My friends and I came here for dinner on a Wednesday night. We didn't have reservations so had to wait about 20 minutes before a table opens up. Our waiter Fernando was great, kind and funny. It's part of a hotel but you can dine here even if you're not staying at the hotel. There's indoor and outdoor seating but it was too cold to sit outside. It did seem a little more upscale but it was fine for us. I got the spaghetti bolognese which was good. The pasta dishes came in a cute little skillet which was different. I would come back here for sure! My friend's boyfriend was running late and the meals came out super fast after we ordered them, so Fernando put my friend's boyfriend's plate over the fire to keep warm until he got there, which was really nice.

The food was really nothing to write home about unfortunately... I have a vegetable platter... there was some thing on there that was not recognizable and undercooked boiled potatoes in the middle. However , the location was perfect. It was right in the middle of the town, walking distance to everything including our hotel. We were tired from a long day of walking and decided to stop in , got a table right on the rail. Watching all of the travelers going by. I had a glass of Chardonnay, it hit the spot however, it was not as tasty as it looked going into the glass... If you are hungry, I would say stop in.

Spaghetti with fresh bread and parmesan. The lobster soup (back) was delicious! Their red wine was incredible!

Don't let the reviews fool you! This spot is fantastic and we experienced nothing but friendly service with no language barriers. It's right on the main path, so it was a great spot to people-watch under the heaters and enjoy the evening. The patio was dog-friendly, too! Their lobster soup was delicious and perfect for a chilly night. We also tried the local "Dôle" red wine. We ordered the 500mL container and they filled it to the brim, making it about a whole bottle. It was one of the best wines we've had on our trip! We also tried their spaghetti with fresh bread and parmesan, which was good but nothing to write home about. We will absolutely be returning the next time we're in Zermatt! Food pictured below.

Terrible. Food was not good at all and service was bad. And had to ask for silverware after delivering food. Really?!

Because we were a party of 3, we did not fit the number of chairs in the restaurant. She started to call 2 parties of 2 behind us. Since she's allowing parties of 2, I told her to just take my husband and my kid. I will not eat. After being the first to be seated in an empty 20 seats room, my husband and kid were served last. My husband said that she continued to be rude to them and other patrons. My kid said that his curry pork rice was the worst. The curry was clumpy and the rice was mushy. My husband said that his ramen was mediocre at best. The meat was dry and the noodles were clumped together. There are many other options at the Chamonix Village. There's no need to pay overpriced mediocre food and be treated badly. Definitely skip Tanpopo.

Although I can't agree with a previous review stating it was the "best ramen I've ever had," we enjoyed a tasty and comforting Japanese meal. They were not able to make maki rolls so we ordered the wakami seaweed salad as a starter that was nice and light. For entrees, we ordered the Tanpopo complet beef curry with boiled egg and a miso ramen bata with added spicy white sesame oil. One side note: I liked the kick of the spicy oil, but since that particular ramen comes with butter, it felt a bit too oily. My recommendation is to only add spicy oil to ramen that doesn't come with butter :) I felt that both the curry and ramen dishes needed some salt. Luckily, this was easily remedied by a couple shakes of the salt shaker. Overall, we enjoyed our first lunch in Chamonix!
