Senior Abuse - A Former Long-Term Member I was a long-time member of Resource One Credit Union, maintaining multiple accounts and an auto loan. Despite years of loyalty, I received no written notice of default, no Right to Cure, and no communication outlining my options before my vehicle was stolen. There was no outreach, guidance, or attempt to resolve the matter, only sudden action. Unauthorized funds were withdrawn from my accounts, causing overdrafts and significant financial hardship. Additionally, my vehicle was repossessed from within my gated private property, and all surveillance cameras, both at the community gates and at my residence, were taken offline during the incident. This left both my home and the surrounding community vulnerable and without the ability to monitor the situation. Police further indicated that they have encountered cases in which burglars use illegal Wi-Fi jammers to disable or interfere with surveillance cameras, raising additional concerns about how this incident occurred. As a senior member, this experience was dismissive, unethical, and deeply distressing. I now understand why this institution has a 1.6-Star rating. Had I known this beforehand, I would have never considered doing business with them. Supporting documentation, including account records, system logs, timestamps, and a police report, has been preserved. These issues indicate potential noncompliance with notice requirements, account authorization controls, and lawful repossession standards. BE AWARE OF WHO YOU TRUST WITH YOUR BAKING NEEDS! read more

I recently evaluated my experiences with Resource One, credit union that is supposed to be a non-for-profit, client-owned but there inconsistencies and fees that are not typically prevalent at other banks and credit unions that are actually for profit. For their prime spending account to avoid their monthly fee they require at least $1,000 of ACH transfers per month. This requirement is almost double what other banks and credit unions ask for. Additionally, they expect 20 debit card purchases throughout the month, which feels quite excessive. Moreover, they impose a "transborder fee" when using a debit or credit card outside of the United States. There's also a $2 fee when using an out-of-network ATM (this fee is literally "just because") especially when their prime spending account supposedly reimburses all foreign and out-of-network ATM fees. This raises questions about the actual benefits of ACH deposits and the necessary debit card transactions. Furthermore, the $9 account maintenance cost is quite steep. Their Chiching app offers everyday discounts, which appear to be available online and only cater to a select number of places. This isn't a standard practice I've encountered before at any credit union. Having used Prestige Community Credit Union for over four and a half years without ANY of these types of charges, the contrast is stark. Perhaps due to offering loans with tax ID numbers, they attract a particular clientele, including foreigners. However, if they want to appeal to informed clients who have plenty of options, they need to reevaluate their fees and customer service. Responding promptly to phone calls and messages is imperative I left a message for a banker over 14 days ago and still no response. A prestige community credit union I have a payback checking they only require $500 of ACH deposits per month. They pay you $.10 every time you use your debit card no such thing as charges just because you use a ATM out of network and all ATM from third-party fees are reimbursed automatically you don't have to bring in your receipts Into a branch like Resource One requires It's automatically done at the end of the month. I never pay one penny of a fee to them and at the end of every month I even receive $4 to$6 dollar dividend from using my debit card. A world of difference from Resource One. Feeling bewildered and confused, I must rate them two stars, and I do give them two stars because their cashiers and people that work in the branch are polite and nice. But as a financial institution, leaves a whole lot to be desired. read more

I stopped here as they are part of my out-of-state credit union's reciprocal banking co-op. I only come here for cashiers checks or to withdraw cash and it's always a seamless transaction. Wish it was a little closer to home, but outside of that no issues for me with Resource One. read more

Worse credit union I have experianced. Because my normal credit union is out of State that this is a shared Co-Op. So I opened another small Business account of course they tell you what you want to hear to get you to open the account, Once I did they told me I can use any branch to transfer between business accounts that are part of the Co-Op except when I went to an office out by Irving that one does not allow for shared branch tranfers. Then went to move money from my Business checking and they limit that as well online so you have to call. This is not how credit unions are suppose to work. Limit to $500 transfer beteen your own savings and checking online either call (Wait for over 30 minutes) or go into the branch again that is 40 minutes away. I will be closing my accounts here and take my Small Business somewhere else. read more

