Nothing overly filing because I mean we had some other places to try. The service was great, being tourists with backpacks, we felt like there was no judgement. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? 22,00 CHF for a full English Breakfast isn't something I haven't seen before, but in those previous situations I received a feast to be sure. I initially thought this too was a feast, but it turned out to be a feast predominantly of beans. More on that later, but for Lausanne and the atmosphere the price point wasn't quite fully unreasonable. Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? Looking at the picture, you might suspect I was initially quite excited for this - I was. It looked great, it looked complex, and it looked like a unique iteration of the full english in bowl form. Interesting! Unfortunately, it was in practice far less complicated, because underneath it was really all just beans with the rest sprinkled on top. So, so, so, so many beans, and they took over the entire dish not in the good way. Single Star. Star 5: Would you be excited to go back? I would not. No Star.

Cheval - or horse meat - is a specialty of the house, so having never tried it, my colleagues and I opted to share an entree of cheval tartare as an appetizer. It came generously proportioned, a mound of finely chopped meat which was very tender and smooth. But it was hard to determine the true taste of the meat as it was heavily spiced and seasoned. It wasn't bad but it wasn't really memorable either. I'll probably stick with a beef tartare moving forward. On the other hand, their cheese fondue was memorable! A big pot of molten and winy cheese, long-handled forks, plenty of good crusty bread, and a couple of bottles of the local red made this a fully satisfying and convivial treat on a frosty December evening in Switzerland. The place filled quickly with locals and became a very cheery and festive night. Great fun!
