I've been trying to cancel service for 3 weeks. Hours on the phone, only to be sent from one person to another. Was finally sent to an account manager- who was supposed to be able to cancel. Now all the person does is demand to know what I am paying new service (half the price of Republic Services!) and argue to "save my business." I just want it cancelled!!! Ridiculous. Absolutely worst company ever!!! We have been with them over 10 years!! Within the last couple months they have been running later and be a day late, but now they don't even come by! We called them about a missed pickup and they said "oh we are sorry we will escalate this issue and it will be picked up in two days; didn't show!!! Republic trash just raised its' rate from$107.57 to $124.98 for three months. I have found a lower cost provider, but Republic wants $50 to remove the trash container. Trying to contact them took an hour. Queen City offers a much lower rate. read more

I have been a customer of this service for over 15 yrs. I am being forced to pay for environmental services which I have no idea are and fuel. Thought that these things would and should be included in a basic charge, but has changed over the yrs. The phone service is a joke as they pass it off from one customer service person to another and you wind up telling your problem to 4 different people and then you get a disconnect. At this point I am pissed and would tell them to shove it where the sun don't shine. I am a valued and grandfathered in customer as well as elderly they keep trying to bully me by changing my original start date with them with this crap, when no one else is doing the same as far as this environmental and fuel charge crap. I would refer you to a company that has a basic fee if they need to change because of fuel or because of national employment rates so be it, but stop chagrining us just for bs read more

This company is a joke. If you only read one part of this review then here it is....STAY AWAY! They raise prices out of nowhere and are $80 more than other places (2 carts for 3 months). I called to get a reason for the price increase and was told "it's just part of our invoice increase". I asked for a reason and was told that's just the way it is. I explained it's drastically gone up and they were about $80 more than other companies for two cans every 3 months. The operator said that's just what they charge and often raise prices. I got set up with Ozark Refuse for again, $80 less than Republic Services. Called Republic Services to cancel and they tried to see what they could do to drop the price and I told them no, I wanted to cancel. The operator told me I owed $195 for my bill. I explained that was a bill through September and I wasn't paying that and again to cancel my service. She advised per their policy they could only cancel accounts on the 30th of each month. She advised they would pick up their cans on the week of June 30th. She further advised I would receive a bill for their services for the month of June. I explained I was cancelling June 5th and would not be paying for the whole month. She again said I would be billed regardless and would be expected to pay the bill. She agreed to come and get their cans the following week but again stated I would owe them for June. I cannot express enough how bad of a company this place is and the way they treat their customers. It's been four weeks since they've pick up our trash. That's literally what they do and get paid for. I can call and talk to a person and every single time they say they don't know what happened, and they will schedule a next day pick up. It never happens. You can only forgive and forget so many times, but this is four consecutive weeks. How do you drop the ball this many times? As a small business owner, when a customer calls with an issue, I fix it immediately. After the third week and 4th call, I've hired a more local company who will tend to my needs. I haven't had any issues with Republic Services here in Springfield despite the negative reviews. They send out frequent updates to remind customers of service schedule changes due to holidays, and they haven't missed my house in the two years I've owned it. Their pricing is reasonable as well, and they bill me quarterly. Their website is also so user friendly even my dad can navigate it. read more

