    Duck breast in plum sauce

I went without a reservation at 14:00. I had the duck breast with potato dumplings (like gnocchi) and carrots in plum sauce. The bread with duck and pickels was great too.

My friend and I were in Krakow for just a few hours so thanks to Yelp, we stumbled upon this gem. I ordered the Ruski Pierogi (cottage cheese, potato, and fried onion) and potato pancakes. The pierogi came with 9 pieces and the potato pancakes included 3 large pancakes. I am from the United States so I can honestly say these were the best pierogi I've ever had (and my grandparents made great pierogi!) The service was attentive and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We dined around 4pm so we were seated right away but we were told that the other side of the restaurant was already booked for reservations starting at 5. I suggest making a reservation if you plan on dining at a typical dinner time. This was also on a Tuesday so I imagine they are quite busy throughout the week as well.

The Zurek soup was amazing! Def recommend if you have not had it yet. The potato pancakes were okay. A lot of people around me ordered the duck and I heard raves about it. The service was friendly and spoke English. The atmosphere was very nice. In the heart of the city. Def recommend.

Do yourself a favor and come here for a wonderful meal, beautiful ambience and service that is beyond reproach. This establishment is the exact opposites of the overpriced tourist traps you will find in and out of the square. The best a duck we have ever had as well as an incredible beet soup, with delicate and delicious uszka. Our server, Victoria was wonderful and the general manager George is a gem of a restaurant professional and human being.

Some places you just know are going to be delicious when you walk by. You could tell from the aroma and the happy diners chatting inside. We walked by this place on our first night in Krakow and we knew we had to come back. Luckily we were able to get a table on our last night by waiting until the end of the evening - and it was so worth it. I would suggest making a reservation in advance if you can. The menu has traditional Polish dishes with a focus on their specialty, duck. I had a pulled duck burger, the meat was so tender and juicy and it really hit the spot. My husband had the schnitzel which is his favorite and dessert, of course. Our waitress was so nice - she gave us great recommendations and was so sweet and friendly. Her colleague came to chat with us too and we had a great time visiting with them. Since we were there late we were one of the last tables in the place. I got to try a few vodkas - the ladies flight (not sure what made them good for ladies, but I went with it) and then we get a cherry vodka shot at the end too. So yummy!

    Stuffed cabbage - outstanding

The Black Duck is so good that we ate there twice during our stay. Both visits we had to wait to get a table so i would suggest making a reservation. Service was good as our server was always close by and we did not have an empty glass during our stay. As for our food, the stuffed cabbage was the reason we came back a second time. My wife had to have it again. The pork cutlet was very good. As for the duck, it was a little dry. They bring a shot of cherry vodka at the end of your meal. I would return.

Chicken with Chanterelle mushroom sauce. They kindly subbed in fries instead of potato dumplings.

We had a delicious meal, with excellent service and wonderful atmosphere. There was a little mishap with our reservation, but luckily it was fine.

Very authentic Polish restaurant, a bit difficult to choose what to get, but fortunately we had a native in our table that ordered for everybody, everything was super flavorful, food took a little while to come out just because the restaurant was at capacity.

The Duck. You have to get the duck for two. Crispy skin, tender with potatoes and dumplings. Delicious and more than enough for two. Great atmosphere and service, too.

I was in Poland for about 3.5 weeks and tried new restaurants everyday, but this is the one that ended up being my favorite and it was so good that I had to come back for a second meal. The restaurant is nestled in a somehow very quiet block on the edge of the very loud and busy old town neighborhood. It's attached to the hotel, for which it shares a bathroom actually. This place is open only for a late lunch (1 pm and later) or dinner. I made it here for both a late lunch and a dinner across my 2 visits, although they both feature the exact same menu. Both times it was incredibly packed with only 1 open table, but I was lucky enough to be seated immediately. I think it makes sense to make a reservation for this place if you know that you're going to be going. The service is very friendly and attentive, and the place definitely attracts it's fair share of tourists and locals alike. They start you off with a nice round of bread with duck pate. It was so savory and a perfect intro to how good the food will be. Across my two times, I ordered the raspberry lemonade, żurek, pierogi sampler, potato pancakes, and pierogies ruskie. The raspberry lemonade and the żurek are must gets. I think the raspberry lemonade is the best lemonade I've ever had anywhere, filled with fresh citrus, raspberry, and mint, it is just so refreshing even in the cold Polish Spring. As for the żurek, it is served the traditional way in a bread bowl and it is so hearty and perfect for those cold afternoons. The potato pancakes were honestly a miss, and I wouldn't recommend these. However, the pierogies more than make up for it. The first time, I tried all of the flavors, but my favorite was by far the ruskie (potato and cheese) so when I went back the second time, that's exactly what I ordered. These were the best pierogies I had during my trip to Poland. And then to top it all off, they bring you complimentary shots of their house plum vodka and it is so sweet and tasty. Great way to end a meal!

Great traditional polish food and done well! One of the few restaurants in old city that is priced well with amazing food and quality a native would enjoy for it's authenticity. The food was fresh and seasoned to perfection with the smell of duck luring you inside. The service was great and the outdoor garden got seating is very cute. This is a restaurant worth trying!

When we visited around noon, there were only two parties ahead of us, so the wait wasn't bad at all. We ordered the daily special, a chicken cordon bleu served with potatoes and a side of vegetables that tasted a bit like coleslaw. We also tried two kinds of fried pierogi: spinach and feta, and pickled cabbage with white mushrooms. It was my first time trying pierogi, and I really enjoyed them. They reminded me of dumplings, but were served with sour cream on the side, which added a nice touch. Ordering was very straightforward. You simply place your order at the counter, and the staff will bring the food to your table. The prices are very reasonable, and the portions are generous.

The decor of this milk bar was by far the most inviting of the ones I've seen or visited on this trip. Even the menu stood out with the colorful handwritten blackboard. Staff were very friendly. I grabbed an open seat and shared a table with three others. Staff came over to deliver my utensils and quickly highlight the menu. I walked up to the counter to place my order and pay. I decided to get the daily special and deviated from the Polish cuisine I've been eating the whole time here. The mushroom soup was big and delicious with a strong mushroom flavor. The chicken curry was meaty and tasty sauce with fluffy basmati rice. Well worth visiting and I can see why this place was busy all day. .

I was curious about the delicate cabbage leaves that look like the wings of its namesake (little doves or pigeons). It was everything I thought it would be, and more. I'm so glad that we tried them. It's popular for a reason. I really appreciated the fresh mushrooms, and the filling of buckwheat. It made the rolls so light. It felt like comfort food at its best. Very delicious! They can make them gluten-free as well. In fact, the menu has a lot of options for those with dietary restrictions. They'll ask you right away if you have any allergies to certain foods. The service was great. Everything was explained very well. We couldn't pass up dessert. They all looked so good. My husband decided to get the Basque Cheesecake. It's not on the menu, but they'll let you know if it's available by request. I was tossed between the Egg Nog Cake and the Chocolate Cherry Cake. Both have some form of liquor in it. The Egg Nog Cake or Ajerkoniakowy Tort was my absolute favorite of the 2 desserts. I really liked the eggnog filling. I'd think it would be rum (like the Polish Kogel Mogel punch), but we were told that the vodka works better in their recipe. They were right. It's definitely heavenly. What I love is that there were more locals eating there. I didn't see any tourists. It's kind of off the beaten path. We decided to head on over to Kazimierz since it's not very far from this resraurant. It all worked out perfectly. I'd love to return one day to try other menu items. Everything looked great.
