From a culinary point of view in the middle of nowhere. Of course, the parking lot was also jam-packed but right at the entrance, they had an abandoned table for two. They were serving the main course for about half a dozen large parties at once who all ordered meat on a hot stone. It seems to be the specialty of the house and since there was no more Cordon-blue available I went for the same option. The meat was horse-filet and some side dishes like croquettes and seasonal vegetable and some sauces. It was delicious but I had to grill it my self on that hot stone first. The grease was sprouting all over the place so I was glad the waitress has wrapped a large napkin around my neck first. I didn't help to keep my close from smelling like a frying pan but I guess that's the deal eating this kind of dish. The staff was very friendly and super fast, always focusing on the needs of the guests. Would I go back there? Well, I wouldn't plan an extra trip just to be back like at other places, but definitely go again if I'm in the area cuz there's probably nowhere else to go (accroding to Yelp it is).

Apart from the tasteful decor and the nice atmosphere, the restaurant features an open grill where all the meats and veggies are prepared on. The menu is fairly short, though: there are your standard appetizers, like empanadas (which were ok, but not great) and a small range of selected cuts - you can either opt for 200g, 300g, 400g or the whopping 500g. What really makes the estancia stand out against other competition (such as Goodman's in Zurich), though, is the price. For two appetizers, drinks, two steaks and a third entree (yes, we were hungry) we only payed around 80 Euros! So, is the 45 minute drive from Zurich worth it? Definitely. Just make sure that you have a reservation; the place is insanely popular. We went there on a Tuesday night - right when they opened at 17.30h - and they could hardly find a place for us.
