Amazing selection. Staff is quick and always willing to help. Best prices on 6-pack craft beer around the Brighton/Allston area. If I'm in the area and out of beer, I'll usually swing by and grab some Sam, Magic, or Long Trail. If I need something quick and cheap they also take credit card with no minimum! This is great if you're "That guy" and want to just pick up a Smirnoff nip for $1 and that's all you want to buy. Also, if you plan on going here with a fake I.D., DON'T! They can spot a fake a mile away and they will confiscate and put it on their big board with the others above the registers. If you're underage, don't bother even going here. You're wasting space for the other legal customers. All in all, a great liquor store! read more

Surprisingly good selection for a store most likely frequented to stock less-than-legal house parties. I love craft beer and cider and the selection here never disappoints. They also went above and beyond to make the wine selection organized and extensive. If you want it, they almost definitely have it. They also stock a very large humidor, cigarettes, and a small cheese and cured meat fridge. Their selection of mixers, potato chips, and garnishes (lemons, limes,etc) makes it a one stop shop. The staff is friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. They're eager to give great advice on wine and even a couple samples. It's a liquor store, but I'm always pleasantly surprised shopping here. read more

A STRONG word of warning for young 'uns out there - there are better places to go get your drink on, without getting your ID confiscated. Some are even right across the street. *cough* MaryAnn's *cough* Take one look behind the cash register, and see the wall of shame. Plenty of IDs, representing all the wonderful states of those great nation. Beer here is surprisingly cheap, especially for the "this is going to be a let's get fucked up kind of a night" beers (Read: Coors/Bud/Miller). The 24 packs of those beers are the same price as it is at larger retailers, like the Costco affiliated liquor stores nearby. There is a decent selection of what you need, and the staff tend to be friendly without overbearing. I guess it helps that 35% of their job seems to be ID checking. read more

I've been a patron at this liquor store for six years. It has always been a pleasure shopping here until today. I forgot a mask (new mandate, not every business is actually ebforcing it), and asked for one-- which the worker there gave me. I wen back home and realized I forgot the beer my girlfriend wanted, so I popped back down and again forgot a mask (again-- I wasn't opposed to wearing one. I just hadn't gotten in the habit of wearing one again since the mandate is so new). Lo and behold the woman behind the counter refused to give me another $0.20 mask since I had already gotten one from them, and expressed significant irritation that I had the audacity to ask for another one-- in an effort to respect their policy, telling me "I've been dealing this all day, and I'm sick of it." I've spent thousands of dollars at this place over the past six years and they've now lost my business to Chanksy's down the street because the employee behind the counter not only could not be bothered to spare an extra mask, but was incredivly disrespectful about it. I'd consider returning if she no longer worked there, but otherwise I'd advise people to go down the street to Chansky's where the customer service is better. read more

Compared to your typical liquor store, Reservoir is definitely the cheaper one around. I like the fact that it is considerably lower in prices and I have absolutely no idea how they do it, because they certainly are not Costco. And I'm also happy that they have more choices, simply because Costco can't carry everything in their tiny nook. And so Reservoir Wine & Spirits is on my list of places to go when I'm in the area and need a bottle of this or that. read more

Why am i writing a review for my local liquer store... Really only because they let my dog in the store and have dog biscuits to give out. Besides that, they have a good selection and normal prices. A decent selection of beer and whine, this store is obviously aimed at the main clientele: young college students. They do a decent job at that. My main problem with them is that they close at 6 PM on Sundays: that is just kinda lazy. At least there's Chansky's up the block and they sell beer late, even on Sundays. read more

Dear Reservoir, As a former student of BC I gladly tolerated your 10-20% price hike over all competitors because the BC bus stopped 2 blocks away from you. I dealt with a small selection, intentionally pricing down Busch Light and Natty Light so we would buy it and the occasional bouncing of my REAL ID. Now that I have graduated I'm afraid I must say adieu. We can still be friends, but lets stay in our respective boroughs. I'm sorry to say that I've met another store. It's right off of Storrow and ridiculously easy to get to. They even lower prices on alcohol they know we're going to buy for St. Patty's Day and Cinco de Mayo. Sadly you could never give that to me. This is a nice typical liquor store. Very convenient location Very very very cheap compared to other stores I have been to. They have a good selection of wine, including one of my favorite red wines, La Crema- for a decent price. It's pretty hard to find this wine just anywhere. Also, after drinking a $8 a glass Riesling at Fin's I have actually stopped by this place to keep the fun going, and finding the same Riesling for $10. Made me happy and I will continue to get my wine and spirits here. read more

