If you want to study, then understand that about twice a week this will be serenaded by jet aircraft low overhead. The fire alarms will also go off quite frequently. When people smoke in the parking garage, most commonly in summer, the whole building goes up. At the peak, this was biweekly. It's admittedly been some time since this happened, but I don't think it was for any reason other than the winter driving the smokers away. If something is broken it won't be fixed in a timely fashion. When my air conditioning failed in early July, it was not repaired until late August. The gym has been bereft of paper towels for months. The office doesn't respond to any inquiry for days, especially if you ask on a Friday or weekend. Picking up your mail is an ordeal. The office is open only from 10AM-3PM, and even then only for Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Posted and actual hours rarely overlap: they are usually there late and gone early, if countless meetings don't keep them. So if you have a class or work schedule that requires you to be present during those hours, you won't get your mail. Unless the office dumps the mail in the lobby. I've seen people grab packages from there. We're they the intended recipient? I don't know. On security, while there are cameras everywhere I've seen heroin needles in the stairwells, been harassed by panhandlers out front, and once broke into my apartment with a spatula. The actual living quarters are cramped. If you want to store your own possessions there, you're out of luck. I barely have room to walk around in my bedroom and I don't have that much stuff in there. I can imagine the triples or quadruple apartments can get quite loud too. The apartment is cheap and situated on a bus stop, but you can get much better living quarters in town for only a bit more money.

Their response? Do as little as possible in areas bikes are stored--no cameras, no additional security reinforcements/deterrents or patrols...nothing at all beyond telling residents that thefts are unavoidable. Our bikes stolen from behind a locked storage unit gate; others units/bikes attempted at various points, we have since learned from other residents. Nice views of the river, but caveat emptor applies to your belongings and their security apparently.

So I can't say I've done business with these folks, but I can say it's kinda sad when a business is "open" only about 8 hours a week and can't even get their phone system to handle voicemail messages. During the two years that Tom worked for me, I was mostly satisfied with his work. Our phone communication was always good; his email responsiveness, however, was not always the best. However, after my recent experience with him, which resulted in the termination of our working relationship, I must say I have come to question his judgement, integrity as well as accountability. Problems arose when I decided to raise the rent in one of my units this past summer and asked Tom to notify the tenants in spring. For months he assured me that everything was fine, the tenants had been notified and, when renewal time came, a new lease had been signed. However, after we failed to collect the new rent amount for several months in a row, I contacted my tenants, at which point it became clear that Tom had never pursued the lease renewal. Tom Rotella has let me down in a big way by failing to have my tenants sign an agreed upon lease renewal with a rent increase, which resulted in their tenancy becoming month-to-month as well as hundreds of dollars in lost revenue. Once I confronted him with the evidence and asked to see the lease, he stopped responding altogether. I wrote Tom one last email, giving him a chance to clarify and possibly rectify the situation. He has not responded to my email to this day. I therefore cannot recommend Tom Rotella to anyone looking for a reliable and dependable property manager.

Squeeeee! This place is AMAZING…read more I seriously cannot believe I've never been in/heard of this place after driving by it so often... and me being in love with all things old and chippy. The place is huge! It is pretty well organized. There is furniture throughout. There is a section for bathtubs---beautiful old clawfoot bathtubs. Oh yes, there is a section of just clawfeet too! There are tons of old doors, windows, reclaimed wood, cabinets, hardware, and so much more. I could spend hours in that place. And don't worry, I will. It was pretty cold in there today and my partner in crime was being a baby so I had to dillydally and linger less than I wanted to. The prices as marked were highish, but they are probably negotiable. I've got my mind on several pieces so I will update when I go back.
