This Residence Inn by Marriott is accessed via 36th Ave and Rhône street. I booked a 2bedroom Suite, 1-night stay via Expedia and had no issues at check-in or check-out. The hotel is remodeled as a whole. Despite this It is starting to wear in places like the hot tub. Our room included 2 queen beds (one in each room) a bathroom in each room, a living room with gas fireplace, a leather pull out queen bed, a kitchen, and 3 total TV's. The hotel advertises having Netflix but you definitely have to log in because the TV guide channels offered are extremely limited. The communal areas of the hotel are inviting and comfortable. It's too bad they didn't have their fire pit going, ever. We didn't find the basketball court (although it is winter). The free breakfast area provides enough room to sit, as not all guests dine at the same time and some guests will choose to go back up to their room and eat, like I did. The breakfast offerings were better than a continental breakfast. They had meat options, cereal options, waffle options. Not bad. The gym is open 24hrs while the pool/jacuzzi is open 5am-11pm. We booked our stay to celebrate our January kiddo's birthday and she and her friends enjoyed the space(s) in their entirety. I would book again. read more

The rooms are old and dowdy, with mold in the bathrooms. The towels are skimpy, the beds and pillows uncomfortable, and no moving air in the rooms during a heat wave. The price of the rooms was quite high compared to major metropolitan cities in the US. read more

Wonderful people and I had everything I needed for my 3 1/2 week stay. I was recovering from surgery and the staff there could not have been more kind or accommodating. Every single one, from the maintenance staff who came in and got my fire stick hooked up for me, to the front desk staff who notified me when my grocery delivery was there, housekeeping you always made sure I had what I needed when I needed it, always asked how I was doing, etc. Every single encounter I had was positive and friendly. The breakfasts were fabulous also, Really good quality hot food and cereal options every day. My room was more than adequate - I had a handicap accessible bathtub, two separate rooms, the kitchen was great. Beautiful hotel that looks and feels very homey. It looks like an apartment building. The staff is incredibly friendly and easy to talk with. *There's a beautiful courtyard and a basketball area. *The pool is indoor and open 24 hours. *The lobby is vast with lots of seating and televisions. We love that our spacious room had a fireplace. The only things we didn't like was breakfast was the same thing every morning. It got soooo tiring. And the last thing was we kept asking for cleaning service everyday the five days we were there, and they never had time (Their words!) to get to our room. It might be due to understaffing... Don't know what to say about the condition of this hotel other than, well it's dirty and old. I knew I was in for a treat when I walked in the elevator and saw mismatched fake wood on the walls and floor. The carpet resembled something out of the 80s. I walked to my room hoping for good news, no dice. I went to my hotel room and saw nothing but stains on every surface and worn furniture. See photos for proof. Who owns this place? This Residence Inn is similar to the other Residence Inns that I have stayed at in other cities, meaning that it is clean, comfortable and managed by a friendly and efficient staff. Our two bedroom suite was nice with an LCD TV in each bedroom plus the living room. The living room included a pull out sleeper sofa and a fireplace. I experienced a little snafu with the reservation because at the last minute I made a change over the phone to which days that I had booked the room since we wanted to leave for one day/night to go to Seward to go fishing. The guy manning the front desk was eventually able to fix the problem. They were also kind enough to hold the majority of our luggage in storage (free of charge) while we were in Seward. The breakfast was the typical of this chain - coffee, juice, oatmeal, eggs, waffles, sausage, bagels, toast, etc. It was okay and more than enough to get you going in the morning. read more

My friends and I stayed in the 2 Bedroom Suite. It was great because there are 2 bathrooms and a sofa bed in the living room. It also comes with a fully equipped kitchen- refrigerator, stovetop, and microwave. I love the fact that they feed you! They offer complimentary continental breakfast daily. I liked making blueberry waffles for my breakfast. They have Evening Socials (Monday-Thursday) with complimentary food and beverages. At the check-in counter, there are also cookies. Thank goodness for free Wifi, which I relied on heavily. I had to look for Wifi everywhere I went because my phone's internet didn't work anywhere in Alaska. We had a comfortable stay. If I ever go to Anchorage again (which would be never), I'd definitely book a room here. read more