Decent selection. Prices are average. Staff is nice. Unfortunately it's kind of an eyesore and a detriment to the community. I commute in this direction daily (and pop in to stock up every so often) and the only time the sidewalk isn't littered with receipts from the store, empty nips, cigarette butts, and random trash is in the winter when it's covered by snow. Pretty gross, especially when stores in either direction seem to keep their areas tidy. read more

Very nice selection of beers, wines and liquors. It's not a pretty place, but prices are good. I love their one line, no exceptions policy, which is strictly enforced. It's worth an extra star. Line can get long on Friday nights, but it moves quickly. Also, if you bring your dog with you they'll give him a treat! My dog now tries to pull me inside whenever we walk past. The wine selection is decent for such a small store, and the beer/hard cider selection is actually pretty good. However, the staff always seems pre-occupied doing something else and you have to interrupt to ask a questions. Prices are fair. Overall, an ok local place. read more

A bit overpriced, but its location means it gets basically all BC students. And even though I'm a total cheapskate and would normally give some place that isn't as cheap as I'd like 3 stars, their service wins me over. I'm always a little nervous at Reservoir -- we had a little incident where I was told that my very real ID was going to be confiscated -- but overall, the service is very good. I was struggling to carry a bunch of soda from CVS, and they gave me a box and helped me back it effectively. They are always good about helping you find what you need. read more

This place is great. It's location is awesome and for a city liquor store their selection is great. They carry both inexpensive and expensive wines and have a great collection of beer and hard alcohol. The staff is friendly and they remember you after a few visits which is nice. read more

Excellent liquor store. They have everything you want. They have Sierra Nevada Glissage this spring and is one of the only place I have seen with this amazing beer. I also love the "cash only" line. I never had an issue with this store until this weekend. (Mind you I am not a college student). A friend came to visit and she only carries her green card because she doesn't drive. They rudely refused her ID and made it seem like she was some kind of criminal when she questioned why they wouldn't take a VALID FEDERAL FORM OF ID. I stepped in and bought her liquor for her. Which also makes no sense, you wouldn't take her ID but let me buy it and hand it right to her after? Bad business and awful awful customer service. I will NEVER go here again and plan to spread the word to friends who live in the area so they lose even more business. read more

Gets the job done and is the most conveniently located liquor store for BC students. It's kind of dirty and I always feel like I'm being watched. A couple workers will offer advice about wine, though they also have some student employees that aren't very knowledgeable/don't care. They have a decent selection but don't expect to find anything other than the college standards (at least in terms of beer & liquor). Yes, they are generally verrryy careful with IDs, but you can't really hold this against a liquor store so close to a college campus. read more

I understand a stringent IDing process, but don't give me a smirk and rudely slap my receipt down. The young woman at counter seems like something foul crawled up her rear and died. I moved to Brighton last June and of course my first order of business was to find the closest liquor store, I mean lets be honest moving is a bitch and a nice stiff drink was in order. Enter Reservoir Wines and Spirits. Yayy!! They have everything I want, even the Michelob Ultra Pomegranate Raspberry, which is delicious by the way, and is the only place I have ever seen it sold (except the last time I went in they only had the lime flavor, they had sold out it looks like people are catching on NOOOOOO!!!) Not to mention the prices aren't outrageous. They definitely are hardcore about the IDing and sometime one of the employees tries to be a wiseguy and say my ID is a fake, obviously it isn't but he thinks its funny, I play along and let him go with it. I mean the place has liquor, beer and wine which awards them 5 stars alone but its also conveniently located, the prices are reasonable and the selection is great. This place has a great selection of beer and wine, but the real gem here are the wine recommendations from the guy with the glasses. This guy is a wine professional - I mean I have gone in there countless times with a difficult recipe in mind, looking for wine, and this guy nails it every single time! He is really knowledgeable and helpful, and won't look down on you if you only want to spend $20 on a bottle. He has great recommendations at all price levels, and he really knows about foods and pairing. I will really miss this place when we move out of the neighborhood. read more

This place is ok, and they have a pretty good selection. But what drives me nuts is the fact that the white wines in the refrigerated section NEVER have price tags on them. Granted, the employees are always more than happy to go check out the prices for me, but it's just kind of a waste of my time. They should just mark them in the first place to avoid all the song and dance of doing the price check. read more

This place is cheaper than other liquor stores and it is also conveniently located near my apartment/the T. We usually pick up beer and Jack Daniels. The selection is decent but I haven't really bought any wine, as I usually buy stuff from Trader Joe's. One thing I haven't seen in awhile is Cold Duck. I really hope they get more of that in stock because the peach champagne, while good, just isn't cutting it. read more

Do you even know what "government-issued ID" means? Yes that includes Driver's License, Passport and oh yeah, PERMANENT RESIDENT CARD AKA GREEN CARD. As legitimate as my passport, if not more. Stop IDing people who are actually legal on the basis that I don't have your definition of "government-issued ID."
