As a member of the Lake association I was allowed to rent the association clubhouse building for Friday and Saturday. Everyone had a wonderful time. Dwight and his staff showed up promptly on time, set up quickly and efficiently. They were very accommodating and cooperative and were a contributing factor in success of my daughter's wedding. I give him a solid five stars! It would be a six if there was such a thing. ;) They are based locally in Hudson falls and their pretended recipes, service and prices are beyond reproach. Book early if you are interested in using his services, because he is swamped. He brings everything to the table (literally) and leaves nothing to chance. Thank you Dwight from Big D's BBQ. And a special thanks to his two staff members who were kind, helpful, professional and attentive!!! The smoked barbecue chicken, the pulled pork, and especially the brisket that got wiped out quickly was the talk of the party! The finger rolls and cornbread were the best I've ever tasted. This was served with an excellent coleslaw and a fabulous potato salad. Dwight made sure that there was absolutely no shortage of any of the catered food. We contracted for 50 guests. But I swear he cooked enough food for 100. I literally just spent 2 hours packing away the leftovers this morning. This is after insisting that anyone who wanted and could please take a large pan of barbecue products home! Don't forget that they have multiple flavors of custom BBQ sauces. Each one is different and unique but very flavorful. I found them pleasantly, very thick and he suggested I stretched them a little with red wine vinegar which of course, extended the yield of each bottle!! He gave me two bottles during the contracting time which I experimented with various meats leading up to the wedding. And they were overly exceptional! I can see why the reviews were so fabulous! I was surprised when I asked which of their barbecues they used to make it taste so good and they said "actually, none, it's just our special rub season blend and slow cooked". No wonder I didn't make a mess! They directed us to sample their selection of barbecue sauces and we agreed the blueberry was so good, we picked up a bottle! The chicken and bbq sauces are 5 stars. Not a fan of the coleslaw though, too spicy for me (I remember that from last time too, chicken was incredible, even the biscuit was really, really good, although small, but if I'm being completely honest, the slaw, I had to pass on both times.) One other time, was a party and they were catering. I had pulled pork sandwiches and it was maybe the best pulled pork sandwiches I ever had. Between the epic slow rub chicken and those sandwiches, I decided they deserve a great review. Super yum chicken and friendly service, giant portion chicken and potato makes up for small biscuit (tip, you're going to love these, ask for 2 of those). I highly recommend though if you ever want to experience what I believe is perfectly cooked bbq chicken (delicious right off the grill, even if you forget to add the sauce!)

WOW! The Famous Hattie's Mardi Gras Soirée!…read more What an evening.. A once in a life time chance to win 2 tickets to Hattie's Mardi Gras Soiree at the historic Canfield Casino and we won! Left home early as we have a 45 minute drive on a snowy cold night. I'm sure glad we did as we beat the crowd and checked in without a hitch. The cocktail lounge was decorated in festive Mardi Gras feathers, beads, and masks. Just lovely... Yes this was a fund raiser sponsored by many local companies donating their merchandise to be sold at chinese aution and a 50/50 drawing later in the evening. We had our complimentary Mardi Gras Cocktail and hors d'oeuvres were passed by amazing waitstaff from Hattie's Restaurant in downtown Saratoga. We listened to the wonderful music of Dylan Perrillo Orchestra which was kinda like Russian, Polish or Oompah band different but fun but they did play more up to date tunes too. Just a great time! As the clock struck the 7th hour the doors to the enormous dining room all decorated similarly in Mardi Gras regalia. There had to be about 500 people attending so I rushed back to the the rear to snag one of the few tables in the back of the room. We were lucky to join two very nice people at their table to enjoy the delicious buffet supplied by Hatti's Restaurant, 45 Phila Street, Saratoga Springs and the famous chef Jasper Alexander. The music Soul Session began the dancers danced, the energy heightened and the music soared... Party Time! Thanks to Dan, Albany Yelp Ambassador, Hattie's Restaurant and the Canfield Casino for such a fun evening!

Christina, who helped me arrange everything, felt like she was my sister. She was empathetic and compassionate to our situation. The lunch boxes for the following day were delicious, even though they were 24 hrs old. The sandwiches were fresh!! I was concerned about "chef's" choice of sandwiches, but each were incredibly delicious! The lasagna is out of this world!! Fruit salad is fresh and perfectly ripe. My only "suggestion," that nobody asked for, lol, is adding real veggies to the quiche. Chunks of broccoli, peppers, onions, etc., would have been tasty. Overall, the food was EXCELLENT, Christina and the kind gentleman who delivered everything were calming, trustworthy and empathetic. They were outstanding for a somber, sad event. Luckily for the folks opening Classic Crust at the prior location of the old Jonesville Store…read moreduring the "pause" for the coronavirus pandemic, they have their mobile pizza oven to park in the lot of their future bricks and mortar location. And while renovations are proceeding inside the building, we the customers still have the ability to enjoy some very good woodfired pizza. From their menu of over a dozen specialty 12 inch pizzas we decided to try a Sausage, Peppers & Onions ($13) and a Fuji Apple & Brie with honey butter thyme drizzle ($16). We figured the SP&O would allow a fair comparison to more typical pizzas while the FA&B would show their ability to improvise. The dough is good quality, tasty and has a nice chew. I might consider requesting future pizzas to be left in the oven just a little longer to get more char and blistering, but that's a very minor point. The sausage has a nice flavor and the peppers and onions are grilled/sautéed for a nice effect. The only downside for me on this pizza was that the peppers had an off flavor of being cooked over gas. The honey butter thyme drizzle obviously adds an additional sweetness to the thin sliced Fujis and it might be considered by some to be a dessert pizza. But the balance of sweetness is just right in my opinion and the drizzle creates a nice glaze as the pizza cools. I'm truly looking forward to when the "pause" will end and Classic Crust will be able to allow customers inside their non-mobile location.

First let me say I see myself as a BBQ carnosaur. I've had BBQ all over the world. KPs pulled pork had the most flavor I have ever tasted. The buns were deli style which was a great touch. All the salads and sides were a great hit. All the guests asked if they could take some home. I now am looking for an excuse to hire him again. From the first call to the handshake and thank you at the end of our event I couldn't be happier. Very professional, clean and friendly. Price is very very competitive. Linens were clean as they come. Prices I guess were reasonable. I picked up so I can't speak to delivery or setup. Loses one star for hard to get to hours.

The online brochure states prices from 2006 (9 years ago!), and we didn't know this until after we met in person at the store and had someone survey our venue. When we pointed out that the new prices are 1.5-2x the online prices, they were not flexible or apologetic. 100% of their business is renting out the items on the brochure, so for them to "not realize this" for almost a decade is obviously a lure to get the customer's foot in the door. Finally, we had to remove about half the items on the invoice that they randomly added on for reasons unknown. When we asked to remove tent walls, their response was pretty much, "we will just keep it on the bill in case it rains. Check the weather and let us know by Monday if you don't need it." Of course this was the busiest week of our lives and we didn't let them know by Monday, since we had already in our minds let them know, but still they would not refund the items that never made it off the truck. Not exactly sure what all that money paid for... If you have an unlimited budget, you'll be happy with the quality of their items. However, if you care about bait and switch practices and company honesty, please don't use Clifton Park Rental. If we weren't planning this last minute, and literally had no other option (trust me, I called around), we would have dropped them the minute they charged us double what was quoted.