I really enjoy staying at the different Residence's as you know what you're getting. They all have pretty much the same set-up. The location, although can somewhat be seen from the main street, is a bit confusing to find with no clear signage. We stayed in a tower across the main one and that too could be confusing. By the end of the 1st day though, we had all the "shortcuts" down. There is a heated pool and hot tub that I wish I had brought my swimming gear as the area plus pool was warm. The temp outside was super cold, low 50's for summer. Morning breakfast was more than adequate and hot line changed daily. It is included in the rate. Some places (like Hyatt) have the same breakfast that becomes monotonous. There was always eggs, some type of meat, oatmeal, waffle bar, an assortment of breads, cheese platter, fresh fruits, yogurt, lots of teas and coffee. Tea and coffee is available 24/7. There is social hour M-W with a 2 drinks included. On Monday it was cheese and crackers, hummus, grapes, celery, cucumbers. Drinks were Stella and a local beer as well as wine. I will say the snacks weren't the best. The cheese tasted old. Kinda laid out on a tray. The next night was hamburgers. We left before they served them so can't rate them. They have an outdoor grill which we utilized. It's right next to a fireplace. Room was comfortable. 1 king bed that also has a pull-out couch. Comes with a full kitchen which we love and adequate kitchen cookware. It would have been nice to have an elevator close to the room we were staying, '09 by the stairs. There is an elevator but way way out of the way. The stairs nxt to our rm goes straight to the parking lot. Elevator to transport the luggage wuld be great. This is a good hotel that is close enough to downtown (15min) and everything else (walmart, fred meyer) for groceries. It was about $250/night with all the taxes but if you want a place that has everything in it (minus restaurant) this is it. read more

Another lovely stay in a gorgeous suite! I felt so spoiled. My room had a gas fireplace and full kitchen. It included every amenity, even a laundry basket! Nicely thought out. My room was warm and quiet. I slept like a baby. I wish I were staying much longer. In the morning, they served up a comprehensive breakfast. The potatoes were fabulous. I'm not sure what the sausage was made of, but at least they had some protein. My conference room was set up nicely. When I got significantly more participants than I was expecting, the staff quickly set up a new table. I was a little stressed out and had some issues with the printer, and was rescued by Jorge. (I think that was his name, don't quote me on that.) He was very kind and efficient and even took my flash drive to the back to use their printer when the one out front failed me. Good: Complementary breakfasts, room, friendly staff Bad: TV issues, pool under renovations, bad information from front desk I was in Anchorage for a 3-week business trip. This was an OK stay. Not too bad, not great either. The room was clean and functional. As an extended stay hotel, it had all the necessary items to make a few meals in the room so you don't have to eat out every meal. The complementary breakfasts were good and offered a variety of items so you could change your breakfasts. The evening mixers were only offered Mon-Wed with Wed being a food truck in the parking lot (with complementary drinks in the hotel). I was looking forward to hit the hot tub to relax after my flight to Alaska, but the pool area was being renovated. You could take the shuttle to another hotel to use their pool, but who want's to do that if the goal is to relax? Twice during the stay, I had only cold water in the shower. The first was at mid-morning which maybe due to everyone taking morning showers. The second time was early morning which I couldn't figure out why there wouldn't be any hot water. The biggest issue on this stay was the TV which was sluggish to respond to the remote (probably since the channel box is stuck between the wall and the side of the TV/dresser which blocks the remote). Sadly this trip ended on a negative note. The day before I was to depart, I inquired at the front desk about shuttles to the airport and was told there was a shuttle that leaves on the top of each hour. On the day of departure, I called to confirm that a shuttle was available later that day and was told by the front desk that I needed to make reservations for the shuttle. Luckily, I wasn't leaving for a few hours so there was time to make a reservation. What would have happened if I hadn't called and just showed up expecting the shuttle to take me to the airport? I probably stay here again, but it wouldn't be my first choice. read more

This place was newly renovated, but the service sucked. The first room we got was still dirty and there was pee all over the toilet seat the the sink wouldnt drain. The new room it was still dirty but not as bad as the first. They gave us a handicap room and the shower was short and we asked them for another room but they said they couldnt with it being the holiday season. We went to dinner one night before we left town, so everything was packed ready to leave the next morning. As we returned we found a coffee cup on our table that wasnt ours and a backpack was missing with contents like a nintendo switch, car keys, noise cancelling headphones and a cell phone. Called the cops and front desk. They said they cant review the cameras til after the holidays. After all said and done everything that was stolen marriot said its not their fault and that what the security boxes are for. read more

The first hotel I've stayed at in Anchorage. Out of the 4 hotels I've stayed at during my trip in Alaska, Residence Inn by Marriott would probably be the best. Location is a little far out away from the airport and downtown, not by a lot though. Rooms were clean, decent size and the bed was pretty comfortable. Plenty of parking spaces in the lot, close to where your rooms are. Yes, there's wifi and hot water! Only thing I was too crazy about was being on the first level. Hospitality staff were all very friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast was pretty good for complimentary breakfast. If you're looking for a quiet place to stay at in Anchorage, I'd recommend staying here. read more

