Update: 8/2024 as soon as it got hot flies took over the kitchen and living room infestation in the apartment. I quick complained Miranda said she was sending an exterminator ,.24 hours later no communication! No exterminator.. I called, emailed and texted.. NO RESPONSE a day later and as usual it was an email after hours. She never answers the phone. All communication was always via email . she (Miranda) sent me an email saying they are going to break the lease because they cannot make me happy. THEY MOVED ME IN AN DISGUSTING APARTMENT THAT WASNT READY ! It still had furniture, dishes and drinks in the refrigerator from the last tenants. I complained about everything . They got tried of me complaining and reporting things and decided to break the lease.. BUT THEY KNEW THEY WERE WRONG TO BREAK THE LEASE. Etc I'm so happy! This whole situation has been traumatic dealing with these people. Miranda will ignore your emails calls etc . The neighbors said the same thing . I honestly feel like I was discriminated against. Never use this company. This company has one man who owns and supposedly manages the properties. We have had nothing buy, problems since day one on a one year lease. This man is dishonest and crooked. This man kept my deposit of $1150.00 on a property that was paid in full under a one year lease. Upon moving in we had the furnace go put in the dead of winter, doors and windows were not sealed and rain poured in with water damage and carpets molded along with 4 inch worms in the masses coming in through the exposed areas that were never sealed or maintained and these creepy crawlers filled the carpet, kitchen, hall's and beds we slept in. We had centipedes falling from the ceiling coming in from the attic that was full of squirmed from faucet outside that was torn up and never repaired. The bathroom downstairs leaked through the attic entrance above the toilet and would fill the electrical junction box and cause the breaker to trip repeatedly so we would be left without lights until the water dried up. The upstairs bathroom leaked through to the downstairs bathroom so of you sat on the toilet and someone took a bath and drained the dirty water would pour on your head. We reported this to management James the one man clown shop and he never did anything about it and left us to live in the horrible conditions he rented to us. At month four and worms crawling in my sheets I said no more this is it and moved out two months later after finding another home and paid the full lease in full and left the property vacant and returned the keys. The clown said he would send the deposit at the end of the lease and never did when I called and asked where is it? He replied through text he sent me a letter saying he kept it for cleaning the carpets even though it was due to their water problems? He then text me and said the owner of the property kept the deposit but, the check wasn't made out to the owner it was made out to the clown shop renters 1st choice!!! So, there again he thinks he can be deceitful and fool people like himself the fool!!! Save yourself a headache and never rent from or hire this man / clown to manage your properties as he is useless in both areas!!!!!

We moved across the country on June 4, six weeks after reporting the issue, and the gas leak was still ongoing. A contractor later told us the levels were severe enough that we were fortunate a major incident had not occurred. The owner's contractor also improperly replaced the gas line with an undersized one, according to Spire, and I was the person contacting Spire throughout the process. They let me know that the pipe the contractor replaced was 1/4th inch too small and could lead to carbon monoxide or gas buildup in the lines. During the nine months we lived there, two additional gas leaks occurred in other areas of the system. After spending over $10,000 to move and paying rent for May while the house sat vacant, Stephanie Olsen told me over the phone that "this isn't working out" and that we would need to find another place if we continued being "ungrateful." We ultimately moved out early after 10 months, and paid April 2026 rent while the property was vacant and we were in a new rental. The house itself had numerous issues: filthy vents filled with years of dust and mold, insect infestations (basement had roaches, beetles and grasshoppers) requiring extermination, and a failing sump pump system with drain flies that contributed to a very strong basement odor. The home was at times uninhabitable due to the gas smell, causing headaches and dizziness for both me and my Mom, and we paid out of pocket for hotel stays. This experience was emotionally and financially exhausting. After being threatened with eviction, do you really think I felt comfortable reporting every issue with the house? Of course not. So we financially covered multiple issues due to fear of retaliation.

