I heard there are around 450 different types of cheese in Switzerland. This place had most of them I think. The price for standards was considered quite normal but for where I come from this place seemed expensive! They even showed the making of cheese which was very interesting. The process is very hygienic and enlightening! There was special cheese for the Swiss specialty, Fondue, and Swiss raclette. There was also touristy stuff which makes this place even more interesting. This place is certainly out of the way of the proverbial tourist lane. Though I came on a dark, winter night, I think one would be well-served to take advantage of their outdoor patio to take in the beautiful vistas of the Swiss countryside. There is an extensive wine list, but I like to go local, so I chose a good white merlot from the south of Switzerland, which surprisingly had a lot of complexity. The amuse bouche was a generous small, grilled filet of salmon, very well seasoned, with creamed leeks. I started with the mussel soup, served with copious strands of saffron in a dainty bowl, but they leave a small pitcher of the delicious, creamy broth. I think lemon juice was used to give it the right amount of acidity. The local striped perch, similar to a trout, was nicely sautéed with a paprika, curry sauce. I loved the buttery, sautéed vegetables. The Forst would be hard to pass up if you're in the area.

However, I found my 300g steal to be wonderfully cooked, tasty (not busting with flavor as it wasn't seasoned with anything), and filling! The portion was HUGE and I could barely finish it! It fit the bill after a long day of hiking though! Leaving absolutely content with the whole experience I can confidently say that Bären was my favorite meal in Wegen... dare I say all of Switzerland! Oh! It all worked perfectly together.There is a large interior, and a fantastic terrace overlooking the river with seating. However, this place gets packed on a warm summer day, and the drinks are served outside, not inside, so you have to fight your way to the bar to get yourself a drink.