I've only had this account a short while and had three fraud alerts. I went to the branch and spoke to the branch manager to find out the contact info for their fraud department. Since scammers can spoof phone numbers, I wanted to be sure that the call actually came from their fraud department. She said she didn't know who or where the fraud department was. Worst bank every. Since they switched over the bank card logo from VISA to MASTER peoples cards, payments not able to link cards, have been terrible since 10/16/2023. I've been expecting a call back since 1:39PM. I don'e took 2 naps & It's 4:36PM & still no callback. So I called back & they're still saying the WAIT TIME is 5 hours push for callback. Answering emails or the phone would be a start. They pay one year of your loan payment but mess up paying your taxes. Then raise your monthly mortgage payment over $700 and no one will answer emails or phone calls. DONT LOOK AT R1 for a mortgage loan. read more

R1CU's fraud department that my debit card was hacked. After confirming that the charges were unauthorized my card was promptly blocked from future transactions. The next day I visited the Mesquite Branch to request a new replacement card. I was helped immediately by Lisa A, the Branch Manager. Within 5 minutes I walked with my new already activated debit card and PIN number. The entire process was straightforward and conducted efficiently and professionally. Superior service! read more

I have no problem getting loans. I take care of business. Anyway I go to R1CU to get a LOC for $25k. They tell me they only do 50k. I tell them I don't need 50 but whatever ok. Then they come back and say the LTV is off because the size of the loan. First of all I didn't want 50. Now you screwed my high score wasting my time with something I really didn't want anyway. read more

This credit union has limited locations which drives the indoor and outdoor tellers with extra long lines and wait times. Don't even think about calling the 800 number because the recording suggest 4-9 hours wait time. They do not call you back even when leaving a number. Even the tellers are extremely SLOW! Horrible company for a car loan. I didn't choose to go with them. Started have problems with them the moment i got the car. I got insurance on the car ASAP. Sent them the information on the insurance and i get a call saying that i don't have insurance on the car. i told the person on the phone that i did, and sent the proof again. another month goes by and another call saying i still dont have insurance on the car. Again i told them i have sent it to the email yall gave me and they said oh we the insurance for the car but our name is not as the lender so technically you dont have insurance on the car. i called the insurance to make sure their name was on the declaration. Sent it again. After that as soon as i get my insurance renewed I send them the newest card. What happened i get another call saying i dont have insurance on the car. So now they want to charge me an additional 300.00 for not having insurance on the car (i have insurance for the vehicle). they have put me delinquent and hit my credit score with -100pts. Lisa Anderson at the Mesquite branch is a Godsend. She goes beyond to take care of her patrons. As a long time member for over 30 years, I am disappointed in the way that the credit union has restructured itself. It no longer puts customers 1st as it did in the past. I would have been gone if it weren't for the customer support and personal service that I get from Lisa Anderson. She has embraced the new culture of the credit union but has held on the personalized customer service that some of us old members were used to. I witness her almost every time I go in, working with us and patiently explaining new rules, while taking the time to still be personable. I have been a member of Resource1 Credit Unión in Dallas, TX for over 40 years and I have noticed that customer service is one of the worst customer service since I became a member. Clerks answering the phones for clients do not know anything about banking and spend time looking up information and they say they cannot help to resolve an issue. Then you ask to speak with a supervisor and it is the same situation. No matter who you call no one has answers. Stay away from this institution, if I could give a zero rating I would. Their Customer Service is NOT very helpful. I did ask them to validate my payments to my mortgage company because the mortgage company insisted that many of my payments over the last two years were late (which is absolutely incorrect) and R1CU did not help resolve the problem. I am still fighting the mortgage company, which is 5-3 Bank --- a very unethical and screwed-up company. read more