( fire department had no record) We moved from across the country on June 4th . The gas leak was ongoing. The contractor hired by the owner was incompetent and replaced the gas line with too small of a line per spire. And I'm the one who contacted spire every time . We went on to have 2 more gas leaks in the 9 months we lived in this home . At other areas of the gas system. Stephanie Olsen definitely threatened to let me out of my lease in June when we spoke on the phone after I had just spent $8,000 dollars and payed rent for May( while the house was vacant). And no one would be happy with this situation. We left early and payed for April of this year while the house was vacant. This company and the homes owner were awful. Stephanie literally screamed at me and threatened to evict me on the phone until I was in tears. The house was literally inhabitable due to the extremely strong smell of gas, which was causing headaches and dizziness for me and my son. We paid to stay in a hotel. The vents were filthy with dust and mold that had not been cleaned for years. We had to pay for an exterminator due to a hornet and grasshopper infestation, a plumber for a failing sump pit motor infested with drain flies / worms, which also contributed to the basement odor. The list goes on but my point is - this was a nightmare both emotionally and financially for us. Do you really think I'm going to report every issue wrong with the home after I was threatened with eviction? Obviously not.

I texted to let her know I was there, and she replied, she had a 'scheduling conflict' could we reschedule. Sure, we rescheduled, and I ended up seeing the unit along with another prospective renter. Was VERY INTERESTED in the unit and asked could we do another quick showing before i submitted the application. Long story short.....had to reach out to her numerous times to get a reply and was told I had to have an approved application before I could see the unit again, (which made no sense) and that she was very busy! SO UNPROFESSIONAL. I'm glad I dodged a bullet. if you see a unit with that's she's tied to, GOOD LUCK!!!...

Okay, so I want to leave an honest, but constructive review for the select leasing and management…read moreteam: I've been a tenant with them for just about two years (same property each year), and for the most part, mine and my roommates experiences as tenants have been relatively average. We love our place, it's in a safe neighborhood and our rent and utilities are very reasonable. Street parking has also never been particularly difficult. However, we've had two, significant problems with Select Leasing over the past 48 months: incredibly spotty communication with their staff and abysmal timeliness concerned with maintenance requests and repair. I'm breaking it down by person: Joe Kelso: Getting this man on the phone is like seeing the pot of gold at the end of a rainbow, next to impossible. I get the glaring impression this man is busy/in over his head, and probably inundated with calls from tenants on a regular basis about one issue or another. However, I wouldn't consider any of these issues enough of an excuse to not respond to tenants on a timely basis. As the property manager for select leasing, I had better expectations of him to respond to my calls or voicemails about maintenance, but I was often left waiting for days and sometimes weeks to get a reply from him. I want to assume he always means well, but he clearly needs an additional assistant to field his calls to help tenants more regularly. Kristina Hodges: I've worked with Kristina several times over the past two years concerning several different maintenance repairs we've needed at our loft. I've never met a person who lives and breathes by the philosophy of "brutal honesty" as much as her. She's very straight, to-the-point, no-bedside manners type of professional individual. The cons of working with her is that if you consider yourself an emotionally vulnerable, non-confrontational, soft person......Kristina's attitude is not for you. Then again, if I was in Kristina's position, also dealing with tenants day in and day out about a plethora of problems, I might have an attitude problem just like her. She's not for the weak-hearted when it comes to handling anything with her, so guard your loins every time you prepare yourself for a phone conversation with her. Rosie Cortez and James the maintenance man: These two are godsends. James is so friendly, knowledgable and tentative when it comes to helping with any minor to moderate repairs around our loft. He is patient and willing to work with tenants to help them with whatever they need. Bless him. Rosie is also great, she picks up the phone more than anyone else who works at Select Leasing. Rosie, please never quit...

DO NOT RENT FROM CENTURY GROUP…read more This company is trying to charge me for damages that I did not create. I moved out of my apartment at McKenzie Place apartments June 30, 2024 and have lived there since December 13, 2019. I had a move out inspection in which the property manager took photos. They said that I owed them $2,050.00 for a variety of charges that were things that I didn't do. When I tried to refute the charges via email they sent me back pictures of NOT MY APARTMENT. I will use the bathroom as an example: one of the pictures is a picture of my bathtub "before I moved in" and there is another picture they sent me of my move out bathtub. In one picture the toilet has a flusher on the front of the toilet, my toilet has a flusher on the side that you can see in a photo of my toilet. The toilet in the first photo also has round edges, my toilet had divots on the edges as you can see in the photo if you look in the bottom right corner. I have never had my toilet changed the entire time I was living there and the toilet had been used before I got there. I have also NEVER had a shower head that was detachable, the shower head has also been a non-movable shower head since we moved in. This company will lie in order to get the most money out of you possible and they serve low income individuals. They are trying to scam with photos of an apartment that is not mine to keep my deposit and pay $890.00 so they can fix up the apartment on my dime. If they would allow people to post photos on these I would love to post this discrepancy so people can see how they're trying to defraud people with these move outs.
