Truly exceptional. But this is not merely a restaurant--it is a mythological opera, enacted in the…read moreform of a tasting menu. The story begins not with a dish, but with a timeline you can eat, charting the ascent of three siblings from humble familial duty to culinary transcendence. You do not "dine" here. You witness a narrative of obsession, transformation, and fate--the kind that only arises when blood ties are mixed with butter, fire, and an unbearable drive for excellence. The youngest of the three, a pastry chef, emerges like a trickster figure from folklore, sweetening the end of the journey with a sense of mischief and melancholy. His takeover of the narrative is not declared; it is felt, as a shift in temperature, in tone, in destiny. The food--what can I say? Each course is like a quiet revelation, as if the universe momentarily aligned to allow perfection, then moved on, uncaring. There is no comfort here, only beauty that leaves you slightly devastated. The architecture of the space is austere but luminous, a kind of sacred geometry. The ceramics and silverware are ritualistic tools, not mere vessels. They suggest a world in which aesthetics are a moral responsibility--as if to serve food without beauty would be a sin against nature itself. To eat here is to be reminded that all creation is fleeting, that excellence is a burden, and that even in triumph, there is solitude.

A pain to book, but a wonderful experience at el celler and in girona. The setting is beautiful,…read morethe service is great, the wine list is extensive, the tasting is well paced. The food is creative and interesting, there wasn't a weak dish but at the same time most of the food is very good but only a few real standouts for me. But we thoroughly enjoyed the meal even after waiting 11 months from booking to experience. The meal begins with generous servings of the house cava, then straight into canapes (about 15 of them, a mini tasting before the real menu ha). The wine pairing was pretty good, also had a bottle for the meal. favorite courses were the tomatoes, eel and figs, eggplant, the duck set, and the air dessert! also highly recommend staying at the roca brothers' hotel (hotel casa cacao)

Very flavorful and fast experience. Oxtail and mashed potatoes 10/10: the oxtail meet is so tender and flavorful. The mashed potatoes pair so well with the oxtail. Mushroom, steak, and egg yolk 9/10: soo flavorful and balance of veggies and protein. Amazing textures and flavors. Sparkling sangria: 8/10 I don't normally live the taste of alcohol but this was great. Not tooooo strong and if tastes pretty good if you mix it with the orange juice. Fresh orange juice: 10/10 so tangy and delicious. I can't recommend it enough. Patatas bravas: 9/10 solid no complaints! Dessert Tapas: - bread dessert (Tarija): 11/10 amazing dessert that is creamy, cameralized, and has a mochi like texture. This fried chewy dessert is not too sweet and such an affordable price. - coconut pudding 9/10 solid and refreshing if you like flan - bread, chocolate oil, salt 7/10: I live the complex flavors. The chocolate mousse was light and the bread to mousse ratio was perfect. It's a smaller dessert tho I wouldn't recommend it if ur sharing. Service: amazing! Staff I'm everywhere so it was very easy to order more food. Also we were sitting buy the area where they made dessert and they allowed me to record them making it!! Comfortable ambiance great for date night or casual meals!!!

The feta cheese was absolutely disgusting, it tasted like imitation rubber cheese. - The "Al Ajillo" Style Shrimps (GAMBES AMB ALLADA) had a very strange flavor within it, which overwhelmed the garlic flavors. - The Beef Tenderloin (FILET VEDELLA), she had to spit 1/4 of it out because it was too tough. - Everything was overpriced there for the value. If you are in the area DO NOT waste your time nor money dining here!!!

This place is not touristy at all but the Catalan/French influence is strong. It's in a very rural area. I assume everything they cook is sourced locally. Roquefort icecream on a salad anyone? Very relaxed and unpretentious if you're heading up south of France or heading down to Barcelona....they are open at 1:30pm for lunch. Come hungry.

Everything is locally sourced (main components at least), fresh, absolutely delicious and deftly prepared. Albert (chef, owner), and La Barretina, were suggested by our Airbnb host who is another local. He is kind and gracious, excited to share his space and food, and proud to serve the quality he does- rightfully so. The place is in the middle of a rural part of Catalonia, and there isn't much going on- making it quite unassuming. The wine selection is completely locally made and held in a separate cellar attached which Albert will help you with. All bottles totally affordable- recommend trying "Mas Polit", we got a second bottle to go! After that, go wild. The menu is phenomenal. It's simple and humble but the food it stellar. Truly special, the flavors will impress and satisfy anyone from the food conservative to any foodie. The cannelloni are house made rich and delicate, onion cake is sweet, savory and unctuous, and the duck is ridiculous. We tried maybe 8 or 9 items between the two nights and everything was tremendous. I could keep going, but I think I've made the point. Please make an effort to get out to this area of Catalonia- it isn't far from Barcelona. The area totally deserves your attention and time and specifically this restaurant is worth the day trip.