They missed out trash on Monday. Told several times it would be picked up 3 times now. Only one you can call is someone at home on their computer Nixa as can be, but no resolving the issue, my trash as I wrote this, as missed a second normal day pickup!!! I can't get ahold of them to do what they say they are going to do. I can't even cancel them bc no one is helping me at all. All talk no DO. Based on our family's experiences with this company over the last year, in my opinion, this could possibly be the worst trash company in America. If I could give this company zero stars I would. If they miss your pick up, which they will -many times, even if you have your trash out at the right time you can call until you are blue in the face every day and they will not come back for a courtesy pick up even if it's their fault. You'll have to beg for the credit to your account from their mistake. The customer service people are nice and many expressed their own frustration with me on the phone that they themselves could not get a hold of dispatch or get anything done for the customers they represent. If I could give them less than 1 star I would. My roommate and I have had service with them since March and our trash has been picked up 3 whole times. I've called incessantly and been "guaranteed" (verbatim) my trash would be picked up. but alas I still have a disgusting, now maggot filled trash pile in front of my home because I keep getting promised it'll be taken care of that afternoon or the following day. It's absolutely laughable and a waste of money unless you're a fan of living in squalor. I, personally, am not, and feel pretty screwed over and brushed aside. Spend your money literally anywhere else. Pay a small, legless child to take your trash to the dump one piece at a time, in the rain. Less trustworthy business practices than a used car dealer. My bill had nearly doubled in just a couple years of service and I had to cancel. They would raise the rate almost every billing cycle, until you called to ask about it, then they would lower it back, only to raise it again the very next cycle. Even when fuel prices went down the fuel charge never did, but if prices went up a cent then you could be sure you'd know about it on the next bill. I kept setting limits with my bank on the auto pay and Republic service kept exceeding them, thankfully I did, so I knew every time that had raised their bills another $$. Do yourself a favor and set limits if you have it on autopay. They will keep raising and raising your bill until you notice, actually the best advice is to get just another service, otherwise you will find eventually yourself paying way more than what you would pay any other company in town. After I cancelled I was still receiving bills for months afterwards, each with its own administrative fee. Yes, there is a charge for the privilege of being sent a bill. They somehow they managed to send me three separate bills spread out for months after my last pickup, each with its own full administrative fee tacked on. In my opinion, they spread it out to collect an extra $$ in administrative fees before they would finally release their moneysucking fangs from my neck. Do not get involved with this company, they will wring every nickel they can out of you and they don't like to let go. read more

They didn't pick up due to "weather" we only had one day of non drivable roads. i received an automated call that said they would be doing double pick ups the next week. Did they....NO!!! I called because my recycling was overflowing badly. I called three times, NO RESOLUTION, just the same smoke being blown up my skirt and nothing actually being done. We were moving, so I scheduled the end of service, and they stopped picking up trash that week.. even though I paid through the end of the month and scheduled the bin pick up for a week after that. I called for a missed pickup, they promised they'd schedule an extra pickup within a few days. Nada. They missed another week, I called again and they promised they'd schedule a pickup for Monday. Nope. I call again. I'm waiting on a callback, but even if they promise another pickup, can I trust them anymore?? At this point, the new owners are about to take possession of the house and I will have to figure out how to remove almost 3-week-old trash myself. read more

Alas, all good things must come to an end; it is time to face the grim reality that the waste company we have used forever is disintegrating into a shell of its former self. Please understand that this is no reflection on the folks who drive the trucks- they have a tough job, long hours, and they hustle. If the warning signs are there, and you either fail to recognize them, or worse yet, ignore them, then you are setting yourself up for difficult times involving overflowing garbage and high blood pressure. Use me as the example, then. Over the course of the last couple years we have experienced increasing missed service pickups, combined with large bill increases, billing errors, and let's not forget the most telling of all; ignored messages- avoiding customers. Yes, I have heard the argument; "we charge by volume, not frequency of pickup". Unfortunately, we are not being provided the container volume to accommodate 2 weeks worth of trash. These new, more frequent, "skipped" service pickups translate into lower expenses for Republic Services. With regard to the website; not to be rude or anything, but I don't care what the board of directors look like- I want my trash picked up; show me how to accomplish that.... And if you are going to take "unscheduled holidays", or the truck breaks down, or there is some other unforeseen problem, the right thing to do is notify those who are going to be affected. read more

Have spoken several times over Twitter with corporate and been promised pick up on 6/27 and again on 7/5. This company is a joke. My existing trash cart had developed some cracks, so it was exchanged. The cart that was delivered has a very large slot on the top . Possibly for papers or envelopes? It also has some kind of locking device on the lid. When it rains the cart holds quite a bit of water! When I drop my trashbags in, it splashes Nasty water . It stinks! It's also drawing alot of flies and yellow jackets. I have been stung several times. I have called the office for it to be exchanged for another cart THREE times. They told me each time that it would be exchanged the next week. It hasn't. The service is very poor, and now this. read more

