not securing it when I opened it to retrieve my luggage before he drove off, receiving unclear instructions on how to use the complimentary breakfast pass, gruff responds from cafe/restaurant staff) that diminished my experience. These were not major snafus, but it added up to me not wanting to stay here again anytime soon. On the other hand, the staff at the Club Lounge and various hotel employees were friendly and welcoming, so I guess my overall rating reflects a mixed experience. read more

We came here and rented a couple of rooms for a weekend to celebrate a birthday in the area. Check-in was AWESOME! The young man who checked us in was VERY informative, helpful and professional! The hotel itself is very nicely decorated and very clean. Parking is pricey at $37/night for self-parking, but it is a downtown area, so that can be normal. The room was very clean and nicely laid out. Bathroom was awesome, clean and had very quick/very hot water, which felt great in the shower! We always love the towels at Renaissance and these were on par with our expectations! The TV worked like a charm, so did the clean (it was in a bag) remote and the sleep button (I often find that the sleep button doesn't work well in many hotels). Loved that the TV had a channel guide to let you know what was on, when scrolling through channels. Bed and sheets were very comfy and nice & clean. My only gripe was due to Covid, they're not making rooms up. If you want new towels (I never re-use towels), you need to go to the desk to get them. This wasn't that big of a deal though. Checking out was a breeze and the location is actually quite nice; not far from Old Town Alexandria, not far from DC and within Crystal City! I'd definitely return! read more

Soo recently I stayed at the Renaissance and I must say that I was extremely disappointed. Upon checking into my room I noticed the walls are super thin. You hear everything from your neighbor, literally their entire conversation. Also during the pandemic when hotels are suppose to be cleaner, I found hair throughout my entire room. Even on the desk! Parking is $37/night and they don't put water in your room. Oh and every time the fan or AC turns off there is a loud thud. It scares me each time it happens. Just an overall uncomfortable stay, I will NEVER stay here again! This hotel has really lost its notoriety. The only great thing is the location. read more

Renaissance Arlington Capital View Hotel - Upon checking into room, hair on the desk - Hotels Near Me - Arlington, Virginia

Came here for a conference, my company paid for all the rooms, however, the person at the front desk didn't communicate with each other so they charge me for the room, once I got it straight and they're supposed to charge the company. I was told by the manager she made it very clear she was the supervisor four times but could not give me a receipt proving that I either paid for it or that they were going to return my money and charge the computer for the room. She said that's not my problem. That's the dayshift. I asked when the dayshift would be here and she could not answer the question of when the next shift was come in. So I'm put in a position where I have nothing to prove that I paid for the room or I will be reimbursed for it. Then she downplayed it and said a lot of you are going through this, so it's not a big deal. SMH. I will not stay here ever again. read more
