They also kept in contact with her to let her know that the car was delivered and the keys were placed in the drop box. Most older Volvos can have their keys programmed by a third-party locksmith--it's hit or miss depending on the model. Newer Volvos, typically 2015 and up, absolutely require dealership access to program keys, which can cost several hundred dollars. I called around to about 10 other locksmiths, and none of them wanted to touch the Volvo. Eli, on the other hand, immediately said, "I'll give it a shot. I'll cut the key, and if it doesn't work, I won't charge you." He showed up on time, was communicative, polite, and professional. Although the key couldn't be programmed to the car (a known challenge with some Volvos), he still managed to cut the exact key I needed--and left a great impression.
