I almost expected a nice weather (sardinia is normally warm for the whole month of september) but it was actually gorgeous: warm, windy and dry. Regarding the resort: starting from the reception i felt welcomed and pampered! The personnel was always ready to assist me for every need and they were constantly smiling! There are two restaurants inside the resort: one of them, near the reception is organized as a buffet, the other one need to be reserved and has a-la-carte service. I didn't have the chance to try the a-la-carte restaurant, because i was enjoying the buffet: there were everyday a full assortments of meats and fish, several kind of pastas, appetizers and desserts. The bread is probably home made, because they have a fantastic oven which is used to bake pizza for the dinner. There are various sport activities (not tried), like the wellness center (not tried), a pool filled with sea water (tried) and the sea is close to the resort (5 minutes walking probably). it was a beautiful experience and now i'm sad because i'm back in London.

It is still quite a hike. We have to wait for the shuttle or we have to walk. It is very hilly and in the hot sun very tiring to walk up hills each day. The pool is about a 10 minute walk and the beach is a 15 minute walk. Walking down is ok, walking up I wouldn't recommend unless you are incredibly fit. You have to go early in the morning to grab a chair by the pool which is free, you have to pay for an umbrella and chairs on the beach. This is quite ridiculous for the amount of money we paid to stay here. Also, there is no water anywhere to drink. You have to go to the bar and they will only give you a bottle of water to purchase. The only meal that comes with free water is breakfast. The breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffet is really good. They rotate the meal items each day. As far as our room goes we have a beautiful view, but there are ants everywhere! Outside our door, inside our room. We don't keep any food inside either. They are due to all the vegetation. I think the hotel should do something about this especially on our patios. The staff are very friendly but our TV did not work. We requested it to be fixed many times. They fixed it once and then it didn't work again. Also, the room key card is an issue. It only worked the first few days we were here. They gave us a physical key but when we checked in they put the wrong key in our key envelope so the staff had to open our door. So we have been having to use the physical key to get into our room. My husband told the front desk and they said the key card will only work if you don't double lock the front door. That makes no sense because our door was not double locked. The pool is beautiful and salt water with amazing views, but the bottom of the pool has hard stone and you can cut your feet, it is a beautiful location. I came to Sardinia to relax and hiking up to my room from the beach or pool or after dinner is not relaxing to me nor is waiting for shuttles with a baby. It seems like the baby club is great but we didn't use it. They had a show for children on one evening which was nice. The live music at night is also nice. I would not recommend this hotel for the elderly or disabled it is very hard to get around. It is also not stroller friendly to go down to the pool or beach unless you take the shuttle. I hope they make some improvements.

We love food and were willing to pay for it as long as it's good. Sadly the food here is in general quite boring and expensive, during our stay we had lunch here once and dinner twice. The first evening we had "the culinary journey" it was supposed to be something extra according to the hotels description. We found the food served mediocre although the fish we had for main was well prepared and the wine served together with the dinner was good. The lunch was not worth the price, dinner the second day was probably best and we can recommend you to try the slow cooked veal and the chocolate fondant. In average the price level is quite high 4eur for a small water, 24eur for a boring pasta during lunch and Kellogg's k special for 6 eur in the mini bar. It gives you the impression your being ripped off and indeed you are... So why did we still choose to eat here, well the place is in the middle of nowhere, in order to get here you drive 6km along a narrow road and thereafter you need to drive around 10 min to bonifacio (beautiful city), it's simply to much of a hassle to leave. Further the wifi is unreliable and the hairdryer is really bad.

When we booked our trip to Sardinia, we really did not know what to expect and La Coluccia was picked since it looked secluded and away from the hustle and bustle of any major city or town. Well, it turns out our assumptions were correct, this amazing hotel is very secluded, about 25km from the nearest large town, Santa Teresa. The hotel itself is fairly small, I think it is about 50 rooms or so. The facility looks very new and all the amenities were great. The bright white color of the hotel's exterior, enhanced by the beautiful deep blue color of the surrounding Mediterranean and the tall pine trees that dot the island, makes for quite the tranquil setting. We truly enjoyed our stay at La Coluccia. The staff speaks several languages (and speaks English quite well) and they are always on hand to cater to your needs. The grounds consist of an outdoor eating area and pool, then as you make your way to the beach, a large grassy area with shade provided for hammocks there by the tall pine trees on the grounds. From there you take a few steps down to the beach, which isn't quite sand, but more of a beach consisting of fine, small pieces of granite (should be no surprise as the entire island of Sardinia is covered by, and consists of, granite). The water on the island is amazingly clear and there is covered seating on the beach so you can enjoy the view. One of the best aspects of La Coluccia is the fine dining. They do not have an open menu, it is a set menu each night, consisting of four courses (and three items for each course) for a fixed price. While the dinner is expensive, it is quite good, and for those visiting Italy and wanting to try a wide spectrum of Italian culinary delicacies, this is a great way to do it. You can balance your expensive dinner by taking advantage of the complimentary breakfast, which is also delicious and quite expansive: several types of cured meats, eggs, bacon, fresh baked breads of various shapes and sizes, as well as fruit and coffee. We found ourselves becoming addicted to the thin, fresh baked bread from Sardinia. One word of advice if you did plan to at least explore some of the island, not just stay at the hotel, you will want to rent a car. It is close to a 40 minute ride from the airport, so plan accordingly. However, you could just do as we did and to just get out for a day, take a cab to Santa Teresa. So if you were like us and were looking for a nice, secluded hotel for a relaxing weekend, La Coluccia is definitely the place to choose to begin your Sardinian adventure.

Prepare to be scammed…read more This place is a textbook tourist trap. Deceptive pricing, rude staff, and zero accountability. It's sad because the setting is beautiful and had real potential. We even joked that it would be a great wedding venue. No longer feel the same as I would never in my life want to deal with these people ever again. We stopped in for a quick drink before dinner. Just two drinks each, no food. The waiter clearly told us it was a 50 euro minimum per person, which we were fine with. But when the bill arrived, it was 600 euros for five people. Suddenly, they claimed it was a 120 euro minimum, something we were never told. When we questioned it, the manager was condescending, dismissive, and completely unhelpful. His only response: "It's on the menu," then he walked away. No apology. No explanation. Had they been honest upfront, we either would have stayed for a full dinner or never sat down. Instead, they lured us in with false information. Classic bait and switch. We'll be disputing the charge with Amex and reporting this place everywhere we can. Avoid at all costs. You'll be overcharged, disrespected, and left with a very expensive lesson.

This hotel I would not recommend as my room is extremely small! We cannot even open the bathroom shower door unless the bathroom door is closed. I thought that my Bonvoy status (Titanium Elite for life) would help me get an upgrade or at-least a decent size room. Unfortunately the front desk would not accommodate us and said sorry we can't help you. This is unacceptable and not typical of other high end Marriott properties. We are very disappointed and considering leaving early.