This is not some uber fancy hotel. In Anchorage, however, this is as good as it gets. It is in mid-town near the BP building (It is easy to get to). Parking is free. Rooms are large and have full sized refrigerators. If you are visiting our most-awesome state full refrigerators w/ freezer are a huge perk. You can stash your fish or prepare your own meals or chill your beer. Whatever your pleasure it is nice. If you are from Rural Alaska, like myself, the fridge helps with the shopping we do before we head home. The pool is one of the larger ones in Anchorage (My kids like it better than any other Marriott in ANC). Plus breakfast and weekday dinners are free (not best-food-ever, but free). I think during the week there is also some kind of "we love you" hour with free beer and wine. Any hotel downtown will nickel and dime you to death. Unless you want to be within walking distance to downtown restaurants or need the view, this is your best bet. They also have an airport shuttle year round. read more

On par with the other Residence inn chains. Maid staff did a great job. Especially since I did cook a few meals during my stay. Had a suite type room where the bed room was divided by a small door. Internet was not great in the evening times probably its highest volume traffic (lonely porn watchers). The room was about $150 a night at the corporate discounted rate so slightly pricey. +1 for the moose that was grazing next to my rental Prius. read more

Although the hotel is under renovation, our room was well accommodated and served us well. The best part of the stay was the staff! All were very friendly and helpful! Kudos to Dre! We were looking to stay somewhere for a few weeks while we look for a permanent residence and even gave her a week or two to find us a room there. She had us sold but didn't have anything currently but told us she would find something for us and to call her back in a few days. We waiting the few days and called and left a message. The next day my wife called 3 times. I called and left a message the day after that. We have been calling nearly everyday for a week with not a single call returned. Bottom line? This Residence Inn and its GM are a lot of talk with no action. Its truly unfortunate. We really liked what we heard on that first phone call. The GM told us if you want something done there all you need to do is call the Boss. Well...I'm guessing not a lot gets done around there if she is the benchmark of task completion. read more

I did not stay here, just visited a friend and went to a two day seminar here. I cannot believe how nice the rooms are. My friend got the one bedroom so that it's not just one big room. There is a full kitchen stocked with cooking and eating utensils. I checked out the bed and it was super comfy. There are a couple of couches to chill on while watching TV. But that's not all friend. No, no, there's more. Every day there is free breakfast and free booze and food for happy hour. That alone would make me stay here. I have stayed at this location many times. The service is going to heck quickly. The cleaning staff is very poor and now they have changed their social hour from four days a week to three and no longer have cooked meals each night. They only have two washing machines and it is a real pain going back and forth to see if one is empty. There Are at times very large families staying in a room at one time with lots of kids. My review for the Residence Inn in Anchorage lingers somewhere between a 4 and a 5. Why a 4? When we got to the room that we were assigned there were some cleaning chemicals out, the dining table, coffee table, and chairs were stacked, the carpet was damp, and there were 2 industrial dryers blowing directed at the carpet. We were confused. Long story short, that specific room wasn't supposed to have been assigned but a mistake was made. They reassigned our room across the hotel (which is actually a bit of a maze) but then the other half of our party told us that someone came in and fixed everything in the original room. It was strange and a bit confusing. Why would I have given the hotel a 5? The room was nice, spacious, and at least we knew the carpet was clean (they had recently shampooed it; that's why it was damp). The hotel provided free breakfast and a free evening happy hour. The clerk staff was friendly and seemed very apologetic. And after all the confusion they gave us a little goodie bag with some snacks and a discount on the room. And it wasn't an insubstantial discount either. We very much appreciated how they dealt with the error. People make mistakes but just as long as they are apologetic about it and actually try to make an effort to make things right, then we're happy customers. This place is fine. I've stayed here for 14 days across two visits in the last 30 days. You have to make sure when you are checking in, if you need certain amenities like an oven (why would you stay at a residence inn without an oven??), to be upfront with the front desk. Then, before you unpack, make sure that oven, stove, and lights all work. it's not a guarantee, trust me. Also, the rugs are covered in stains, and the furniture is stained and worn. However, I always cover the furniture with the spare sheets anyway, so I don't mind too much. The staff are nice, and the breakfast is pretty good - they always have eggs, oatmeal, bread/bagels, waffles, cereal, water, coffee and juice. They alternate sausage, potatoes, breakfast biscuits, etc. The variety is very comforting, as I have dietary restrictions and I find I can always eat something. Monday - Wednesday they have some sort of dinner / snack / desert available. They're fine - the food is hardly healthy or amazing, but it's nice to have free food!! The high-speed internet is pretty good - if you're platinum, its free - otherwise the daily fee is 7.95 which is pretty steep in my opinion. The grounds are well kept, as are the common areas. The housecleaning staff does a good job. Honestly, the bad furniture and stained rugs would give it a 3 normally, but the service, good price, and breakfast variety bump it up a bit. read more

