As an owner, DON'T! Their payment portal was unreliable, resulting in missed payments from the tenant. The tenant let them know of repairs needed, they never notified me or repaired them, resulting in damage to my home. I gave them written notice of plan to evict due to non payment and told them specifically not to accept small partial payments, they did anyway. They then disappeared when I needed information for collections. I ended up handling everything myself, repairs, collections, and communicating directly with tenants. It created more work. I will try to get my money back, but that's another long complicated process. STAY AWAY! read more

Where is the rating for zero stars? Horrible organization. Jon Ortner with corporate, family member of Kevin Ortner, President/CEO; Dani Bucholtz, Charlotte Sales Director and Felicia Brower, Charlotte Real Estate Advisor, along with the landlords they represent are slum lords. Our daughter and two of her roommates had few options to rent near Wake Forest University during the pandemic when kids needed to move off campus. They contacted RW about two properties for weeks. Both properties were well located near the University but in horrible condition including signs in front of one for violations from the city. RW reps were very slow to respond if they did at all. Weeks passed. Houses on/off market. Then RW suddenly rented the house my daughter wanted to someone else. She looked at the other house, which falsely advertised the number of bedrooms, needed LOTS of work and was way overpriced. But college kids needed a place. So they ultimately rented this house. Both RW and ownership group are absentee and it's obvious that neither came to inspect or maintain the house. They hired a cleaning crew that my daughter observed was there and told Felicia, to her surprise. Felicia was asking our daughter to be the local arms and legs for notifying who was at the house prior to rental, dealing with lockbox, etc. Once lease was signed, RW wouldn't give them keys without the kids overnighting bank checks - contrary to the lease. The kids folded. They got keys, started living there expecting RW and ownership to come do obvious maintenance and repairs that they hadn't bothered to check out themselves but the kids would give them a list. They found roaches, ants, spiders, hornets nests, 2 eyes staring back at them behind the vent, holes in interior walls and wide open exterior crawlspace to any animal interested back in this weed infested/overgrown/garbage strewn lot, maggots in garbage can, gutters missing and broken and full of weeds, cracked windows, electrical and wiring issues, plumbing issues, fire safety issues, no smoke detectors in bedrooms with windows that do not open, etc. Numerous code issues that could be fixed but they wouldn't. Jon Ortner signed the lease on behalf of RW and is unresponsive. Felicia and Dani are unresponsive to issues with the house but claim the kids rented the house "as is" which does not agree with the lease language, prior discussions and written exchanges nor with municipal or state laws. The kids need a place to live for school but cannot even stay there until extermination is performed and repairs are made, which they are forced to hire and handle themselves because RW and landlords are unresponsive. Word is that prior WFU student tenants moved out early due to vermin infestation and other issues with the house. No surprise.We are filing complaints with BBB, writing reviews and spreading the word among other steps. It's been a months now yet RW and owners have said they are going to fix some items but have done zero. The city has now inspected the premises and has found numerous violations including a number of violations making the premises "unfit." Photos of letter are shown. read more

Renter's Warehouse is a horrible organization. They do everything possible to abuse and harass their tenants in order to avoid doing their jobs. They have rented multiple properties in Winston Salem to students for several years that have dozens of code violations. Dani Bucholtz and Felicia Brower, employees of the Charlotte office, refused to address the issues when notified and claimed it was not their responsibility to fix since the house had been rented in "as-is" condition. They know that is not the case, code violations evident before move-in are ALWAYS the landlord's responsibility, but hoped to bully me into accepting the horrid conditions. Code violations include front doors that do not lock or close properly, 25 windows that do not open or lock properly and are not weather tight, missing weather stripping and insulation, broken glass and trash throughout the yard, roach and rat infestations, no working heat and faulty AC, and more. They have stalled in repairing the property for over a month and a half while continuing to demand rent, an action that is considered unfair and deceptive business practice. Among other issues, without working heat or insulation, the temperature in the house dropped nearly 10 degrees overnight and remained frigidly cold for over a week. Renter's Warehouse claimed it was not "cold enough" to warrant promptly addressing the issue. They have no property managers in the Charlotte office so their headquarters abuse their tenants as de facto property managers in order to avoid investing in the work themselves. I had limited options for renting due to the pandemic and sincerely regret renting with Renter's Warehouse. They have done nothing but abuse me as a student renter and have left me without options and without habitable living conditions. Avoid this company and their employees at ALL costs. read more

$1600 upfront then 119 a month there after. This seems like a good deal until we couldn't vet the potential tenets thoroughly. we were fortunate to get excellent tenants but then the problem started with a maintenance issue within the first few days required them to call five times for assistance from a company called Blue Chip from Tampa Florida apparently they have one service rep in the Lexington NC area. That scammer Took eight hours and then knowing that the landlord has an arrangement through renters warehouse to pay maintenance under $400 without prior authorization scammed an additional 120 for a " plumbing inspection"!Supposedly they were no longer the preferred vendor for maintenance but that did not stop this enterprising Gypsy from slipping his scam in. I took my poor tenant five calls and eight hours of their day for this clown to fix a small leak to make matters worse Renters Warehouse corporate was equally lackluster!I would not recommend this for future landlord's you can pay a lot less for the same service offered and free advertising on Zillow running across criminal history check and credit check is a mere $10-$20. What you're paying for is a licensed realtor to walk people through and show the house but that's not $1600 worth of work. The ending is even better when attempting to receive a refund of remaining monies after firing them within two weeks the initial response was excellent but then corporate tried to drag their heels and hold the funds for an additional 30 days would only took two minutes to create! The local response was great in the beginning but then the manager Dani stopped responding to email And text inquiries as to where the funds were supposedly the VP of operations was authorizing a rapid refund. I wonder what the attorney generals office of NC will think if they were to review the billing practices of blue-chip and the accounting department of Renters Warehouse as far as performing "Inspections" when the contract stipulates repairs? One Landlord $320 is one thing if and only if it turns out to be dozens or hundreds of repairs with such perks added to the bill while staying under the firewall of $400 may be construed as a criminal enterprise after all these funds are only disbursed when the billing is consistent with the legal agreement between the landlord and Renters Warehouse. Blue chip in Florida refuses to release pictures and notes to the landowner even though they paid for it citing that Renters Warehouse is the purchaser of those documents again I will look forward to see what the attorney general consumer protection division has to say. 2/20/20 read more
