We sat outside which was a great little courtyard covered by umbrellas for the days sun & heat. We got mixed perogies (this is the only place we've been that lets you order multiple kinds on one plate, half roasted duck and Golabki (meatballs rolled inside cabbage). Perogies were fresh and tasty with spinach/cheese being our favorite. Other offers were potato and cheese, and meat. You can get either mushroom sauce or tomato sauce on the Golabki and I was so torn my waitress brought me both so I could compare. The mushroom sauce was delicious on its own but I enjoyed the tomato sauce more with the Golabki which is filled with meat and rice. (This is definitely a smaller dish than some other menu items with only two Golabki being served). The half roast duck was a large portion of food with potatoes. Duck was moist and tender but my husband who fancies himself a duck snob didn't like the preparation. This is going to be more of a Peking duck style of dish then French sear and serve rare. The children's breaded chicken was some of the best breaded chicken I have ever eaten. If you bring a kid force them to order that and then eat half of it hahaha! It appeared that the most popular item there was their duck burgers as I saw many a plate of that pass by our table. I would venture back to give one of those a try!

There were two rooms and I sat in the long one (the ceiling arc reminded me of a tunnel for some reason) with the duck mural. The menu contained lots of Polish dishes and a dedicated duck section. A duck and pickles appetizer was served gratis. It spread easily on the accompanying slices of bread and was nice. I've not had duck presented like this before and when I piled a couple of the smaller pickle pieces on top the tartness added more complexity for the flavors. I'd order this if it was on their menu. Zurek soup tasted a little tangy and was filled with sausage, mushroom, potatoes plus a whole egg and was delicious. I wasn't sure what to expect but all the different ingredients made for an enjoyable bowl. The bread bowl also contributed by thickening the soup as it abosrbed the broth. The duck breast with smoked plum sauce was thick, cooked medium and very tender. There was a little too much sauce for me but I liked the different taste. The side of glazed carrots and peas had a hint of sweetness and completed the dish along with the potato gnocchi. Service overall was good and efficient. Would return.

Almost every restaurant we visited had 3 to 4 soups on the menu. Kuchnia u Doroty specializes in Soups, Schnitzels, Bigos, Roast Pork, Perogies, Pickled Herring and more. The menu descriptions of the dishes do not correspond to reality. Also, they try really hard to be sophisticated where simplicity would be the best approach. Well, it's a take it or leave it situation. I don't visit Rytro very often, but if I'm in the area, I'll definitely start the day with their coffee. It was probably my favorite thing on the menu so far. I felt like mornings at Willa Poprad were relaxing and energetic at the same time. For dinner, we had a really good laugh at my 'Pork Tomahawk' with potato, oscypek (smoked cheese), garlic, dill, cabbage from Charsznica, caraway, bacon and asparagus. It turned out to be an ordinary cutlet (bone-in), mashed potatoes and sauerkraut. Our server brought my order to the table wearing black gloves. He opened a little pot in front of me and there were... mashed potatoes! Yay! :) Either way, a breaded pork cutlet is definitely one of the Polish signature dishes everyone should have at least once. "Chicken Breast Marinated in Curry" looked promising on the menu. I tried some meat and to be honest the chicken didn't have a bit of curry flavor. It was rather bland. The feedback about the noodles was positive, but the celeriac with coconut milk was too sweet. The rest of the ingredients, such as arugula or ham were just a garnish. 'Placek po Rytersku' was plated wonderfully. It was a thick, gooey textured potato pancake, covered with smoked trout, bacon, garlic confit, and cranberry sauce. The smoked sour cream was a really interesting touch, but the mushroom was a big disappointment. Actually, it was a huge undercooked stem, with no flavor or anything worth consuming. It was a pity, especially since the local forests are covered with a lot of mushrooms this season. The atmosphere and ambience during dinner is quite "stuffy", reminiscent of the interwar period. I'm usually backpacking and can't dress to better suit the restaurant's scenery. Anyway, next time I will ask for advice on what to order. I would also like to know why this restaurant has received so many awards.

Also, there was a pianist playing holiday music among other notable tunes. Being here myself, it was nice to listen to. I ordered the pork chop, breaded and fried, with roasted potatoes. I also got a hot ginger beer. It's not the soda we have in the States - it's actually a beer with ginger, lemon, cinnamon, and clove. Since it's beer based, it's a little out of my comfort zone. I would normally like something like this if it were non-alcoholic and sweeter but it grew on me as I drank it. The pork chop was really good - very basic, comfort meal. There are a lot of choices in Krakow but since I just arrived and was hungry, I stopped in as I knew they had good food.

Very small bar but this is probably one of the few places in whole town where you can find Southern Comfort. They didn't know how to make New Orleans drink .....but with little help they got it right. I will definitely recommend it to my friends.
