After reading some good reviews at Dutch websites and seeing the menu (everything biological /…read moresustainable!) we decided to go here for dinner. We were with 7 people and it was absolutely great! When entering we immediately felt at home. The owner introduced himself and even the chefs waved hello from kitchen, which you can look into from the bar.The place is located in a small street right in the midst of everything that Amsterdam has to offer. Musea, shops, bars, and the beautiful canals are right around the corner. Inside it's very cosy with lots of atmosphere, and it's well decorated. You need to go up some steps to get to the tables, so it's not wheelchair friendly. The chairs are pretty comfortable and there's plenty of room at the table, on which you will find real linen and nice wine & water glasses. The waiter who served us was very friendly and always just there when we needed him but never there when we didn't. This is an art you don't see much anymore. After we asked he gave us lots of information about the wines, which helped us choose one that we liked. They have mostly Italian wines and we tried 3, all were very good. The cheapest bottle on the menu is 20 euro, but they also have plenty of higher priced wines. I remember we had a very nice Suave that set us back something like 30 euro. Well worth the money. The menu is small, but well balanced. They change it every now and then and only want to serve food made from fresh ingredients when they are at their best. The food was simply put, very good. The bread was fresh (home made every day), and went great with the nice olive oil. We got an amuse of goat cheese and sweet onions, which was delicious. The rest of the menu was just as good. Coquilles st Jacques (or scallops I think it is in English) with a mix of artichokes and herbs were wonderful, the pasta (home made gnocchi with lobster) was very nice and the turbot I had for main was just delicious. Very pure and simple, perfectly prepared. Other people had Jugged Hare (made of beef) with polenta prepared in an Italian way. A wonderful winter dish, full of taste and very fulfilling. Deserts were equally great. The chocolate cake (made of pure chocolate ofcourse!) was one of the best I ever had, and the lemon pie was sweet with a bit of sour and had a crunchy bite. Oh and I'd almost forget the cheese we had with a very good sweet wine the waiter convinced us to taste, which was much better the the port we originally wanted. Yumm! A 3 course meal costs 37,50, 4 course 43,50, 5 courses 49,50. Well worth the money!

The waiters at this place are rude and short sighted. No personal touch whatsoever. Some people are meant to be teachers, doctors, etc., and some people are meant to be servers. Not the people here. We ordered the appetizer and while we ordered the appetizer, I was asked to order the main dish like this: "If you know what you want tell me now, so I can put it in". It took over an hour to get a plate of spaghetti and.a lasagna. Not even a, enjoy your meal, sorry it took so long., nothing. The servers are overwhelmed, the dishes are overpriced and the service is terrible. When I asked to speak to a manager about it, I was told " i am the manager, you can talk to me". Well, the server lied. The truth is that there was no manager and the staff does not care. The atmosphere is chaotic and once again, the service is slow. I will not return and I will not recommend. The one star is for the flavor of the food. It was not bad, but it was not good enough to put up with the disappointing and mediocre service.

After seeing its awesome Yelp reviews, we decided to dine here on our last night, as we wanted something close by and easy. We walked in and were able to get seated immediately. There were only a few parties inside on a Saturday night, an hour before closing. Our server was super friendly, personable and helpful. He told us that the special pizza of the night had burrata and that there were only two pizzas left; if he sells all of the pizzas at the end of the night, his boss will buy him a bottle of whiskey. We had to help the guy out! Plus, burrata is amazing, so how can you resist? We also decided to order the vegetarian antipasta platter with our wines. The food was awesome and so deliciously fresh. The vegetarian antipasta platter came out first, and all of the different assorted items were mixed throughout in an olive oil base with pesto. There were chunks of mozzarella cheese, artichoke hearts, tomatoes, bleu cheese, cucumbers and arugula. It was better than expected and a great way to start our meal. The pizza then came out and it was delicious! The burrata, as it should be, was the star of the pizza, with its big lump right in the middle. All of us were able to get a chunk of burrata with every slice. For the three of us, the pizza was the perfect portion for sharing. (And our server did end up selling out all the pizza specials, so won his whiskey!) After our meal we were provided complimentary limoncello, which was the perfect night cap. I will say, I'm not a huge Italian food fan, but Ristorante La Festa makes me think otherwise. This was a great dinner in Amsterdam, and who knew you could find awesome Italian food in the Netherlands? The place also feels very home-like, with its small space, dim lighting and far distance from the tourist scene. I'm already missing Ristorante La Festa and Amsterdam.

It made us feel like one of the 'family'. Service was attentive and fast. The food is damn good and the portions are gigantic. No, seriously. After traveling and walking around all day without much food, I couldn't even finish half my meal. There's a house cat!!! Ahh. My crazy cat lady heart was stoked to snuggle that cutie while I tried to shovel the food in my mouth. Also, something to note: owner of the restaurant even handed me out some Advil so I didn't have to run out and get it when I had a headache. All around perfection at La Festa. In the open kitchen you can see (and hear!) the chef work his magic. The bread, the starters, the fresh home made pasta's and the secondi's are all amazing. The coffee was served quickly and tasted good. The atmosphere is nice, and because of the close proximity to the train station, it's busy most of the time. The staff is friendly and quick to help. This place is especially good if you want to go to the Pathe cinema, a concert at De Doelen or if you need to be close to the train station afterwards.
