After my son's third year in a row attending Vacation Bible School at First Sarasota this passed week, I felt compelled to share about my family's experience at this wonderful church. From the moment you step foot on the campus of First Sarasota and their corresponding VBS children's camp, volunteers are there to greet you with huge smiles on their faces. There is a security guard for added peace of mind walking the premises as well as a designated door opener who checks to ensure that you are a parent who is supposed to be there picking up a child. I love both of these aspects - it is obvious that First Sarasota is dedicated to keeping our kids safe. The VBS itself is run so efficiently. From the initial registration, to the check-in process, to the daily drop off and pickup - everything is organized and there are dedicated teams for each step of the process. It is so evident that so much preparation goes into the camp. The children are divided by age, and each room is elaborately decorated every year to bring the theme of the week to life. I wish I would have taken more pictures, because truly they did such a great job at bringing this year's theme of "destination dig" to life! Above all, the volunteers are what make this place so wonderful. Every person we encountered was kind, ready to help and serve in any way, and clearly passionate about children. I am so grateful for all of the people that have poured into my son the last three years. As parents in 2023, it is not an easy feat to find people that we can trust with our kids. However, my husband and I have always had full confidence in the programs and the people of First Sarasota. We love you, First Sarasota!

They are very different style churches...This review is to highlight the Source Church on 301. The Source church is focused on changing ppls lives in/ through Christ, and I have seen many miracles there. Pastors Ralph and Pastor Joanne are passionate, knowledgeable and legit in their ministry. They are bible based, and filled with the spirit. The praise and worship is often spirit moving and leads my spitit to tears in a good way often. The Source provides small groups, business related, couples related and a newly formed singles groups, in addition to child care for Sunday services and one off counseling when needed. ( call the office for details if in crisis ) It is a smaller church with a big heart. Check them out at 9 and 11- Sundays attend a live service or inquire at the info center Sundays in the Hub. They double booked us for both the rehearsal dinner (we got shoved out but another group!) They double booked us for our event. After we had decorated they allowed another group to come in and hold a memorial service!!! They promised us a professional sound guy. He was a "fill in" for someone else and made so many mistakes we could have cried. He refused the volume we requested for our songs and wouldn't tell us why. I could go on and on! Please don't allow your wedding day to be ruined!!

We decided on Unity because it had a great indoor chapel and adjoining hall for our reception. We married in July and the temperature inside was perfect in both locations, and dry since it rained that day. Our wedding was amazing. Unity is set in a forest setting with large windows and a chapel feel. The hall has been redone a week before we were married, and had great tile floors and a spacious kitchen. The staff is friendly and accommodating but I recommend that you cater and use your own sound person as we did for a wedding because they are not really equipped for it. My son is in the restaurant business and is a local DJ so he handled the music and food. You can't ask for a better facility though and the price charged is REALLY reasonable compared to other venues in Sarasota. We had a great wedding day and I highly recommend this venue for a wedding.

I tried many different churches, many different denominations, and finally felt "at home" in this beautiful and welcoming building. Father Fausto is made of light and joy. There is no other way to say it. He bubbles over with enthusiasm and care for his flock and every single time I meet him he greets me as if we are old friends. This man understands that there are many snowbirds, travelers, and visitors to his parish and he welcomes each as though they were family. I know that Catholic Churches can seem cold to outsiders or intimidating, but if others could model themselves after St Martha's, that idea would quickly pass away. Father Fausto is progressive and realistic and delightfully Italian. He uses humor and real life experience to convey the Word. I love how he, and many of the other priests, are able to break down the message in a way that is relatable to the congregation. I feel certain that he and the current Pope would be the best of friends. It is hard not to feel lighter and more hopeful in Father Fausto's presence. If you are an early riser, I highly recommend the 7:30am mass. There is a small parking lot behind the church, and that quickly fills up. If you are planning on attending 9:00am or 10:30am, the church opens half an hour before service, and I recommend getting there early, as you may have to acquire street parking and walk. The only thing I find a little disappointing are the acoustics. It can be very difficult to hear when the church is packed, which is almost guaranteed during the 9:00 and 10:30 services. The beautiful architecture and stain glass windows are beautiful, but do nothing for the sound. Like the congregation, the brotherhood of priests is a cultural melting pot with many different nations represented, and it can make discerning their words very difficult when accompanied by the coughing, crying, pew shifting, and general hum of the congregation. Overall, regardless of your religious affiliation, visiting St Martha's is a wonderful experience. The courtyard outside is peaceful and serene. Everyone who passes by you is quick with a genuine greeting. If you have the opportunity to attend Mass, do. Especially if Father Fausto is speaking. You will be inspired to be better, and that is a universal Christian goal.
