Nothing but great things to say about this hotel. It's not fancy, and there's certainly some things that are dated, but it's clean, functional, very close proximity to the Mayo, and the staff is wonderful. The check in process was easy and the front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. We originally checked into a room and realized it did not have an oven which we were counting on to make food. We went downstairs and asked if we could be switched to a room. Andrew was so pleasant and immediately desk get switched. The gym was functional, and you could get a good workout in. The water machine was broken in the gym, but they were trying to get that fixed. The room itself was a normal residence in room. It was stocked with everything you would need. Some of the cooking utensils could probably be replaced as the pans were pretty scraped up and the can opener was almost completely rusted. The complementary breakfast every morning was what you would expect and hit the spot. Hot and cold food. I think the thing that impressed me most was walking to the front desk to ask a question and hearing Andrew answer the phone for a guest. It was around 4 PM in the afternoon and the guest was asking Andrew if there was still hot coffee being provided by the hotel. The breakfast ends in the morning, but Andrew offered to make the guest a fresh pot of hot decaffeinated coffee if they were willing to wait 15 minutes. I could not believe the customer service that he was providing to go above and beyond to try to meet this particular guests needs. Anytime we had a question or needed something. All of the staff was so helpful, but Andrew in particular seemed to be working extremely hard and was there every night. Would definitely stay here again read more

CONSTRUCTION ALERT... Do not consider this location at all for a very long time. Mayo Clinic is expanding and this hotel is right in the middle of the work zone..I am talking pile driving outside your windows and very hard to navigate the streets. Noise is going all day into early evening. Also the hotel itself is under renovation. Just don't book here. Sometime in the future this will be a great location for those that need to visit Mayo Clinic but not now. I will say the staff is great...much of this out of their control. I received no notice of the situation as verified by Marriott Reservations. That is not right. read more

The room is nice and close to Mayo Clinic with access through the "subway". The staff are extremely helpful and kind. My only complaint is the bathtub floor for showering is slippery. I didn't take a shower because of the risk of falling. I didn't ask the staff for a solution like a nonslip mat because with my tests I couldn't shower anyway for one night. But it would have been nice to shower the first and last nights. They may have a solution I just didn't ask. I suggest they put nonslip mats in the rooms. read more

I use Residence Inn because I know what to expect. This property did not disappoint. In addition it is conveniently located near the Mayo Clinic and the elevator opens to the underground walkway system to the clinic. Easy to get to from the highway, GPS will make it quick for first time visitors. It's good to see that the complimentary breakfast has returned to a hot continental breakfast. Not quite as full as before Covid restrictions, but better than months ago. For me a differentiating factor is in the people. Reception was staffed by a very friendly, cheerful and helpful individual. She made me feel welcome and answered a number of questions with a desire to make my visit pleasant. In Rochester? Recently stayed here while attending Mayo Clinic. The place was clean and was supplied with everything we needed. Breakfast was decent and they had different hot food options daily. They also always had basic options daily like oatmeal, bagels, bakery etc. I also noted they had a few dairy free milk options and gluten free bakery options. Staff was always very friendly. Was also connected by subway and was only about a 5-10 minute walk to Mayo Clinic. Was perfect for what we needed and would stay again if attending Mayo Clinic again. read more

We really enjoyed staying at this hotel. Upon check in the staff was so attentive and friendly (thanks Steven!!). We needed parking and were given the option of outside for $11 (and a block away) or $20 for inside and connected to the hotel. We opted for the inside and had no issues parking there. Very convenient! We asked Steven for a nice quiet room and he put us on a high floor near the corner. We appreciated his accommodation of our request! The rooms here all have kitchens. Our room looked like it had been remodeled and updated with updated appliances). It was very clean. The only issue with the room were three lady bugs that we found crawling around our window sill or ceiling. There were a lot of lady bugs outside in the area flying around so I'm guessing thats how they found their way in the building. I'm not a fan of any bug so this made me feel a little uneasy. The location of this hotel is a close 10-15 minute walk to many restaurants and bars. This hotel serves hot breakfast but the options are limited. There were never any potatoes served when I stayed there but since its free I'm not going to be choosy about it. I still ate what they served! The kitchen staff was really friendly. They came out to talk to the guests about how they were doing health wise because many people stay here while visiting the Mayo clinic. Location is convenient for Mayo Clinic. Room was clean. Shower caulking was falling off the shower. Lobby very small and cramped. Outside parking location is opposite side of the block. Spots are way too small for vehicles. Also not easy to get to and from in bad weather. Food is very limited due to Covid. Needs an updating to bring up to standards. This is a three week stay for us. The first of our party to arrive had booked a studio, we were to be in a suite. A second suite was awarded at the desk, in lieu of the studio. We had asked to be side by side in our accommodations due to the fact that my companion and I would be taking care of next person after surgery. The suites are wonderfully spacious, cheerful, and very livable for a long stay. The "whole" kitchen with full refrigerator and cooktop stove and dishwasher and microwave are so great. So nice to also order in from the "Waiter Express" food delivery. The ability to order groceries from the front desk to be delivered all make for an easy transition from independence to a need to stay inside for a period of time. The Subway, being connected to shops, the clinic, pharmacy, etc., is so great, as we are from California and the temps outside are 0 to 16 degrees. We did enjoy the "Happy Hour" in the lobby, in the evenings. The entire staff is expert, friendly, kind, helpful, respectful. The housekeeping service is also expert. Our sheets were changed every three days and we had some mini housekeeping service every day. This hotel has it all figured out for the long term comfort of its clients. Oh, additionally, I was able to purchase my favorite Haagen Dazs ice cream at the front desk. read more