Spent two nights here in Anchorage. Great location for getting to the base or south. The staff was fantastic no complaints at all. Very typical Residence Inn room. Also very typical breakfast and evening social. You can always be sure of your stay at Residence Inn. Average place to stay in anchorage. Probably wouldn't go back. Late arrival on a Wednesday Eve. We were given a room on the first floor as far away from the lobby as possible. After schlepping our bags down some very long hallways (there was a faster way to go but we weren't informed of that) - we were greeted by the sound of a barking dog. Someone had obviously left their dog alone in the room next to ours and he voiced his displeasure for the next 45 minutes. Not good. We noticed our room was pretty stuffy when we walked in but turned on the A/C and didn't realize until 1am that the A/C wasn't working. So we slept in a hot room. To top it off, the sink in the bathroom was running very slow. This is a pet peeve of mine.... the housekeeper cleans that sink (allegedly) every day - why didn't she inform maintenance about it so that they can attend to it? We arrived at 5 and were told our room wasn't clean and it would take at least an hour to clean it. Keep in mind that check in is supposed to be at 3:00. The lady at the front desk told us we could leave and come back but we opted to sit in the lobby. We were traveling with my 8 month old so we asked if we could get a crib. She couldn't tell us if they had a crib but told us if they did she would send it up. It says online there is one. I asked her if they had a changing table in the bathroom and she didn't know. They didn't. When asked where we could change the baby she and another worker just blankly stared at us. We ended up having to change her on the lobby couch. We didn't get into the room until 6:30. When we got there the dishwasher was still running and the showers hadn't been cleaned. In both rooms there was soap scum and dark curly hair on the walls and the drains. I am not sure what took them an hour to clean since half the room wasn't clean. They did bring up a pack n play. However, I think that James Madison may have used it. It was old, falling apart and there was not any sheets to go on it. Now I worked in a hotel through college, so I am very sympathetic to the workers in the industry. However, checking in 3.5 hours AFTER check in time is ridiculous. Especially when our room wasn't anywhere near clean. We had to leave at 3 am to catch a flight the next day so we really weren't in the room all that long as it was. She said they could probably comp the room for us- but ended up only giving us a partial discount in the end. We have stayed here dozens of times, so we were extremely disappointed that they let us down. They need to keep in mind that there are a lot of hotels in Anchorage, so we will probably be taking our business elsewhere next time. read more

Overall it was a pretty good place to stay. The rooms were clean, comfortable and fairly quiet. We had a few minor issues at check in, (the room wasn't ready at 3:00 pm, and then when we were allowed to check in the room approximately 20 minutes later, it was still being cleaned). Daily breakfast was included and was located in a buffet area just off the lobby. On weeknights there was a light "happy hour" including beer, wine and a light snack. There was plenty of parking. The location of the hotel is just off Seward Highway a few miles from the downtown area which was convenient for getting around to the various sites we went to. We had trouble finding the hotel coming from the airport, as some of the streets in Anchorage discontinue from one block to the next and this hotel is located on one of them. Also, strangely enough, there is no sign at the main entrance to this hotel (at least when we were there). read more

I spent last week at the Residence Inn/Midtown in Anchorage. It was fantastic. We had a 2 bedroom suite which included 2 bathrooms, 3 TV's and a full kitchen, living room. The staff was friendly and helpful in every interaction we had. The breakfast was terrific, including hot and cold items - eggs, waffles, yogurt, oatmeal bar. Amazing. And, on Mon-Thursday they have a happy hour (beer/wine) with hors d'oevres as well as a dinner entree and salad bar. The food was great, not fancy, but fresh, nicely presented and plentiful. I stay here for business 2 weeks every month, for over 2 years now. That makes me equivalent to a one year full time-resident at least. I can stay anywhere I want and have stayed in most hotels in Anchorage (Embassy, Hilton, Millennium to name a few). None have equaled the friendliness, service and perceived desire to please exhibited by the staff. They really feel like family. My room is always immaculate (except for my own messiness). I am staying here 90 days I asked to be upgraded to a 2 bedroom room and it was granted and I was told no problems since I work for Krogers .I checked 4 times over the course of the next few days and I packed everything up got it ready for the move . I had to leave for the weekend to go visit my Daughter in Washington and I was told again no problems everything would be moved . When I got back nothing was moved and they are telling me that they now want another $20 a day !!! I did not recieve a apology or anything!!! Today the assitant manager told me if I dont like it stay at another Hotel !! I have 46 more days at $159 a night before I move into my apartment .....Very Poor management. read more
