Like this store for fresh fish and a few frozen seafood items like soft shells and shrimp. Made the mistake of buying the 16oz crab meat at the seafood counter to use in making crab cakes. Shells, shells, shells in every bite and the texture of the crab meat, after getting by the very nice top layer (the only thing you can see before opening the package) was more of a mush or grind of crab. Even if you wanted to extract all the shell in this crab... you would not be able to because it's ground into the crab. If you want crab meat that's worth eating your going to have to pay the bucks and get the canned lump crab meat or premium lump crab meat. Your customers will just have to pay more for the serving, but at least you won't be loosing a customer because you served the inferior crab meat. Restaurant Depo should discontinue this brand of crab. read more

As a small restaurant owner, I have saved many thousands of dolllars here. It may not be the right fit for some reviewers, but the staff has always been courteous and helpful, especially in fresh seafood. I have been able to order items for an event in the future(clams, fresh) and they were there to be picked up. if you need to pick up 10cases of extra large eggs, and 25# of shredded cheddar... at $$ better than walmart, than this place is for you! They have most of what you need to run a restaurant in their location. A+ Also, i have probably bought a hundred pounds of fresh lump blue crab, never had a problem with shells. The fresh live oysters, lobsters and mussels are excellent. wish i was closer, its a long drive, and worth it. read more

Shopped here plenty. Love the quality. Though it's a warehouse setting with moving parts, forklifts and plenty of stock being moved around, a cold storage area... be prepared. It's wholesale shopping. Some items too large a quanity for my use, but that's what it is. The other comments make me laugh, this is not Costco or Walmart, it's a warehouse. I love the Cedar Key Clams, Halai meat and the meats in general. The employees have helped me when I needed it. read more

This place is literally the biggest crap hole I have ever entered and the employees are horrible rude and of zero help. If I wanted to start a business this would be a good one to compete against this place is trashy and as I said above the employees are a waste of space. The cashier must have been unable to speak, said nothing and acted like walking two feet to retrieve some keys was the hardest thing in the world. I just called & was hung up on. Then I called again, and asked if they sold any black button down shirts for women; the person on the phone snapped back at me "no we don't." I said "okay, thanks" and hung up. Won't be calling them again. For a place that is serving the service industry- you'd think they would be better at customer service. read more

I'm not upset or anything, I've been in the service industry before, the stress can be compelling to the say the least. But this was kinda of.... amusing. It was funny. I've never been to this place once, so I decided to give them a call. First time they answered we were told to call back in 20 minutes. We called back a little sooner, and then was told the same thing, so we waited a couple of hours (well we were busy in a business ourselves, oops) another call before closing. I know I know, not a nice thing to do. I was hopeful, and someone manages to pick up, and didn't say anything, and then hung up. Called again, left the phone to ring hoping I'd give up I bet, wow was that long. Same thing, they hung up. What's wrong with simple honesty? "Oh sorry we don't have fresh so-n-so because we're not completely in season." Was what I was least hoping for but expecting. Or even less, an answering machine. Like, none o those things could exist apparently. So what have I seen so for here in yelp? Customer service is no good. Yep, I can vouch for that. I hope you guys can fix that. Well organized, prices are well displayed, meat and veggies are fresh and well stocked, one could easily get lost here but you will find what you are looking for. First, I agree 100% with everything Dave L. said in his review, and more. Management and employees are rude beyond belief sometimes; and they don't speak good English. "Hostile shopping environment" might actually be understated. There has not been one single time I've been there and haven't heard employees screaming at each other and rudely snapping at customers. And, it is extremely dangerous! They have stock laying all over the isles and the employees recklessly speed around on forklifts like maniacs. It's hard to find anything. The website offers almost no information about what's available, and what they do have on the site is not comprehensive and doesn't contain photos. Stock is not consistently maintained. They operate on banker's hours (even closed on minor holidays); not at all aligned with what a restaurant owner needs. There are very few organic and healthy choices. This place needs new management and I wonder if they are really affiliated with Home Depot? I was hoping so much that this would be a good solution for food service businesses in SW Florida, but it's a BIG disappointment. I hope someone who can do something about this place will read these reviews and make some changes, or someone who can open something else and really offer this area something good. I have shopped at RD locations on east coast and now west coast of FL. I have always been treated kindly and the staff has always been helpful to showing me where items are located. I do not speak Spanish, I try, but that has NEVER been an issue with RD staff. I saw items that were not stocked, grabbed a team member and it was brought down for me to buy. Like any warehouse without a map it is difficult locating items. It is a warehouse people, just like HD Lowes there are items in the isles. I have been to Walmart and it is a shit show. If you find prices lower there go shop there. Rude customers are rampant but not at RD. RD deals with small business people. We shop, we buy we go back to run our business. As a small restaurant owner I enjoy looking for new products the likes of Sysco, Cheney, US Foods do not present to you because there "sales" people are nothing more than order takers. GFS is another good company. Smaller but CS is still very good. 1-Learn how to navigate a warehouse. 2-If employees are rude your likely a jerk. Does not give them a right to be a rude. don't be a jerk 3-People make mistakes, be kind and point out the error in pricing. 4-Learn to understand different dialects. 5-I've found more out of date food in grocery stores than RD or GFS. 6-if your having a crappy day stay home drink some wine and go back to bed. This place is a joke. First of all, hardly anyone speaks English, so when you finally find someone to help you, they haven't a clue as to what you're saying. The employees drive their carts/cranes (or whatever those things are called) like madmen, without any consideration for shoppers on foot. There's expired food on the shelves. Just recently, I needed a case of crackers but all 18 cases expired two months prior. All 18 cases were outdated! Prices are sometimes wrong and they aren't very comparable to my suppliers. Some items are cheaper, but many items aren't. Phone service is ridiculous. I've called several times to price items in order to avoid an unnecessary trip. The person on the other end tells me that the item is in stock but that she doesn't know how much it is. Incredibly frustrating. When they first opened, I thought I'd end up giving this place some good business. Now I only go there if it's an absolute emergency. I can't be bothered with crap like this. read more