Happy Hour with munchies are put out M-F. Caring and efficient staff. There is a heated parking garage and the tunnels to Mayo's Clinic are handy during inclement weather. The guests become like family. A couple of computers and a printer are also available for use. My suggestion is bring milk for your refrigerator, what they sell is VERY limited. I have stayed at many Marriott hotels and have read the reviews about this hotel. I stayed in the handicap 1 bedroom suite with the roll in shower. I was also traveling on my own with my service dog. I will be completely honest and ask that you read the entire review. There are tips within to help your stay The hotel is a bit older. But it's clear they are trying to update. Obviously they can only update a room when no one is staying there and since they are connected to Mayo, they stay pretty busy. Even with the age, my room was very clean. I have high standards when it comes to hotel cleanliness due to my health and they met my expectations. Things they have in their kitchens: Microwave Full size refrigerator/freezer 2 burner stove (larger stove and oven in some rooms I've heard) Standard size coffee maker Toaster 3 size pots forks, knives, spoons basic cooking utensils cooking knives (mine were serrated and a bit thinner than i'm used to, but they were sharp) Plates (2 sizes) Cereal bowls water goblets drinking glasses coffee mugs collander 3 size pyrex mixing bowls w/ lids 2 cup measuring cup can opener oven mitts Tip: order groceries to arrive by the time you arrive, they will put the groceries in the refrigerator/freezer for your arrival. I had my groceries delivered the afternoon before I was scheduled to arrive. They did have to put my groceries in a separate room since mine was being used the night before; but when I arrived, they moved my groceries to my room and helped me put them away. Where this hotel truly excels is their staff. Since I'm traveling alone and am disabled, I needed quite a bit of help. They were able to provide everything I requested. I even needed someone to get the dishes off the top shelves (I'm vertically challenged lol). The handheld showerhead had a crack, so I called the front desk and they had someone there to fix it within 30 mins. They offer an escort service and will push you with their provided wheelchair (or your own) through the subway to the hospital (where the hospital escorts take over) and then pick you up when you're done. Tip: call ahead and explain exactly what will help your stay. Especially if you have specific medical needs. You don't have to do this legally but i also suggest letting them know early if you're bringing a service dog. It just helps with any confusion at the beginning and they know what to expect. I always do this and it really helps. Speaking of dogs. They are amazing with my dog. When she's "working" they are very respectful and will ignore her. When she's not working, they love her! They give her treats and love on her every time she goes through the lobby not vested. She loves them so much that she will hurry on potty breaks so she can get back in and see her friends. Which is really nice in the MN winters. They have a poo bag dispenser at the side entrance in case you forget yours (which i did a lot) When it comes to breakfast, it is a grab and go breakfast (prepackaged) but they offer items you can heat either at the buffet or back in your room. They have a large variety as well as hot coffee. I have no complaints about their breakfast and appreciate the extra steps they take for safety. Comments on other amenities: The gym is small but has everything you could want to get a quick workout in. There is a laundry room but it only takes quarters. The front office will break bills for you but you'll need to find an ATM (closest one is just inside Mayo) There is a terrace on the 2nd floor (along with gym and laundry) that is big and open. There are some rooms with a direct door onto the terrace. There are 2 computers available as well as a printer. It's best for small projects but still a nice feature. Tip: print out your mayo paperwork before you arrive. The computers have a bit of an issue with the Mayo website for some reason. Now I hope you have a better understanding of what to expect! read more

