Arrived here from Barcelona and was impressed at how easy it was to disembark and get through the main lobby of the station and out to the parking area where I got my Uber to go to the hotel. When departing Seville, arrived at the station about 45 minutes early and about 30 minutes before scheduled departure, they announced the gate for the train to Madrid and very effectively herded all the passengers down the ramps to the trains. Note here that security scanning of bags took place on the platform itself. In Barcelona, you scanned your bag before entering the waiting area. The station was very clean, staff was helpful, there were plenty of shops to get food, drink or souvenirs. Definitely one of my top 10 favorite train stations!

The small station is located northeast of the major attractions e.g. the New Bridge and the Bull Ring. We went straight out of the station and walked along the Nida Martinez Astein perpendicular to station on Av Andalusia; turned right on Avenida de Malaga; all the way to the end to reach our two primary attractions we came to see. There is a tourist info center right there. Touring done by 1300. With plenty of time to spare we stopped at a nice, casual restaurant called Las Maravillas for coffee beer and salad. Thinking there's an earlier train to Malaga (nada!) we returned to the station by 1420 and ended up drinking more beer and coffee to while away time before we could board the train. We noted the bus station and a supermarket (bottled water) are a short walk to the right when you exit the train station. Perhaps buses may have great scheduling flexibility. Or wander around to visit more sights.

This is a new (built in 2007) modern looking clean station with many shops and restaurants on the…read moresecond floor. It's located right next to Malaga main bus station. Later we learned on a rainy day there'd an underground pass linking the these two day trip transportation hubs. Taxi stand is right outside. Cab fare to our AC hotel was 6-8e. The second day after our arrival we walked safely and leisurely here in 20 minutes to catch an early morning train to Ronda for a day trip. Then a day trip to Granada the next day and finally took bus to Marbella after having breakfast here. We spent our last night here eating fast food because of the pouring rain outside. Took cab back to hotel after a long tiring day. It was a big part of our Malaga stay.

The station has changed with the times but still, some things don't change at all. Now, speaking of the other things.... be sure to pack some food with you because the cafeteria - as others have mentioned - leaves a lot to be desired. I ordered a cafe but with nobody else at the counter, one slow middle-aged man who swept the whole cafeteria, or at least tried to, and took his time in doing so. Afterwards, finally found some time to make my cafe without even washing his hands at all after sweeping!!! Health dept of Jerez you NEED to watch this guy!! I saw later that this same man still didn't wash his hands after sweeping, and when another client came in and ordered a sandwich, he made that sandwich with his unwashed bare fingers!! NO wifi gratis when I was last there. As I mentioned: the building is gorgeous!! The bus station is across the street, practically 128 feet away!
