They had a Menu del giorno della fattoria, a menu of the day. It consisted of antipasti (bruschetta with perfectly ripe tomatoes and wonderful olive oil, and what I believe was farro with tomatoes and other vegetables), farm ham, salami, and local cheeses, a garden salad, pasta with a Chianina beef sauce, dessert (cantucci), coffee, water, wine, and vin santo. They brought out more bottles of red and white wine during our meal. We were honored to be introduced to the proprietor of the place. He's 90 years old and still working! Luca surprised my husband and me with a bottle of champagne to toast our 36th anniversary and a HUGE glass to have a sip and toast. What a treat! The grounds are beautiful with fantastic scenery all around, with rolling hill and vineyards, especially with San Gimignano in the distance. We sat outside under umbrellas and it was a beautiful day. Reservations are a must! The next time we are in the area, we'll be back for another great lunch.

They served us multiple courses, give us several bottles of 4 different wines, and let us explore the beautiful Tuscan hills. The food was good, but the stand outs were the wine and olive oil. They were delicious. The only thing that I wish would have been different is that we were supposed to have lunch outside. It was overcast, but not raining, and they set us up inside instead.

This being my wife's favorite, decided to make a special trip to San Gimignano just to try them out! We made reservations and I am glad we did because by 8pm, every table was full. The place is very small and dark, but they add a small LED light at each table giving just the right amount of light to read the menu. We reviewed the menu only to find that they no longer have gnocchi. She was disappointed at first, but absolutely loved her entree. We weren't vey hungry so no starters tonight, but they brought bread and some sort of potato fritter that had bits of octopus in it. I loved it, my wife stopped eating it when she found out about the octopus! She was fine before I told her. We order a nice bottle of Pinot Grigio and I went for the wild boar ragu while the wife tried I Fagottini Del Contadino, pasta stuffed with pears & pecorino cheese in a saffron and pecorino sauce. Spectacular! The pear had a little sweet and the pecorino a little salt and the sauce was velvety smooth and delicious! My ragu was very hearty with lots of pork. Simply delicious. They had crème brûlée, which is my wife favorite. We still had a little wine left, so she ordered that and I got the double chocolate cake with orange marmalade. We both enjoyed our deserts very much. While they didn't have gnocchi, we both thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will definitely come back the next time we are in town.

Originally we came at the recommendation by the people at our villa, Il Borghese. But it became a consensus winner when it came to our choice for a repeat restaurant. Just off the main street in San Gimignano on a quiet side road, it tends to be a destination restaurant which draws its customers from recommendations and repeats. It didn't show up in the several published guides we were using, but it is clearly an important omission. Among our favorites were the braised wild boar, the chicken with porcini, wild boar with pici (a thick spaghetti pasta) and, most significantly, the gorgonzola souffle. They also had one of the nicest inexpensive red wines from the local area that we came across: the Il Priore was Euro 16 at the restaurant. We liked it so much we found it at the nearby wine store and took two bottles home with us (Euro 10 per bottle at the store). Certainly in San Gimignano, I would make as my first choice, this lovely restaurant.

We ate in lots of restaurants in our 2 week visit to Italy and this was by far my favourite. Intimate dining area, magnificent food and staff that go out of their way to make you feel welcome. We debated whether to do the 5 course tasting menu for two at lunch time since it was rather warm and we did not want a long lunch. But the restaurant manger convinced us otherwise since there were several appetizers we wanted to try -- we were happy we took his suggestion. For appetizers we had their signature dish the Mezzevo (chicken egg), followed by Scallops, then Spaghetti Mancini (which came out with a glass covering smoke that smelled the aroma of coffee) and for the main course the Sea bass with pistachos. Every plate was creative, beautiful and delicious. One of the owners, as well as the manager were both attentive and helpful in their descriptions of the various plates. Everything was perfect.

She described it as a farmhouse with a restuarant in it, and that's exactly what this is. A gorgeous old farmhouse that a family has recreated into a bed & breakfast with a restaurant inside. The owner of the land and the farmhouse works as the winemaker. His wife is the innkeeper. Their son was the chef and their daughter was our waitress. The waitress was very nice, always smiling and even though she had 6 other tables and a large group, was extremely attentive. The winemaker sat us, and was in and out of the small restaurant doing whatever it was he doing all night. We had their house red wine to start and it was delicious. For a very small, family run restaurant in the middle of Tuscany I was incredibly impressed by the modern decor, the amuse bouche and the quality of the food. We had onion soup, ox tail tagliatelle, pork medallions, braised beef stew. It was all INCREDIBLE. I will remember the ox tail tagliatelle forever. It is probably the best pasta dish I've ever had. Perfectly al dente pasta, just enough sauce, and chunks of meat. Everything we ate that night was delicious. We were so enamored by the restaurant that we decided that if we ever made it back to San Gimignano that we had to stay at their B&B. It was on a charming piece of land, with a great view of the towers. This family is doing Tuscany right!

It is a fairly small restaurant located about 10 minutes from San Gimignano, and primarily serves the guests staying in the adjacent agriturismo. With only one review on Yelp (another 5 star) we took a chance. The wait staff was very welcoming and attentive, without hovering. The food was fabulous, and I don't use that word often. I had a stuffed rabbit, while my daughter had duck. Both were well prepared and well presented, and delicious. My wife's ravioli was as good as I have ever eaten. Reasonably priced local wines were very good as well. I would heartily recommend this restaurant if you are ever in San Gimignano. I would suggest making advanced reservation due to the relatively small size of the restaurant.