Very friendly and helpful staff. They never hesitated to make an extra effort to make sure we were comfortable, or that we had every piece of information we needed. They gave directions to local businesses and pointers on where to eat. The rooms were nice and clean, spacious and very functional. If we ever need to go back to the Rochester area, we will stay here again. read more

Staff is generally friendly & helpful. The hotel is connected to Mayo Clinic & downtown businesses via a subway tunnel system, providing a short, climate controlled walking environment. Yesterday I bought some paintings from an artist for the new house and he requested we meet at the Residence Inn, so I took my 14 year old niece with me and we were in the lobby waiting for him and they had some fresh watermelon on a platter for guests. My niece asked me if she could have a tiny cube of it and I said that I didn't see the harm in it. So she takes 2 and feeds me one (I'm quadripligic). Security came out of nowhere and asked if I was a guest. I said that I was meeting someone there so I assumed he was a guest, the individual was unwelcoming and didn't believe me and basically kicked us out over 2 bite sized cubes of watermelon lol. I will buy you guys a damn watermelon geez. read more

Marriott has always been my first choice when traveling but this property was not up to the standards I expect and have experienced from the Marriott brand. Like probably 90% of their guests, I was traveling with my daughter who was having surgery at Mayo Clinic. This was our first visit to Rochester and the Mayo Clinic and I can't say enough about how wonderful we were treated both as a patient and as a care giver by the staff at Mayo. Maybe we were so disappointed by the customer service at the Residence Inn because we spent the past 8 days working with professional people who work as a team and truly want to assist their patients with every need that may come up while in their care. My biggest complaint - because my daughter was not able to be discharged on the day we expected I needed to extend my stay an extra night. I was welcome to stay but my rate would now be $120 per night more than my previous 8 night rate. What if circumstances would have extended our stay by an additional week! To add insult to injury, the staff was very dismissive when I questioned the rate increase. Keep in mind, the same day we learned we needed to extend our stay, I had to change 2 flights on Delta. Delta made the adjustment and did not charge a reschedule fee and honored the rates that we booked 3 weeks ago. I never would have thought I would get better customer service from Delta than from Marriott! Ok, so I didn't like the attitude of the staff and general manager but if you're looking for a location in this area, this property is on the Mayo subway system. We rented a car at the airport but really could have done without. We were told that the underground paring was full so had to leave the car in their outside lot that isn't very close to the entrance. Trying to load and unload with a wheel chair was not easy or safe. The rest of the property was what you would expect at a Residence Inn. read more

Stayed here with my mom in June '19 while we both had tests at Mayo. My family typically stays at the Marriott or Hilton, but I felt like we would be more comfortable this trip in a "homier" place. I'm glad we chose RIbM. The more recent reviews are quite accurate. We tried getting the 2br/2ba suite, but they were booked so we had a 1br/1ba suite. (We were given the option to take a 2/2 for out first two nights with the understanding that we would have to move, but chose not to.) The stock pictures accurately represent our room. It was nice to have a full kitchen (w/ice maker) as we were both on restricted diets (for tests) most of the time we were there, plus I'm GF & DF. The hotel will deliver groceries to your room in the afternoon as long as you have provided a list by ~9a. The selection comes from Hy-Vee, which has an excellent selection plus you have the option of ordering online and having them just pickup for you. They will put your frozen & refrigerated items away if you're still away when they deliver. Breakfast selections downstairs were excellent - even a few things there that I could eat. We never had the opportunity to take advantage of the complimentary refreshments in the afternoons, but it looked like those who were there were enjoying themselves. The walk to Mayo/Gonda took ~4 min through the subway and it's worth mentioning that it's down a slope & up a slope. Mom's not as spry since her open heart surgery but she managed just fine. There is an occasional bench which came in handy the one time that she got tired. The weather was nice while we were there and we found it easier (much more pleasant!) to walk outside when returning from University Shoppes area. Because we are both light sleepers, she took the bed & I took the couch. I never let the sleeper sofa out, instead I made a bed on the cushions (I'm not really picky). Both slept good, but I do wish I could have accessed the bathroom without risking waking her at night. It was convenient to have the vanity separate from the bath so we could get ready simultaneously in the mornings. We were on the seventh floor near the elevator, but our room was quiet (except for the neighbor slamming their door occasionally). The staff were all very friendly, professional and courteous as well as quick & eager to accommodate. There were laundry & exercise facilities available on the second floor as well as a large patio. We chose to take the shuttle from the airport for $10/person on our arrival, but took a cab for ~$25 on departure. With senior discount, our stay came out to $227/night after all of the city, county, state, federal taxes & fees, booking directly. Although the RIbM maybe isn't as posh or upscale as a couple of the others, it was well more than adequate, more affordable, met our needs quite nicely & we will definitely stay there again. TIP: Don't use the light switch near the sink in the middle of the night... it's for the garbage disposal!!! read more

