Dawn took over beginning with the visitation and was the model of care and efficiency, making sure all things were taken care of quickly. Even with a major foul up with the cemetery (see my review for Grandview Memorial Gardens), Dawn didn't blink an eye, but adapted calmly and made sure that was taken care of properly. It is never an easy time with losing a loved one, but I was certainly impressed that my worries did not extend to the arrangements my father had pre-planned with this professional organization.

My husband was Jewish, and it is Jewish custom to scatter earth on the coffin with a shovel. This…read morerequires a pile of soil and some shovels at the gravesite, which the cemetery was asked to provide in advance. However, when we arrived for the burial, the dirt and the shovels were not there, and his service was interrupted while the cemetery staff brought a truck of dirt to the site. We had to shovel the dirt from the back of the truck onto the coffin rather than a mound of earth as we expected. This was a very unfortunate circumstance for us to wait a long time at the open gravesite. His burial was on February 17th. A few days ago, my daughters and I visited the site. There was garbage all along the back of the cemetery, which is only a few feet from my husband's gravesite, and the whole area stunk like sewage. The smell was so bad, we had to leave. I attempted to call the cemetery to ask them to clean up the area and find out what is causing the horrible smell, but after ringing several times, the phone directed me to enter my mailbox number, which, of course, I do not have. Several years ago, when my father was buried there, this same cemetery had buried someone else in his burial plot. We were told we had two choices: dig up the person they had buried there by mistake or choose a different spot. Of course, we chose not to dig up the other person. I have a spot next to my husband. If he weren't already buried there, I would choose a different cemetery. I hope the cemetery at least reads this review and cleans up the garbage and addresses the smell.

Sadly, when I was able to visit last week, I found a graveyard in disrepair with headstones in strange positions. When I parked, with an eye to walking the vicinity, I noted that several tombstones were facing one another, and I have to admit I have never seen that, despite visiting many cemeteries through the years. Some of the stones appeared to have been lined up in the past, but the ground must have shifted because they weren't in a straight line anymore. We inquired shortly after the first of the year and were told there was a problem with the vendor. As of today there is STILL no engraving.
