This has been a great school for the last 20 years! I went to this school from 1991 to 1995. Having emigrated only 3 weeks before school started, I did not speak or understand much English at all, and I was placed in ESL classes. Thanks to great teachers and a caring and encouraging counselor (Mrs. McDonald), I was able to learn English fast, and transfer to the honors program starting 11th grade. I ended up taking AP English and Honors English 11 simultaneously in the 12th grade! I graduated taking all my A through G UC required classes, and got accepted into several UCs and Cal States. And once at UC San Diego, I was able to keep up and even graduate with honors with a major and two minors. And why did UCs want me, despite my low SAT verbal score? It was thanks to the abundance of clubs and activities that I was involved with at Reseda High. There were so many clubs at this school, you had your pick of several for each day of the week. And teachers encouraged students to join things, like a very active student cabinet, journalism, a second newsletter put out by ESL students for ESL students, a great drama program, cheer, flag, all sorts of sports teams, choir, band, 18 different clubs, volunteering opportunities such as planting trees on earth day, and more. My ESL teacher (Mrs. Worman) encouraged me and my best friend to run for office and join Student Cabinet, and I am so grateful that we did. We ended up becoming very involved with a whole lot of things, not knowing that colleges would like that, but because teacher after teacher made it feel good to be involved. And now, long after high school I have remained involved wherever I go, because I learned the value of being involved. This school was full of very caring teachers and office staff, who went out of their way to engage and teach students. The only staff members I did not like were one Spanish teacher who could not control her class (Mrs. Swanson?) and the college counselor (Mrs. Stanzberry). She stuck out, because she was not friendly and was intimidating. The rest of the teachers I had were fantastic, especially the ones in the social science department (especially Mr. Kaz and Dr. Shaffer) and the ESL department. Now, years later, I have tracked some of these teachers down via facebook and we have become facebook friends. I was shocked that they even remembered me 18 years later. They tell me that they remember most of their students. And they do! They remember distinct things about personalities of my classmates and cousins who went to the same school. (Meanwhile, for the few months that I attended Taft High school, 2 teachers didn't even take the time to properly learn my name then, and I couldn't tell you any of their names either cause they did not connect with me in any way.) The campus was beautiful, complete with its own little forest at one end, and clean. The kids were nice, and inclusive. My lunch group looked like a mini united nations, complete with two white guys and a white girl who hung out with us Persians, Rumanians, Armenian, El Salvadorians, Mexicans, and Russian! And others came and went, hanging out with different groups on different days as they pleased. Because of this, I got plenty of opportunity to practice my conversational English, and people marveled at how well I spoke English for the amount of time I had been in the US. This could be because in some schools the culture is such that different races self-segregate and recent immigrants end up together with others who are not fluent in English and fluent in a different language so they speak to each other in that language. Me? I don't speak Rumanian or Armenian or Russian or Spanish. The only way to communicate for my lunch group was English. And now the there is a magnet program on campus too, and I hear that it is wonderful. My cousins went through the magnet program and loved it. Interestingly, most of their teachers were the same as I had. And for the relatively low socioeconomic neighborhood full of recent immigrants, Reseda high and its magnet have unusually high test scores, college admissions, and scholarship recipients. I attribute it to the school culture and the attentive teachers and staff who go above and beyond to pull kids up and encourage them to explore different avenues and apply for all sorts of different opportunities. read more

A 12 year old girl died on Feb 25, 2026 because the school did not take bullying seriously. Her name was Khimberly and she was trying to help her older sister because she was also being bullied. I wonder who the teachers and principal are at this school. .... as caregivers they need to do better. read more

Had to give one because you can't leave zero. Graduated 2015, and loved my high school then. Called today and someone answers and doesnt say "hello" like a good receptionist would. When she picked up i hear "yea? Yes?" Im like hello good morning. Absolutely zero communication skills. Doesn't know anything at all. Can't answer a single question without saying "i dont know" and transferring me to someone who she knows wasn't there. My mother also has 0 nice things to say about the office people. No one knows anything, no one tries to help. What are the hiring requirements for? If they are Complete inepts. read more

My daughter has tried out for their cheer team three times and worked extremely hard each time. She has dark skin, and I've noticed that most of the girls on the team are white or very light-skinned. The only dark-skinned girls they seem to take are the ones who can already do advanced skills like backflips. I do not recommend this school or its cheer program at all. Unfortunately, my son attended this school from 2023 to 2025 for middle school, and it was a terrible experience. The school is disorganized, unprofessional, and lacks care for both students and parents. The Parent Center, run by Ms. Hernandez, was the worst I've encountered. My volunteer application was approved but no one informed me--for a year. Staff are rude, teachers use outdated methods, and they discourage parent involvement. Sadly, only families with limited options seem to tolerate it. do not take your kids here. read more