First of December my spouse filled out the paperwork online for a Home Equity Line of Credit. The first road block came when the loan officer failed to inform us or him that all 3 credit bureaus would need to be ran. This was overlooked and we had to initiate a follow up call to find this out. Then we went many more days with no word. We followed up again we initiated. We started this the first of December and we just got word after many other emails and 2 failed attempts to close that it is TOO much for the Credit Union to deal with our special circumstances. They JUST gave up stop trying. That is just one example. The other times I spoke with loan officers they ignore items in the email. I am seriously looking into closing my account and find another institution to refinance my loan thru. read more

I asked about locking my interest rate 8-18-23 and why I had to call and email and feel like I'm chasing someone down is beyond me. It took raising a complaint to finally get a response. The rate was FINALLY locked 8-29-23. I've learned my lesson and will not do business with this company again. No matter how hard I been working on my credit considering being with a debt program now and even had credit builder loans with them they been declining my loans. Don't apply for loans with them. After being on the phone yesterday all day trying to explain to people I purchase business supplies from why I bounced 15 checks even though I had over 100k in my account (they can't seem to link my accounts and drain me dry in 1 account to charge unnecessary fees even though I told them 1 million times) and today I am on the phone 6 hours on an emergency trying to use my debit card which the expiration date in their system is different than the one on the card which was supposed to be fixed months ago. I've beat my head against the wall 26 years this is it I'm DONE. Don't even try to get a loan you can get 10 loans before this group of people would even call me back. read more

Thoughest experience trying to open an IRA Account. The GM started making up reasons why I could not get the process started over the phone. I had a form that was sent to me and filled out but for some reason they could not receive my signed form via mail(kept getting returned.) My wife and I have both have been members of this credit union for years. House loan, car loans, personal loans and credit cards along with our checking and savings accounts. I have been able to login to my accounts just fine. Then all of sudden one day I have issues. It will not let me login and has changed my information. So I call Resource One to get help. Waited 21 mins before someone helped me. Then once I talked to the young lady (Patrica was very nice) she couldn't help me. Said I needed to go into a branch to get help. Wonder how long I will have to wait there? Last time I waited in a R1CU lobby 35 mins before someone helped me. I changed my checking and savings account about 6 years ago (best decision) keep my credit card and a small amount in savings. My wife keeps her checking account but we will be moving it soon. Have changed all loans to a different credit union due to the fact that their interest rates are higher than other credit unions. ALL the other credit unions I deal with now, will answer the phone within a reasonable amount of time (5 min waits, if that). This credit union has gone down hill and seems to be continuing to that. I can NOT recommend this credit union any longer. They do HORRIBLE business and do not care! If they cared, they would fix their problems. Now I would be lying if I said there wasn't good people who work here. Lisa and all the sweet ladies who work in Mesquite are amazing. That branch defiantly is one of their better branches. First of all, to those who have had a genuine problem with Resource, I just discovered that you can file a complaint with the National Credit Union Administration, a federal agency in charge of regulating credit unions (google that agency and you'll find it). My suspicion is that the wrong people have taken Resource over. It used to pay interest on checking accounts. Then they switched to a system I do NOT like, which supposedly rewards you for buying things on some new program. I do not need another "special" program to surveille my buying habits and maybe offer me back some kind of reward that may or may not be useful to me; I'd rather go back to the old, you-pay-me-interest-for-the-privilege-of-getting-to-play-with-my-money system, thank you. A credit union is supposed to be owned and run for the benefit of the members; but no one consulted me about this change. When I called to let them know what I think of it, I was told a manager would call back; when that didn't happen, I called and left messages repeatedly; no one ever called back. Have the people running Resource now also given themselves pay raises? I'd like to know; in any case, they apparently need to be reminded that they work for US. I've moved most of my money to another credit untion; but I've still got a CD at Resource that hasn't yet matured. I suggest that members who are dissatisfied with the way Resource is now being run should consider filing complaints with the National Credit Union Administration and the Better Business Bureau, and should show up at the next Resource organizational meeting and revolt. read more
