The waitress (wife of the pair) snapped at me when I asked if I could look at a menu after waiting patiently for 5-10 minutes. She never asked if I needed something to drink. "Ich bin alleine hier!" "I'm the only one here!" I finally just helped myself to a plate of the salad bar. Eventually she made it over to me and took my order.
I received a tiny, over-cooked Schnitzel fried in what must have been old grease. It was covered in way too much breading. On the side were practically-burnt Pommes that I couldn't even get my fork into. I sent them back to get tasteless Spätzle. The husband insisted that everyone in the other group had eaten their Pommes and that people like them that way. I politely accepted his word as fact until some other patrons confirmed that the food was indeed inferior and poorly prepared.
[Note that I am writing this review 24 hours later after a nice dinner in Sulz sm Neckar where we received more typical (delicious, perfectly-cooked) German Pommes Frites. My work colleagues and others couldn't believe my story from last night! They were embarrassed that I had such a poor experience in their country, which I love very much with 30+ years of experience!]
On a positive note, there was a nice salad bar, but who could screw up shredded vegetables and fresh leaf lettuce!
If you want proper food, continue up the road 100 m to Züfle or head over to Sulz am Neckar - nicht Sulz Glatt. The other patrons I spoke to in the restaurant were locals and were also very disappointed. They won't be coming back again, either. They said that the current couple was the third owner in a relatively short time. That explains why I had a completely different experience two years ago when I stayed at the hotel on the property. The hotel has since been shut down and is no longer in operation. When I suggested they remove the Pommes from the bill, I was told, "You ordered it; you pay for it!" So much for the well-known phrase: The Customer is King!
When the next owners take over (in 2021?), you can take a chance, but until these two are gone, avoid this place if at all possible. read more