I'm a sophomore at Reseda High School, but seriously? Yondr pouches, terrible schedule, and even worse staff. If you want your child to hate school even more than they already do, choose this school because their staff WILL blame anyone but themselves. Their staff scream at students for being out of class, assuming the worst, and verbally assaulting students repeatedly, specifically women, for showing some skin, even though there is no more dress code! While walking to a class after the bell rung, they told me and around 15 other students to walk across the school to get a tardy pass for a class we can't even get marked late for! It's an athletics class and Ms. Trevino and the dean, Franco waste more time sending us back in the heat and with two bags! (it's an athletics class so we need to carry clothes or other things in a separate bag). This is just one example out of many!! It really feels like some sort of prison with this amount of dictatorship, I feel like school is the worst thing in this universe and it's all thanks to these people. However, I've made plenty of good memories on the volleyball team, and some of these teachers are really great, but that should be the bare minimum! step it up reseda. JEEZ read more

Recent grad (2024) from this school and there's up and downs. Firstly, the clubs here are amazing and there's actually a lot of programs where you can join. For example variety of sports, leadership (NJROTC, ASB, etc), magnets (Science - biomed, engineering, etc or PA), etc. You will fit it pretty quickly and make a lot of friends! Sadly, the school is run by lazy and ignorant administration. The counselors never do their job and always complain if you see them, principal was az (they just got a new one though so this regards to the previous one), other staff members simply don't care. Communication is also a downfall here, as many important things aren't announced on-time or at all. Teachers here are alright, some are good and bad but that's normal. Overall, this school was a nice experience because of the many programs and activities I did/joined, but the school needs a refresher and have staff members/administrators who are willing to their job. read more

This review is on Friday Night football games. The game this past weekend against Kennedy, it came to my attention that the volunteers need better training. We were charged at the door for two adults even though I came with my high schoolers who came with their student ID cards. They denied them access as students even though they had proof. Then to top it off gave me the wrong change. All of this goes against common sense but nevertheless, if you're going to have volunteers running, make sure they know what they're doing because I will not be going to another Reseda football game. read more

My hometown!!! But not my high school. The high school looks the same, since I was a kid it appears the same. I came here over the weekend for my nephews soccer game. They didn't play on the field only the baseball field...it was decent field to play on. read more

I should have posted this Reseda High School review back in 2017 but I will now.....My daughter is in Special Education Classes....She is Autistic and Non-Verbal...so when she is frustrated she will push someone to indicate she is upset...Now, I don't accept this behavior ( She has since grown out of that thankfully), My daughter LOVES school, and this was her FIRST year at Reseda High School, when my daughter pushed a student down at Reseda High School and I was called and informed that, not only are they going to suspend her (which they did)...but that they are calling Los Angeles Police Dept...and may file criminal charges. My daughter still watches Barney and Sesame Street and has No knowledge of her actions nor what Police really stand for...she knows "Firemen" and the truck and siren...but I was shocked when I heard that they have NO other way of handling this. I feel that the teacher was frustrated so he will left her behind to sit in an office for hours while the other children go on a field trip...so therefore she is annoyed again to have to sit in one place for 2+ hours ...but the threats from the Dean Franco and Special Ed? Mr. Springer...( both in capable of handling them their positions properly)...will call me daily with threats of what they are going to do to my daughter ...and now I'm uneasy I was told by her One-on-One Aide that they are being MEAN to her...They have changed her one on one aide person 4-5 times in one semester.....( Autistic children like consistency)....but no consistency and made her rake leaves for over an hour after she had just return to school from the Flu and Fever and it was Cold and Windy that day...as a matter of fact - The school Nurse just sent her home for a fever a few days earlier...and since she can't talk...she can't tell me...Her report card was straight A's...now Unsatisfactory....It could be your child...and most parents want to protect their child and hope the school would too. I called the Vice-Principal Mr. Perdigo. No reply... our children need direction... They told me "Maybe you should take her to another school"...because they don't want to deal with her. They want an easy pay-check. So I finally sued LA unified school district and won....they paid for private school for 8 years ....don't accept mediocre from these teachers that can't teach that just want to paycheck for the good ones that are out there "Thank you" for teaching my child...! read more

Reseda has one of the best campuses in the valley. It has a great, family like feeling, and offers over 20 AP classes! It has a spectacular academic program, and seniors here have been accepted to prestigious schools, such as Stanford and Harvard. Our sports programs are great as well, with football, softball and soccer making it into playoffs, while Wrestling, Swim, Track, and Cross Country going to City Finals as well. Wow bad service!!I asked for extra guac and they told me to sit down or I would get detention. And the food is terrible too! What a horrible presentation, serving it in a cardboard box. The atmosphere was unwelcoming and hectic, no ambience at all, where are the candles? I do not recommend this place. Try the Athenian Grill instead. read more

Reseda is a great school to send your child to!! Teachers care for the students, they have great clubs and extra curricular activities for students to be a part of and lots of staff and security to make sure your child is safe!! I definitely recommend Reseda High school! read more
