The second night we returned we were pleasantly surprised that all English speaking customers had made reservations. The owner/waiter stated he was worried his English may not be good enough, but every table was pleased with him. A lentil purée amuse buche followed by beets cooked in many ways with bacon was mind blowing. The braised pork cheeks with carrot purée and calvados broth made us want to pack the restaurant in our suit case and bring them back home! That was followed by a creme brûlée with lychee fruits and a whipped creme that delighted the taste buds. Top that with a bottle of wine paired for the three course meal by the owner. And all of it cost us €77..... Can't beat that. After our second meal there we realized this was in fact the best food we have had in all of France and made a third reservation! The place is always busy, so the small husband and wife staff are very busy, however attentive to your needs. Traditional to French cuisine they make conversation with you when you order and bring the food, however being as cozy as it is, if you need something they are right there to serve you. This place is such a special niche it is very important to make a reservation or you will miss out on a dinner of a lifetime.

There's a small parking lot just below the restaurant (new adress in case Google didn't change it: 73 rue haute saint Maurice), which was very convenient. Paid by meter. We made a reservation on this weekday, which turned out smart, since the place was fully booked for lunch. Inside it's a very classy, comfy setting. There's also a pretty courtyard, but it was a rainy day. We both chose the Set Menu "M" for a very fair 48 Euros each. An excellent Amuse Bouche started the meal - a very nice seafood bisque. For the starters we chose the Foie Gras Chaud Réduction Acidulée de Vin Rosé et Cerises Pickels de Baie de Goji and the Terrine de Foie Gras au Calvados Compotée de Pomme au Vinaigre de cidre Tuiles aux Algues. Both amazing choices, especially if you're into Foie Gras like us. The hot Foie Gras was so tender, it was really melting on our tongues. Not that easy to find hot Foie anymore. And this one was divine. For mains we've had the Filet de Veau (veal) Rôti cuit a Basse Temperature Sauce Aigre Douce à la Poire et Jus de Canard Poire Pochée and the Ris de Veau Braisé (sweetbreads) au Mies Réduction de Coteau du Layon au Citron Vert Duxelle de Champignons. A very tender, juicy piece of veal. Cooked to perfection. And the Ris de Veau was the best one I've ever had. Amazing dish. Both dessert were also delicous. That's where many restaurants struggle. Not so here, the desserts were as amazing as the other dishes. Had a bottle of Crémant with the meal, which went very well with the Foie and the meat. Staff/owner were all wonderful, helpful and made us feel welcome. Welcome was also our Bulldog inside the restaurant. Food quality, execution, presentation, hospitality. All on top level. A perfect lunch experience. And fair priced as well. Surely we'll be back one day.

And it's probably the most popular fine dining in town as it was full on a Sunday. The home made foei gras with dried pear was divine! Smooth, salty, sweet, fatty but not too much. And I could keep eating it with the fresh bread. Lamb was unfortunately not a highlight because I was spoiled by another better lamb dish I had in Paris. The fish with red wine and mushroom sauce was a nice surprise. The baked Alaska is highly recommended because they light it up on fire in front of you. The chocolate mouse was heavenly. They have Chinon wines which means they are all pretty good. And no you can not choose where you can sit. Service was just perfect like many other French places.

Definitely a sit down restaurant and you should plan to spend a couple of hours here. One of the waitresses speak English so that was really helpful! They checked in on us periodically and we didn't feel forgotten at all. I could tell that the kitchen was making each dish in a timely manner because the guests were all basically served each part of the meal at the same time. Food: 5 Where to even begin! The flavors were so good and I love how the starter and main dishes have elements that you put together because it felt more interactive. Each dish was plated so beautifully. It was pretty busy but there was a table for two. The menu featured pasta, pizza, and some other Italian dishes as well as desserts. We ordered pizza as we saw them bring some out to other tables and they looked yummy. A nice Italian wine to go with it and a bottle of San Pellegrino made it complete. The pizzas didn't disappoint; they were well served on a medium thick crust and delicious. After enjoying them we ordered a small dessert and digestif to finish this wonderful meal. Service was good!
