The I got the frischipastetli, a pot pie made with a beef and veal ragout with wild morels from the surrounding forest. The stew was well seasoned and tender, the potatoes still had their firmness, and the flaky pastel was perfect. Penny got the steinpilz ravioli, which she enjoyed. A fun family atmosphere, really good food, and kind attentive service (from people who speak at least four languages!) makes me want to go back.

The setting is a beautiful outdoor garden with leafy trees and lush bushes, accented by wild strawberry plants placed on each table. Quiet and romantic with occasional church bells in the background. Filled with US and Chinese tourist, it claims to be Italian, uhhh OK. Let's just say, I've never had a margherita pizza quite like this. Half cooked crust (raw dough on one side) and seasoned with OREGANO instead of basil. Tip: Order from the "Wildkarte" menu of classic Swiss dishes. Done well. The selection of classic Swiss dishes impresses. The rehschnitzel AKA venison escalope with cream sauce, cowberry, red cabbage dressed with chestnuts and apples and butterspaetzli, solid. Tender pieces of perfectly cooked venison tenderloin enrobed in a rich cream sauce (venison demi and rich heavy cream). The pronounced gamey notes are well matched by the tart red cabbage. Chestnuts add the Autumn flavors and a baked apple filled with tangy cowberry compote to round out the dish. The only weak spot, the butter fried spaetzili. Gummy and rubbery. Totally unnecessary with a nutty, burnt butter flavor that didn't belong. Friendly, touristy service. English spoken with English and Chinese menus. Very limited wine list but still featuring a few wines of Luzern. It just goes to show, you can't suppress a chef's desire to make the food of his home well. We had the Tajine Kefta with fries and a small Mezze plate with Hummus, Baba Ganoush, Falafel, and Taboulé. The Kefta was moist with a loose texture. It was a little bit spicy and had generous amount of tomato sauce. The hummus and falafel were the weaker of the two mezze items. The hummus is a bit chunky (not super smooth or fluffy). The falafel came with Tzaziki (super creamy and very garlicy). They had good texture, but not super crunchy and crispy on the outside. The Baba Ganoush was really flavorful, deep, fresh, with good texture (smooth with some chunks of eggplant). The taboule was also really fresh tasting and moist. The service here was also notably great. Servers were super helpful and kind. Their bathroom was also quite nice.