Use ANYone else! I'm replacing the tile in one of my bathrooms and the installer wanted a dumpster here so I scheduled that with Republic. I only needed it for a day or two but they insisted on writing it up as a 30 day contract that's going to run me over $1000. This was on a Thursday, 8/17. The earliest they could deliver it was the following Wednesday, the 23rd. So she emailed me the contract; I signed and returned it. They charged me a $705.67 deposit. The next day, she emailed me another contract because she made a mistake on the first. I signed and returned that one. Got another email confirming it had been received. Delivery day came, no dumpster, so the installer just hauled the debris out and piled it up on my driveway. Contacted Republic midday, no response. Tile guy ran out of waste buckets so had to leave early. Contacted Republic again. At 5:01, she responded she had sent me a revised contract that I needed to sign and return. I told her I had sent it back FIVE DAYS AGO. Took her 2 minutes but she found it and said she'd send the dumpster out "tomorrow." Thursday came and went, no dumpster. This time she blamed it on her accidentally checking the weekly rate instead of monthly so she needed me to sign a THIRD version of the contract. They already had payment of over $700! They couldn't have just sent the dumpster? They're going to refund me for the unused days as it is. She assured me it would be here Friday. It wasn't. The installer was done with removing the old tile so left for the day. Then I got a call from the local Republic saying he heard I was interested in renting a dumpster and wanted to know "where I was with that." It was complete news to him that I'd signed 3 contracts and paid a deposit in excess of what the final charge will be. He said he'd try to get a dumpster here that day but, worst case, Monday. I HIGHLY recommend NOT using Republic Services for trash/waste/recycle services. Their prices may seem affordable at first, but there are many hidden fees, and their customer service continuously delivers misinformation. Want to recycle? GOOD LUCK. Republic Services failed to pick up my recycling for over a month and only took off $13 from a $90+ dollar bill. They've also picked up trash a day late or all together forgotten to service our residence. I was also told I would not be billed for my October bill, given I closed out my account in September. Well, I'm now on hold trying to get reimbursed and understand how I was charged. I called the company and they told me that my containers were scheduled for delivery on Sept 23rd because they had inventory shortages, lol. It would have been nice if they had told me that when the discovered that problem, right? But they were Like it's just normal and okay to wait TWO WEEKS AFTER ORDERING SERVICE before I get containers? They made it sound like no big deal. I had already paid them a 50 dollar deposit on Sept. 10th, and just this weekend, dated Sept 15th they have sent me a first month bill, without even receiving any containers OR service for 2 weeks? I've had my recycling bin out all month and have made multiple calls about the missed pick ups and I get the same response of-they'll come tomorrow or the next day. THEY NEVER DO. When we moved we wanted to try a different trash service. we only had them for one bill cycle when I realized we were way overcharged. We ordered 2 trash bins and they delivered them for $40. I thought that was strange because they advertised for $20. most companies don't charge anything. I looked close and saw they charged $20 for fuel and delivery fee for 1! so if it's dropped off at the same place and same time then why charge for 2 separate trips? we continue to use them having a deal I don't remember at the time it was pretty cheap. we get our first bill cycle and it was about $50-60 more than expected!! I called and they started telling me about all these fuel and fees and changes they just happen to make. I quickly quit using them and their customer service is awful. they said after canceling I would receive a refund on the unused that I paid. about two months go by and nothing. then I call and they explain they needed to charge me for the 2 bins again because they were damaged and full and after the rip off $40 I got like $1.78 back after paying like $130 for one month. this company should be investigate! Recycling didn't get picked up. We called and they told us it was delayed and to keep it out and it will be picked up the next day. Called back when it didn't get picked up and were told that they scheduled it and it will be picked up in 2 days. Called the day after it was supposed to be picked up, was on hold for 43 min and then sent to the survey without talking to someone. We'd been with this company for over 15 years and up until 2023 received good service. Then they started missing pickups and it just got worse and worse. At least once a month they didn't show for whatever reason. They'd apologize and say they'd send them out to get it but they never showed up. We finally gave up and cancelled service--after prepaying 3 months in advance. When I cancelled they acknowledged that they owed us a balance. We never received it. I have requested 3 times. The last email I got from them was 9 weeks ago and they said I should receive a check by mail within 6-8 weeks. In all the years we used them I'd never been late on a payment. Scheduled my can be delivered a week later and paid the deposit. . . the second call, made the first week into June. I was given in sorry and I would be expedited a can. -Mind you had cancelled other previous service already - by the last week of June, no can, got my first bill. I was upset. Called again. was given I'm sorry and assured I'd be expedited a new can... finally second week of July- no can. got a pay due bill notice! Now I'm livid. They raised my rates and now they wont pickup my trash. It's Friday and my trash was supposed to be pickup. I call the office and got the Phoenix customer service who stated my are was not affected by the Holiday schedule and my trash should d be pickup as usual. The Main office has now control over their employees, the employees so what ever they like knowing the company won't do anything about it. I was then told I have a confirmed pickup on the 3rd of January. I asked how can you confirm that when you can't even confirm this weeks pickup or why they never showed.
