House payments would be combined with no interest loans provided by supporters which would then be used to build more homes. In 1973, the Fullers took their house building concept to Zaire where they worked for three years. They then returned to the United States and founded Habitat for Humanity International in 1976. President Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalynn became involved and raised awareness. Habitat is now in all 50 states in the U.S. and in more than 70 countries. They have helped 29 million people be able to afford safe shelter. In 1991 Habitat for Humanity launched the concept of the ReStore in Winnipeg, Canada. In 1992 the first Habitat for Humanity restore opened in the U.S. in Austin Texas. The ReStores accept donations from the community and home improvement stores and then resells the items to the public at a discounted price. The profit from the ReStore supports the local Habitat for Humanity affiliate. This store in Palm Bay is part of the Space Coast Habitat for Humanity. They have helped 575 families in 37 years and they are designated as a Veteran Build affiliate serving the veterans in the community. They support programs for home ownership and home preservation through zero-interest mortgages, volunteer labor, and community support. I love supporting Habitat for Humanity and stop in the thrift stores whenever I can. This store was large and clean with a mixture of new and gently used items. They had furniture, home goods, home improvement items, and more. My favorite find was a vintage Capodimonte porcelain mirror vanity with perfume bottle. If you have any home improvement projects on the horizon, I encourage you to check them out.

Baer's "customer service" is nothing but "lip service." We will not buy here again, and you would…read morebe well advised not to shop here either. Do NOT make the mistake we made, in thinking that their inflated prices indicate they provide better service than stores with lower prices. They do NOT. If you have a problem with a product you purchase from them, they will not go to bat for you with the manufacturer. They will merely hand you off to the manufacturer and wash their hands of the matter. We purchased a king-size American Leather sleep sofa from Baer's, for almost $5,500. It was a special order, and we waited two months for the sleep sofa to arrive. It was delivered in late January, 2026. As soon as we lay down on the standard mattress, we were horrified to find it was not comfortable. Upon inspection, we found the design (the mattress frame and the cut of the mattress) had been changed and no longer provides support for the entire length of the bed. (We bought an American Leather sleep sofa, 10 years ago, and it is still very comfortable to sleep on.) We contacted Baer and they sent a "tech" out to inspect the sleep sofa. He took pictures and said they (Baer) were unaware of the design change, and that he could see it had changed. He wrote a report and assured us our problem would get an "executive" review and that we would hear from a Baer rep within 3-4 days. Two weeks passed and we heard from no one. So, we called and were assured, again, that a rep would call us back (by close of business, no less). Again, we heard from no one. The following day, we drove to Baer's and spoke with Bob, who was sympathetic and who assured us that American Leather stands behind their product. (BS!) Not only does American Leather not stand behind their product, Baer's doesn't either. They do not care whether a customer is unhappy or not. It appears they subscribe to P.T. Barnum's credo, "There's a sucker born every minute," and it appears their business is built on that. DON'T BE A SUCKER.

I have been waiting for three months now to get someone to come out to the house to order a $25.00 part and then we have to wait even more for the part. Meanwhile you can not use the recliner on a very expensive leather couch. Guardsmen farms it out to a third party and they suck, in my opinion!!!
