The ambience isn't as impressive as the Old Swiss House and they don't have a Michelin star (like…read moreJasper's), but if you're looking to leave Lucerne for a good meal, then the Kreuz in Emmen is a good bet.
The service was very good, but you'll be left a little confused... what is a skilled chef like Mr. Suter doing cooking in a dump like Emmen? The location is, to put it mildly, unimpressive. But the food is very nice and includes excellent ravioli and a very tasty veal main course.
The desserts are regional and quite classical, but very tasty. The sorbet plate was flawless and somewhat acrobatic (take a look at the photo). The lemon cake with cream, strawberries and strawberry sorbet impressed me the most.
All in all, a very good evening. The restaurant offers good value for money as long as the guests aren't too demanding on the restaurant's rather unorthodox location. J