Our room came with a kitchen stocked with a regular sized fridge/freezer, glasses, silverware, dishwasher etc. If you have an extended stay in Rochester you cant beat the price of $199/night for a apartment style room close to downtown. Don't let the plain style exterior fool you, the rooms are clean and updated! Complimentary breakfast and happy hour are a bonus!! Parking is offered outside and underground. read more

This review is long overdue. We've been coming to this hotel for years. Every time we are here, the staff goes above and beyond. They are the most courteous and kindest front desk people I've ever encountered. Marquetta is seriously a rockstar! She deserves major kudos for all that she does! Christine and Anna are awesome too. All around great place to be when you are going to Mayo as you know you will be in great hands. A friendly interaction and helpful attitude really make a world of difference. The location is fantastic too. The subway takes you straight to Mayo and that is super convenient, especially during the winter. Plenty of the rooms have a fireplace too, which is extra cozy. It's also a pleasant 10 minute or less walk to Mayo when the weather is nice out. The outdoor daily parking rate is very reasonable too and close to the hotel. This hotel hits all the high notes. There is indoor parking, with a gate. There is a good design on the roll in shower. There is adequate space for toiletries, and the sink is outside the bathroom area, so two people can prepare at the same time. All the amenities are included, from coffee pot to GLASS cups for drinking at the sink. Staff is incredibly friendly. There is a nightly snack, with free beer and wine. But, most of all, there is a really good breakfast! Even better than some I've had in restaurants. There was even a choice between sliced white cheese and Brie wedges for your toast! Hot, fresh scrambled eggs, and fresh croissants coming out of the kitchen in several flavors. read more

The best thing about this hotel is its location. Since new management has taken over the hotel is much dirtier, with nowhere near enough housekeepers. The common areas like the hallways have filthy carpets. The rooms are not real clean, as too few housekeepers are swamped. The good news is great front desk staff, but they can not overcome the incompetent part time management and lack of investment in the property. I stayed there a few times before and it was much better a year of so ago, but downhill recently. read more

I have stayed twice at this hotel, and truly have enjoyed it!! Sure there were little issues with our second stay which was a month. But they were quick to help and solve what problems they could!! I believe they are going through an interior upgrade right now! Which will be brilliant as the appliances are starting to get a bit run down. Their maintenance man Josh is Brilliant and so lovely!! He fixed any problems we had as soon as he possibly could! It is fairly close to Mayo, the tunnels take a bit longer than walking on the street, but they are amazing for winter!!! And the hotel drops straight down into the them. It's about a 5-15 minute walk to Mayo, depending on your walking speed. The Staff here becomes your family and they are so beyond amazing!! My mum even made great friends as she was able to visit with them more than I was! Steven at the front desk, is Amazing!!! He was there both trips I had last year! He always has a friendly smile, is willing to crack a little joke with you once in awhile and is beyond helpful!! Couldn't say more about him!! The rooms are big and very comfortable especially if you are in a lot of pain, like myself. It truly is a home away from home! And that is brilliant when you have to go to the Mayo Clinic!! I was so nervous my first trip because I had so much to deal with, but this hotel made life so much easier during such a difficult time!! If only all Residence Inns were like this one!! Great Experience. Very Clean Room! Soft comfortable bed linens. Loved the senior discount. Cody at the front desk helped me with my reservation prior to check in and helped me when i arrived-excellent service Cody! Loved the suite as well as the ability to set your own room thermostat which worked well in 90 degree heat. Great Breakfast Options with lots of variety. I would have given this stay a 5 stars rating if it weren't for a few minor issues : trash was not emptied with room service, carpet by entry door was badly stained and should have been cleaned prior to a new guest arriving, no foam pillows as advertised, ceiling light in the kitchen did not work (assumed it needed a new bulb) and longer walk to Mayo's Gonda Building/Hilton Building than i expected--was more than 2 blocks even via subway (definitely closer to Methodist Hospital and the Charlton Buildings at Mayo). Would definitely return as long as the price was right! read more
