My experience started off okay with this place. The instructors that preached about how you are family once you join so I liked that. A few months into my contract training here, I sustained a few injuries training with my Army platoon. They were significant injuries to my wrist and ankles. My wrist required surgery/physical therapy and my ankles required just physical therapy. I brought in doctor note after doctor note proving I could not train for a while. According to the staff at this place my injuries with doctor notes still weren't enough to stop monthly payments. They know nothing about family. They are a classless staff that showed me they care about those paying the bills. I highly recommend looking into any other mixed martial arts places in the area. read more

You know that feeling after working out when your body aches...in a good way? Two days later and I'm still feeling it! My husband and I "kicked" off the new year by signing up for the trial month. Our first class was with Christina and we'll be going back for sure! The class was lively and upbeat. The workout was constantly changing, but Christina's instructions were clear and thorough and I never felt lost for a second. She constantly came around and checked in with us, encouraged us, and pushed us. I loved it! Unlike large gym "cardio kickboxing" classes, this wasn't Jazercise with punches; the class used the heavy bags and pads and stressed proper form which left me leaving empowered and satisfied with my workout. My FitBit estimated I burned the same calories as a 45 minute run. I'll be back! read more

Back in November of 2008, I was involved in an altercation at a night club that thankfully ended in my favor. With no martial arts/ self defense training I was lucky enough to defend myself enough to walk away unscathed BUT the reality sunk inI did not know how to protect myself. After trying out several gyms, I finally decided on Team Renzo Gracie Denville/RWMMA. The hardest part was walking through the door of a new gym BUT George Sernack and his staff welcomed me as a new member to their family. My original intent for joining Brazilian Jiu Jitsu was to lose weight while learning to protect myself. At the time, I was a recent college graduate that was weighing in around 200 lbs and I felt that something had to change. I committed myself to a good training regimen and within 2 months of solid training, I entered my first Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournament as a white belt. My weight class was 160-169!! I had lost 31 lbs within 2 months! I won my first match which boosted my confidence tremendously and proved that I chose the right academy to train at. From then on I was determined to compete to the best of my ability and wound up taking home several medals and awards. In January of 2010 I had achieved what I never thought was possiblea blue belt in Renzo Gracie Jiu Jitsu! Having no prior martial arts experience, this was my first belt promotion and therefore was the best moment of my life! I promote the art to this day because it literally changed my life. read more

I would look at a different place if you are older and want something more laid back. The staff are great at what they do - no doubt. They would get 5 stars for this if this was the ONLY thing to measure. Great for kids if you want them to get great instruction. However, my husband got injured skiing and had signed a contact that they would not let him out of. So you don't get harassed like we did, I would go month to month. I called left several messages for George and he never called back. I paid several months after requesting a freeze - never happened. Per policy, I sent a letter and this was never acknowledged. Several years later, they now have some two bit overseas (i think India) collection agency calling. Not the best business idea when I live near by and talk abt this experience with fiends. Not to mention, I have a kid that wants to join a gym now who's 7. He goes to new gym we found. Long story short great gym/staff but be warned if you want leave. read more
