We stayed at Bernerhof for four nights with our entire family (10 adults, 4 children), and they were so accommodating. The breakfast spread is delicious and filling, the front desk staff is so friendly, and the location truly cannot be beat. We've traveled all over the world and the views from the Bernerhof hotel balcony are hands down the best. They're located in the center of town, just a short walk from the gondola up to Oeschinensee, and easy access to anywhere else in town, including the transit stops. Traveling overseas was a bit challenging for the little ones in our group, but the Bernerhof has a children's playroom and they were so so sweet to the children even when they were a little rambunctious. Staying at the Bernerhof felt like staying with family, just with really fancy and comfortable accommodations. They went above and beyond to make our stay in Kandersteg memorable and they made our micro wedding extra special with all of their thoughtful touches and customizations - our trip and wedding would not have been the same without them. I cannot recommend the Bernerhof highly enough - thank you again to Claudia and Gerhard and the entire staff for a stay of a lifetime!

If driving by car, be advised that you have to take a ferry....which is actually a train for transporting cars and not a boat. It is 10000% worth the effort. Our mountain-view room offered a breathtaking vantage point of the mountain and was perfectly-sized for two. There is a fitness center and washing machine/dryer available to guests. They exchanged our Euros for Swiss Francs at the desk, and the front desk attendants were quite helpful and friendly. This is the perfect location if you want an out-of-the-way, authentic Swiss destination.

The rooms are great - not fancy - but spacious with good sized bathrooms. Breakfast was excellent and very relaxed. There's a very peaceful lounge area if you're into hanging out in the bad weather. And the restaurant, while a little on the hot side, is outstanding. Excellent food, wonderful service. Great hiking opportunities in the area. Don't miss the gondola rides - there are 4 of them. What stood out wasn't one flashy moment. It was the consistency and attention to detail from every single member of staff I interacted with. That kind of alignment doesn't happen by accident. It reflects culture and leadership. There's something here that feels like old-school European excellence in hospitality. Service that is confident, calm, precise, and not overly theatrical. It feels intentional. Lara at reception was excellent. Professional, efficient, and warm without being overdone. Check-in was smooth and polished, but never stiff. Chantal at concierge was exceptional. She noticed me every time I walked into the hotel. Not occasionally. Every time.
